Trading ended mixed on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market compared with Friday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 23 percent with 12 percent lower value than on Friday. Investors exchanged 62 securities, up from 56 on Friday, with prices of 18 rising, 33 declining and 11 ending unchanged.

The market closed with 15,872,782 shares trading worth $183,203,796 compared with 12,870,467 stocks at $208,592,826 on Friday.
Trading averaged 256,013 shares at $2,954,900, relative to 229,830 stock units valued at $3,724,872 on Friday. Trading month to date, ended with an average of 336,340 units at $4,134,072, down mildly from 345,478 shares at $4,268,217 on the Friday and well above the average of 294,201 stock units at $3,175,664 during July.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 7.45 million shares for 46.9 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 2.12 million stocks for 13.3 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Energy with 1.19 million stock units for 7.5 percent of the total number of shares traded.
The All Jamaican Composite Index lost 344.01 points to finish at 444,799.26, the JSE Main Index advanced a mere 9.75 points to 373,264.92 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.11 points to 69.75. JSE Main Market drops


The value of stocks traded jumped 25 percent compared to Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Friday, as the volume declined modestly. Investors followed an exchange of 65 securities, up from 59 on Wednesday, following the closure of the market on Independence Day on Thursday and ended with prices of 19 rising, 33 declining and 13 ending unchanged.

The market closed after an exchange of 24,335,595 shares for $266,251,702 after sliding from 24,918,385 stock units at $213,647,357 on Wednesday.
Trading ended with an average of 374,394 shares with a value of $4,096,180 compared with 422,346 stocks for $3,621,142 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 371,023 units at $4,608,115 compared with 369,799 shares for an average of $4,794,013 on the previous day with an average of 294,201 stock units at $3,175,664 for July
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 17.63 million shares for 72.5 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Energy with 1.53 million stocks for 6.3 percent of the day’s trade and Lasco Distributors with 1.10 million stock units for 4.5 percent of the total number of stocks traded.

Transjamaican Highway closed at a record high of $12.70 after climbing a solid $1.42, with the volume of stocks trading rising 35 percent on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday, with at a slightly lower value compared to Tuesday. Transjamaican grabs Market share again


Transjamaican Highway captured 56 percent of stocks trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, but trading closed with a 19 percent fall in the number of stocks traded at 40 percent lower value compared to Monday. Trading ended with activity in 59 securities down from 61 on Monday, with prices of 26 rising, 26 declining and seven ending unchanged.

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Friday, with a moderate fall in the value and volume of stocks traded compared to Thursday, with trading in 63 securities up from 60 on Thursday, with prices of 21 rising, 26 declining and 16 ending unchanged.

The market closed with the trading of 12,846,746 shares with a value of $102,917,764, with a slight fall from 13,213,833 stock units worth $105,706,728 on Thursday.

NCB Financial climbs to a one-year high


NCB Financial climbed to a new 52 weeks high to close out the week at $65, up by 59 percent in the past twelve months on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, to be amongst the 26 rising stocks on Friday, out of 64 securities that were traded, up from 62 on Thursday, with 22 declining and 16 ending unchanged. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund gained 50 cents in closing at $45 with 5 stocks crossing the market, Guardian Holdings shed $12.94 to close at $325.05 in an exchange of 735 units, Jamaica Producers popped 85 cents to finish at $22.95 after the trading of 100 stocks. Kingston Properties lost $1.10 to $9.89 in an exchange of 19,353 shares, Kingston Wharves increased 60 cents to $36.30 with a transfer of 376 stock units, NCB Financial climbed $2 to finish at a 52 weeks closing high of $65 after an exchange of 235,149 shares, with the price trading at an intraday high of $66 and more that doubling since August last year. Proven Investments advanced 45 cents to $11.45 with 4,451 stocks passing through the market, Quantas Advantage dipped $1.01 in closing at $19.99 in switching ownership of 146,197 units, Sagicor Group rallied 70 cents to $39.70 with investors trading 4,467 stock units. Sagicor Real Estate Fund slipped 90 cents to $8.10 with 1,030,603 shares crossing the exchange, Scotia Group ended at $58.00 with dealers swapping 37,590 shares and Sygnus Real Estate Finance climbed $1.76 to end at $8.50 with 124 units clearing the market.
In the preference share segment, Eppley 7.25% preference share declined 44 cents and ended at $19.05 as investors exchanged 1,009 stocks, Jamaica Public Service 9.5% skidded $49.83 to finish at $2,350.17 with 10 shares changing hands, 138 Student Living preference share lost $30 to close at $205 with investors trading 89 stocks. Productive Business Solutions 10.5% dropped $99.74 to $1,100.26 after an exchange of 100 units and Sygnus Credit Investments C10.5% fell $5 to close at $100 in trading 2,850 stock units.

Trading pushes JSE Main Market higher


Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on a positive note to end the half-year mark on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 14 percent and the value 51 percent lower than on Monday, with trading in 61 securities compared with 61 on Monday, with prices of 23 rising, 22 declining and 16 ending unchanged, resulting in the market indices rising.

The market closed following trading of 33,496,717 shares for a value of $155,099,626, in comparison with 38,787,920 stocks at $319,454,428 on Monday.
Trading averaged 549,127 shares at $2,542,617, from 635,868 stocks at $5,236,958 on Monday and month to date, an average of 277,379 units vlaued at $3,134,117, in line with 263,880 shares at $3,163,499 on the previous day and May with an average of 328,145 stock units at $2,328,972.
Wigton Energy led trading with 15.35 million shares for 45.8 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund, ended with 5.26 million stocks for 15.7 percent of the day’s trade, Transjamaican Highway closed with 3.70 million stocks for 11 percent of the volume traded and Radio Jamaica with 2.48 million units for 7.4 percent of market share.

Carreras fell 70 cents and ended at $28, with 72,630 stock units clearing the market, Eppley skidded 40 cents to close at $32.99 with an exchange of 1,047 shares, First Rock Real Estate climbed 40 cents to finish at $8 after trading of 1,663 units. GraceKennedy ended at $70.50 after declining 50 cents with an exchange of 7,787, Guardian Holdings rallied $24.50 to $349.50, with 48 stock units crossing the market, JMMB Group slipped 46 cents to close at $14.52 in an exchange of 368,011 shares. Margaritaville increased $1.44 to end at $10.94 with investors dealing in 5 units, NCB Financial gained $1.99 in closing at $62.99, with 278,871 stocks crossing the exchange, Pan Jamaica dipped 60 cents to finish at $46.30 after a transfer of 203,086 stock units. Sagicor Group popped 76 cents to $39.49, with 432,654 shares crossing the market, Scotia Group climbed $1.42 to close at $58.92 after an exchange of 123,520 stocks, Seprod shed $1.01 to finish at $77.99 and closed after 3,566 units were traded. Supreme Ventures declined 49 cents and ended at $18 with investors trading 550,004 stock units and West Indies Petroleum increased 53 cents to end at $9.43 after an exchange of 5,909 shares.
In the preference segment, Eppley 7.25% preference share advanced $2.48 in closing at $19.05 with a transfer of 2,000 stocks. Jamaica Public Service 7% dropped $4.64 to $34.56 after 718 units passed through the market, 138 Student Living preference share rose $45 to finish at $245 in switching ownership of 3,308 stock units and Sygnus Credit Investments 10% gained $10.40 and ended at $114.40 as investors exchanged two shares.

Trading jumps on the JSE Main Market 


Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Monday, with a 76 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded and the value 25 percent more, compared to Friday, following trading in 61 securities compared with 57 on Friday, with prices of 27 rising, 16 declining and 18 ending unchanged.

The market closed with 38,787,920 shares trading for $319,454,428, up from 22,091,560 stock units at $255,435,039 on Friday.
Trading averaged 635,868 shares at $5,236,958, solidly above the 387,571 stock units at $4,481,316 on Friday. Trading month to date, ended with an average of 263,880 units at $3,163,499 compared with 244,436 shares at $3,055,118 on the previous trading day and May, with an average of 328,145 stock units at $2,328,972.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 17.93 million shares for 46.2 percent of total volume followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund, with 5.23 million stocks for 13.5 percent of the day’s trade, QWI Investments closed with 2.80 million stocks for 7.2 percent of the volume traded, Radio Jamaica ended with 2.56 million units for 6.6 percent of the total volume, Carreras closed trading with 2.09 million units for 5.4 percent of shares traded and Wigton Energy with 1.82 million units for 4.7 percent of market share.

Eppley rose 90 cents in closing at $33.39 with investors dealing in 2,938 units, General Accident advanced $1.05 to close at $8.90, after 1,285 shares passed through the market, Guardian Holdings fell $25 and ended at $325 with an exchange of 390 stocks. JMMB Group climbed 58 cents to $14.98, with 269,070 units changing hands, Kingston Properties increased $1 and ended at $11, with investors swapping 302,651 stock units, Massy Holdings gained $1.50 to end at $73, with 723 shares clearing the market. Proven Investments slipped 49 cents in closing at $10.51 in trading 483 stock units, Scotia Group lost 40 cents to finish at $57.50 and closed with an exchange of 25,927 stocks, Seprod dipped $1 to close at $79 in switching ownership of 2,296 units and Wisynco Group rose 42 cents to $20.22 after an exchange of 38,498 stocks.
In the preference  share segment, Eppley 7.25% preference share dropped $2.92 to end at $16.57 with investors trading 400 units, Jamaica Public Service 9.5% gained $445 in closing at $2,400 in an exchange of 121 shares, 138 Student Living preference share popped $27.99 to finish at $200, with 170,875 stock units crossing the market and Sygnus Credit Investments C10.5% advanced $6.49 and ended at $106.50 after a transfer of just one share.
