Junior Market falls into a new week


Trading jumped on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday, with a 133 percent increase in volume and a 30 percent spike in value, compared with Friday. The market closed with an exchange of 45 securities, moderately higher than the 44 on Friday, with prices of 17 rising, 19 declining and nine closing unchanged.

The market closed with 16,880,642 shares trading worth $18,718,294, after an increase from 7,242,538 units at $14,408,351 on Friday.
Trading averaged 375,125 shares with an average value of $415,962, up from 164,603 units at $327,463 on Friday. Trading for the month to date, averaged 365,965 units at $528,890, marginally different from 364,894 stock units at $542,090 on the previous day but well ahead of July, with an average of 280,479 shares at $401,436.
Woodcats International was the leading traded stock with 6.76 million shares for 40 percent of total volume followed by Derrimon Trading with 1.45 million stocks for 8.6 percent of the day’s trade, Atlantic Hardware closed with 1.25 million stock units for 7.4 percent of the volume traded, Fosrich with 1.22 million shares for 7.2 percent of the total trade, Omni Industries ended with 1.06 million stocks for 6.3 percent of the overall volume changing hands and EduFocal closed with 1.02 million stock units trading with 6 percent of the day’s volume.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index dropped 28.23 points to finish at 2,909.61. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows four stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and six with lower offers.
The Junior Market closed with with an average PE Ratio of 10.8. ICInsider.com compiles PE ratios, derived by dividing the last traded price of a stock by the earnings per share for companies with their financial year that ends around August 2026.
At the close of trading, Access Financial rallied $1.25 to close at $16.75 after swapping 6,931 stock units, AMG Packaging popped by 8 cents to $1.78 in switching ownership of 2,958 stocks, Blue Power shed 20 cents in closing at $3.70 with investors dealing in 5,196 shares. Caribbean Cream dropped 11 cents to finish at $2.14 with 38,474 stock units passing through the market, Consolidated Bakeries gained 24 cents and ended at $1.45 in an exchange of 39,379 shares, Derrimon Trading fell 8 cents to end at end at a 52 weeks low of 89 cents with investors trading 1,445,592 stocks. Dolla Financial rose 20 cents to a 52 weeks closing high of $3.70 after an exchange of 744,234 units, Dolphin Cove skidded 39 cents to $11 with 1,221 stock units changing hands, Elite Diagnostic climbed 9 cents to close at $1.39 after trading of 6,186 shares. Everything Fresh lost 29 cents to end at $1.80 with investors handling 12,743 stock units, Fosrich slipped 11 cents to finish at a 52 weeks low of $1.20 after a transfer of 1,222,090 units, Honey Bun increased 64 cents to $6.09 with trading of 1,063 stocks. Image Plus rose 9 cents to $1.19 following an exchange of 112,590 stock units, Indies Pharma dipped 12 cents in closing at $2.58 with 40,555 stock units crossing the market, Iron Rock Insurance declined 20 cents to close at $2 after an exchange of 4,718 units. ISP Finance rose 5 cents and ended at $7.55 with 1,151 stocks clearing the market, JFP shed 5 cents to finish at 50 cents in an exchange of 983,104 units, Mailpac Group rallied 6 cents to end at $2.61 with 4,158 stocks crossing the market. Main Event fell 68 cents in closing at $4 following trading of 8,923 shares, Spur Tree Spices increased 6 cents to $1.18 with 55,085 stock units crossing the exchange and Woodcats International dipped 8 cents and ended at a record low of 53 cents after a transfer of 6,758,083 shares.
