Trading ended mixed on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market compared with Friday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 23 percent with 12 percent lower value than on Friday. Investors exchanged 62 securities, up from 56 on Friday, with prices of 18 rising, 33 declining and 11 ending unchanged.
The market closed with 15,872,782 shares trading worth $183,203,796 compared with 12,870,467 stocks at $208,592,826 on Friday.
Trading averaged 256,013 shares at $2,954,900, relative to 229,830 stock units valued at $3,724,872 on Friday. Trading month to date, ended with an average of 336,340 units at $4,134,072, down mildly from 345,478 shares at $4,268,217 on the Friday and well above the average of 294,201 stock units at $3,175,664 during July.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 7.45 million shares for 46.9 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 2.12 million stocks for 13.3 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Energy with 1.19 million stock units for 7.5 percent of the total number of shares traded.
The All Jamaican Composite Index lost 344.01 points to finish at 444,799.26, the JSE Main Index advanced a mere 9.75 points to 373,264.92 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.11 points to 69.75. At the close, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows nine stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.

At the close of the day’s trading, AS Bryden advanced 45 cents and ended at $25 as investors exchanged 14,698 stocks, Barita Investments skidded $2.99 to $65 with a transfer of 95,429 units, Berger Paints rose 40 cents to $5.95 with investors swapping 49,542 shares. Caribbean Cement gained $5.09 in closing at $113.99 with 40,755 stock units crossing the exchange, First Rock Real Estate lost $1.97 to close at $5.52 with 1,412 shares changing hands, Jamaica Producers dropped $1.22 to finish at $20.60 with an exchange of 192 stock units. Kingston Properties ended at $12.00 with a transfer of 2,553 shares, Kingston Wharves shed 80 cents to $33.50 in trading 737,858 units, Margaritaville declined $1.28 to finish at $7.27 with 500 shares crossing the market.
Massy Holdings fell 40 cents to close at $72.10 with investors dealing in 355 stocks, NCB Financial dipped 55 cents in closing at $69.95 with 159,927 units crossing the market, Quantas Advantage increased 50 cents to end at $15.50 with investors trading 27,352 stock units. Sagicor Group slipped 67 cents to $41 with 415,596 shares changing hands, Sagicor Real Estate Fund climbed $1.42 to finish at $8.60 with investors trading 2,687 units, Scotia Group fell 93 cents and ended at $57.05 in an exchange of 44,419 stocks and Seprod rallied $3.89 in closing at $74.99 after trading of 1,266 stock units.
In the preference segment, Productive Business Solutions 10.5% popped $33 to close at $1,220 in an exchange of 113 shares and Sygnus Credit Investments 10% skidded $1.19 to end at $111.80 with 25 stocks passing through the market.Prices of securities trading are those of the last transaction.
