New high for JSE USD Market


The US Denominated Equities Index rallied 7.99 points to close at a new record high of 322.63 on the US Dollar Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with a year to date gain of 52 percent. Trading closed with a 386 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded, valued 181 percent more than on Thursday. The market closed with an exchange of six securities, compared with nine on Thursday with prices of one rising, three declining and two ending unchanged.

Trading closed with an exchange of 1,076,367 shares for US$79,709 up from just 221,390 stock units at US$28,376 on Thursday. An average of 179,395 shares were exchanged at US$13,285 compared to 24,599 stock units at US$3,153 on Thursday, with a month to date average of 144,344 units at US$12,672 compared with 141,748 stock units at US$12,627 on the previous day and July that ended with an average of 132,012 units for US$49,788. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows four stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers. The PE Ratio, one of the most used measures to determine appropriate stock values, averages 15. ICInsider.com compiles the earnings per share and the PE used in this report. The PE ratio is derived by dividing the last traded price of a stock by the earnings per share for the financial year ending around August 2026. At the close of market activity, First Rock Real Estate USD share dipped 0.07 of one cent to close at 1.8 US cents with 259 stock units crossing the exchange, Quantas Advantage shed 0.28 of a cent to end at 9.52 US cents after exchanging 2,000 shares, Sterling Investments ended at 2 US cents after it closed with trading of 100,954 stocks. Sygnus Credit Investments ended with an exchange of 4,480 shares at 0.05 US cents and Transjamaican Highway lost 0.27 of one cent to finish at 7.5 US cents changing hands 968,603 stocks.
In the preference segment, Sygnus Credit Investments E8.5% ended trading of 71 units at US$9.90.
