CIBC grabs T&T Exchange market share


CIBC Caribbean Bank ended with 505, 566 shares being traded for 85 percent of shares traded following a jump in trading activity on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Thursday. At the close, the number of stocks traded surged 568 percent, valued 312 percent more than on Wednesday, following trading of 27 securities up from 22 on Wednesday and ending with prices of 11 stocks rising, five declining and 11 ending firm.

The market closed with trading of 593,969 shares for $4,934,632 after climbing from 88,862 stock units at $1,198,896 on Wednesday.
An average of 21,999 shares were traded at $182,764, after increasing from 4,039 stock units at $54,495 on Wednesday, with trading month to date, averaging 16,550 shares at $145,397, moderately above 16,021 units at $141,766 on the previous day and an average for July of 11,573 shares at $105,485.
The Composite Index climbed 1.12 points to 1,016.67, the All T&T Index rose 3.90 points to end at 1,434.43, the SME Index dipped 0.48 points to 75.97 and the Cross-Listed Index shed 0.27 points to close at 79.87.

At the close of trading, Agostini remained at $54.90 with one unit clearing the market, Angostura Holdings gained 20 cents to close at $10.80 after an exchange of 5 stocks, Ansa McAl ended at $45 with investors swapping 121 shares. Ansa Merchant Bank remained at $28.30 after an exchange of 101 stock units, AS Bryden popped 1 cent to $1.50 with trading of  just a share, after CIBC Caribbean Bank ended at $7.55 after an exchange of 505,566 stock units. CinemaOne remained at $3.98 after trading of 213 stocks, Endeavour Holdings ended at $14.60 after the switching of ownership of 499 stock units, Eric Solis Marketing remained at $4.17 with investors dealing in 3 shares. First Citizens Group ended at $39 after an exchange of 2,779 stocks, GraceKennedy dropped 40 cents to $4 with investors trading 12,820 units, Guardian Holdings lost 5 cents to finish at $16.30 with an exchange of 2,421 stock units. JMMB Group ended at 84 cents with 21 shares passing through the market, Massy Holdings rallied 2 cents in closing at $3.42 in trading 45,773 units, Medcorp jumped $7.20 to finish at $43.70 with one stock changing hands. National Enterprises remained at $4.70 as investors exchanged 10 stock units, National Flour Mills skidded 1 cent to close at $1.58 with a transfer of 812 shares, NCB Financial climbed 13 cents to end at $3.43 with 10 stocks crossing the market. One Caribbean Media fell 7 cents in closing at $1.56 after a transfer of 600 units, Point Lisas rose 20 cents to $7.20 with 9,432 stock units crossing the exchange, 

Prestige Holdings advanced by $1.10 to close at $12.10 with a transfer of 2 shares. Republic Financial rose $2 to finish at $112 with 3,204 stocks passing through the market, Scotiabank gained 24 cents and ended at $45.75 in an exchange of 6,522 units, Trinidad & Tobago NGL slipped 12 cents to end at $10.37 with investors trading 1,463 stock units. Trinidad Cement rose 2 cents and ended at $1.77 with investors transferring 1,000 shares, Unilever Caribbean increased 62 cents and ended at $16.12 with 30 units crossing the market and West Indian Tobacco ended at $4.20 as investors exchanged 559 stocks.
