Mixed trading for JSE Junior Market


Trading closed mixed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Monday, with the volume of stocks traded rising at a lower value than Friday, following trading in 47 securities, compared with 45 on Friday and ending, with prices of 24 rising, 20 declining and three closing unchanged with the market index declining.

The market closed with trading of 17,994,569 shares, up 16 percent over Friday’s trade of 15,546,356 units, with the value slipping from $27,162,207 on Friday to finish at $24,916,920.
Trading averaged 382,863 shares at $530,147, compared to 345,475 stock units at $603,605 on Friday and closely aligned with the month to date average of 415,894 stock units at $531,821 and 417,636 stock units at $531,909 on the previous trading day but a bit higher than February’s average of 301,118 shares at $408,514.
With Kintyre Holdings continuing to be in the news with various announcements relating to expansion, the stock again led trading with 4.89 million shares for 27.2 percent of total volume followed by Stationery and Office Supplies, with 2.15 million stocks for 12 percent of the day’s trade, following the official opening of the new Seek factory and warehouse. Derrimon Trading closed with 2.02 million stocks for 11.2 percent of the overall trades, Fosrich with 1.63 million units for 9.1 percent of the volume traded and Woodcats International with 1.59 million units for 8.8 percent of market share.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index shed 10.10 points to wrap up trading at 3,353.36. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows 10 stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.

Jetcon Corporation dipped 24 cents to close at $2.56 with investors trading 44,103 units, JFP popped 5 cents and ended at 45 cents, with 11,045 stock units crossing the market, KLE Group sank 5 cents to finish at 90 cents with a transfer of 1,301 shares. Knutsford Express declined 99 cents and ended at $9, with 13,024 units changing hands, Lasco Financial rallied 17 cents to $1.97 with an exchange of 368,044 stocks, Mailpac Group increased 6 cents in closing at $2.66 following trading of 835,272 stock units. Medical Disposables shed 18 cents to close at 52 weeks low low of $1.07 in an exchange of 328 shares, MFS Capital Partners climbed 6 cents to end at 49 cents with investors trading 527,367 units, Paramount Trading dropped 15 cents to finish at $1 and closed after an exchange of 467,133 stocks and Stationery and Office Supplies sank 5 cents and ended at $1.65, with 2,151,000 stock units crossing the market.

JSE Main Market bounce


Stocks bounced at the close of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Tuesday after following an exchange of 63 securities compared to 62 on Monday, with the prices of 22 rising, 27 declining and 14 ending unchanged and resulting in a surge in the market indices. At the close of trading, the value of stocks traded jumped by 68 percent compared to Monday, as the volume increased moderately.

The market closed with the trading of 15,264,024 shares with a value  of $150,066,974, compared with 14,908,834 units for $89,566,329 on Monday.
Trading averaged 242,286 shares at $2,382,015, after rising from 240,465 stock units at $1,444,618 on Monday and month to date, an average of 232,383 stock units at $1,857,709 after increasing from 230,673 shares at $1,767,212 on the previous day, compared with January with an average of 271,336 stock units at $2,043,022.
Lasco Distributors led trading with 4.14 million shares for 27.1 percent of total volume, followed by Transjamaican Highway, with 3.79 million stocks for 24.8 percent of the day’s trade, Sagicor Select Financial Fund closed with 2.18 million stock units for 14.3 percent of the volume traded and Pan Jamaica with 1.66 million shares for 10.9 percent of market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 5,105.57 points to 402,201.17, the JSE Main Index climbed 3,752.16 points to end at 345,211.57 and the JSE Financial Index popped 0.56 points to 62.54. JSE Main Market marches on


The majority of traded stocks not only rose on Tuesday, but lifted the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market higher with trading in 63 securities compared with 61 on Monday, resulting in the prices of 27 rising, 20 declining and 16 ending unchanged, following a 6 percent increase in the volume of stocks traded with the value dropping 24 percent compared to Monday, with Wisynco Group ending at a 52 weeks high and Barita Investments trading at a 52 weeks low

The market closed with trading of 11,182,534 shares for $69,085,645 compared with 10,529,723 stock units at $90,762,098 on Monday.
Trading averaged 177,501 shares at $1,096,598 compared to 172,618 stocks for $1,487,903 on Monday and month to date, an average of 175,099 units at $1,289,095, down from January with an average of 271,336 stock units at $2,043,022.
Trading was led by Transjamaican Highway with 4.37 million shares for 39.1 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Energy, with 1.79 million units for 16 percent of the day’s trade and QWI Investments with 980,607 stocks for 8.8 percent of the volume traded.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 3,082.83 points to wrap up trading at 404,662.45, up 10.4 percent year to date. The JSE Main Index rose 2,224.36 points to 347,969.54, with a year to date gain of 9.4 percent and the JSE Financial Index sank 0.07 points to conclude trading at 63.89, down marginally year to date. Four days of gains for JSE Main Market


Stocks delivered a fourth day of gains for the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded climbing 7 percent at a 15 percent higher value than on Tuesday. Dealers traded 60 securities compared with 55 on Tuesday, with prices of 23 rising, 24 declining and 13 ending unchanged.

The market closed with 7,408,031 shares traded, worth $54,644,759, following trading of 7,936,401 units valued at $47,529,234 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 123,467 shares at $910,746 compared to 144,298 shares worth $864,168 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 206,361 units at $1,403,213, down marginally from 213,601 shares at $1,446,223 on the previous day and November with an average of 279,326 stock units at $1,890,583.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 3.10 million shares for 41.8 percent of the total volume, followed by Wigton Energy, ending with 1.20 million stock units for 16.2 percent of the day’s trade and Tropical with 666,866 stocks for 9 percent of the volume traded.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 1,562.91 points to 363,565.81, the JSE Main Index advanced 640.29 points to conclude trading at 315,654.89 and the JSE Financial Index advanced 0.68 points to close at 64.33. Big price gains in blue-chip stocks on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market


Sharp increases in prices of heavily weighted blue chip stocks had an overwhelming impact on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, following trading in 57 securities up from 54 on Thursday, with 21 rising, 22 declining and 14 ending unchanged. A $10 jump in Guardian Holdings, $6 in Caribbean Cement and Eppley Property, followed by a $3.10 rise in Scotia Group and more than a dollar gain in NCB Financial, Sagicor Group and Sagicor X Fund were more than enough to give the market a solid lift after the volume of stocks traded soared 291 percent and the value 28 percent more compared to Thursday.

The market closed with 17,049,464 shares trading for $72,943,349 after rising from 4,488,027 stock units at $65,058,905 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 299,113 shares at $1,279,708, after jumping from 83,112 stock units at $1,204,795 on Thursday and for the month to date, an average of 200,190 stock units at $1,376,570 after increasing from 189,220 shares at $1,387,312 on the previous day and November with an average of 279,326 stock units at $1,890,583.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 8.86 million shares for 50.4 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Energy, ending with 3.18 million stocks for 18.1 percent of the day’s trade and QWI Investments with 2.25 million stock units for 12.8 percent of the day’s trade.

Trading drops on JSE Main Market


Investors traded fewer stocks on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market compared with Tuesday, with the volume traded diving 48 percent, and the value climbed 24 percent compared to Tuesday, following trading in 57 securities, up from 55 on Tuesday, with prices of 22 rising, 21 declining and 14 ending unchanged.

The market closed after an exchange of 7,683,660 shares worth $69,440,645 compared with 14,784,445 stock units at $55,846,494 on Tuesday.
The average trade ended with 134,801 shares at $1,218,257 in comparison with 268,808 stock units at $1,015,391 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 201,676 units at $1,408,738, marginally below the average of 211,135 shares at $1,435,679 on the previous day and November with an average of 279,326 stock units at $1,890,583.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 2.55 million shares for 33.1 percent of total volume, followed by JMMB 9.5% ending with 1.64 million stock units for 21.4 percent of the day’s trade and Eppley Caribbean Property Fund with 704,700 stocks for 9.2 percent of the volume traded.

Main Market bounce


The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended with a robust rally with the major indices closing well above that on Monday as trading remained relatively steady on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded marginally down with an 18 percent lower value compared to Monday, following trading in 55 securities down from 59 on Monday, with prices of 17 rising, 23 declining and 15 left unchanged.

The market closed with 14,784,445 shares trading for $55,846,494, down from 15,124,381 stock units at $68,395,358 on Monday.
Trading averaged 268,808 shares worth $1,015,391, versus 256,345 stocks at $1,159,243 on Monday and month to date, an average of 211,135 units at $1,435,679 versus 202,020 shares at $1,502,104 on the previous day, but down from November with an average of 279,326 stock units at $1,890,583.
JMMB 9.5% led trading with 6.86 million shares for 46.4 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Energy, ending with 2.34 million stock units for 15.9 percent of the day’s trade, Transjamaican Highway closed with 1.68 million units for 11.4 percent of the volume traded and JMMB Group 10% with 1.26 million shares for 8.5 percent of market share.

Transjamaican cops 61% of JSE USD Market


Transjamaican ended with 61 percent of stocks traded, in a moderate trading session, on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Friday, with the value of stocks jumping 25 percent compared to Thursday, with the volume sliding 15 percent. A total of 55 securities changed hands compared with 57 on Thursday, with prices of 17 rising, 21 declining and 17 ending unchanged.

The market closed on Friday with 11,126,193 shares trading for a total of $93,408,624 versus 13,066,430 stock units worth $74,861,736 on Thursday.
Trading ended with an average of 202,294 shares valued at $1,698,339 versus 229,236 units at $1,313,364 on Thursday. For the month to date, trading ended with an average of 190,929 units valued at $1,572,100, compared with 188,258 shares valued at $1,542,428 on the previous day, but less than November, with an average of 279,326 stock units at $1,890,583.

GraceKennedy gained 78 cents and ended at $73.24 with a transfer of 27,430 stocks, Jamaica Producers fell 88 cents to end at $22.12 after an exchange of 8,291 stocks, JMMB Group climbed 49 cents to finish at $18.49 with investors trading 34,032 shares. Kingston Properties sank 97 cents to $8.12 with 130 stocks switching owners, Kingston Wharves skidded 89 cents to finish at $31.01 with investors dealing in 14,724 units, Massy Holdings rose $1 $76 with 1,004 stock units crossing the exchange. NCB Financial gained 40 cents to end at $37.50 in trading 146,336 share, Pan Jamaica fell $2.01 in closing at $52.98 after a transfer of 143 stock units, Sagicor Group dipped $1 to close at $39 with investors swapping 6,660 units. Sagicor Real Estate Fund shed 49 cents to $8 with 3,085 stocks crossing the market, Scotia Group dropped $1.44 to end at $51.30 after the trading of 6,529 shares, Stanley Motta sank 50 cents in closing at $6 after an exchange of 8,570 units. Sygnus Credit Investments climbed $1.20 to finish at $13.20 with investors exchanging 37,801 stocks through the market and Wisynco Group slipped 46 cents to $19.42 with traders dealing in 32,308 stock units.
In the preference segment, Jamaica Public Service 7% fell $6.72 to close at $38.08 in an exchange of 1,410 shares and Jamaica Public Service 9.5% skidded $389.85 to $2,209.15 with 30 stock units crossing the market.

Trading drops on the JSE Main Market


The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market rallied on Thursday following trading in 57 securities, down from 59 on Wednesday, with prices of 17 rising, 29 declining and 11 ending unchanged. The volume of stocks traded fell 11 percent, with the value 46 percent lower, compared to Wednesday.

The market closed the day with 13,066,430 shares being traded, down by 11 percent from the 14,609,258 stock units, with the value declining to $74,861,736, from $137,596,723 the prior day.
Trading ended with an average of 229,236 shares at $1,313,364, after falling from 247,615 stocks worth $2,332,148 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 188,258 units valued $1,542,428 compared with 175,062 shares at $1,616,195 on the previous day and November with an average of 279,326 stock units at $1,890,583.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 4.16 million shares for 31.9 percent of the total volume, followed by Lasco Manufacturing with 3.32 million stock units for 25.4 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Energy with 2.39 million stock units for 18.3 percent of the volume traded.
The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 2,416.15 points to end at 360,498.70, the JSE Main Index climbed by 701.10 points to end at 314,748.22 and the JSE Financial Index rallied 0.07 points to 64.15.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator closed with nine stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.

.Transjamaican led trading with nearly half of the day’s volume on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Wednesday, with a 71 percent rise in the number of shares changing hands and the value that was 101 percent higher more than on Tuesday, following trading in 59 securities up from 58 on Tuesday, with prices of 25 rising, 23 declining and 11 ending unchanged

The market closed with 14,609,258 shares trading for $137,596,723, after soaring from 8,548,957 stock units at $68,511,970 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 247,615 shares valued at $2,332,148, well above the 147,396 units at $1,181,241 on Tuesday and for the month to date, an average of 177,122 stock units at $1,664,349, up from 141,875 shares at $1,330,449 on the prior day and less than November with an average of 279,326 stock units at $1,890,583.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 7.19 million shares for 49.2 percent of total volume, followed by Carreras, ending with 4.19 million stock units for 28.6 percent of the day’s trade and Innovative Energy with 728,450 stock units for 5 percent of the volume traded.
