Solid gains for JSE Junior Market   


The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues its recovery from the fall occasioned by the two public share issues that closed last week, with the market Index popping 46.94 points, up by 1.33 percent to 3,586.13, with trading in 45 securities, up from 44 on Wednesday and ending with prices of 21 rising, 15 declining and nine closing unchanged, with Fontana closing at a 52 weeks’ high of $9.50, Stationery and Office Supplies closing at a 52 weeks’ low of $1.41 and RA Williams trading at an intraday 52 weeks’ low of 57 cents.

The market closed with trading of 13,245,591 shares for $24,563,567 compared to 15,529,234 units at $24,827,930 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 294,346 shares at $545,857, somewhat lower than the 352,937 stocks at $564,271 on Wednesday, with the month to date, averaging 301,798 stock units at $763,470 in line with 302,258 stock units at $776,903 on the previous day compared to February that ended with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.
ONE on ONE Educational led trading with 3.24 million shares for 24.5 percent of total volume followed by Derrimon Trading which ended with 2.68 million stocks for 20.2 percent of the day’s trade, Fosrich closed with 2.61 million stocks for 19.7 percent of the volume traded and Jamaican Teas with 1.90 million units for 14.4 percent of market share.
At the close of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows seven stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and none with a lower offer.

Slippage for JSE Junior Market


After a spirited recovery in the past two days, the market index of the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange pulled back moderately on Tuesday, with a fall of just 16.61 points to settle at 3,539.19 on Wednesday. The volume and the value of stocks crossing the market increased 26 percent and 4 percent respectively over Tuesday, following trading in 44 securities as well as Tuesday and ending with prices of 14 rising, 15 declining and 15 closing unchanged, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows signs that trading could deliver gains on Thursday, see below.

The market closed with trading of 15,529,234 shares for $24,827,930, up from 12,294,992 stock units at $23,929,634 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 352,937 shares at $564,271 compared to 279,432 stocks at $543,855 on Tuesday, with trading for the month to date averaging 302,258 stock units at $776,903, just surpassing 299,003 stock units at $790,561 on the prior day and higher than February with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.
ONE on ONE Educational led trading with 4.86 million shares for 31.3 percent of total volume followed by Jamaican Teas which ended with 2.27 million stocks for 14.6 percent of the day’s trade, Kintyre Holdings closed with 1.86 million stock units for 12 percent of the volume traded, Fosrich closed with 1.82 million shares for 11.7 percent of traded stocks and Derrimon Trading with 1.47 million shares for 9.4 percent of market share.

Rebounding Junior Market


Following the steep sell off of stocks on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange leading up to the public share issues that closed last week, the market made a spirited recovery over the past two days, ending with a 54.28 points jump on Tuesday to close at 3,555.80. The volume of stock traded fell 39 percent as the value dropped 75 percent lower than Monday, following trading in 44 securities down from 46 on Monday and ending with prices of 26 rising, only 10 declining and eight closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 12,294,992 shares at $23,929,634, well below the 19,996,597 units at $94,755,148 on Monday.
Trading averaged 279,432 shares at $543,855, down from 434,709 stocks at $2,059,895 on Monday, with the month to date, averaging 299,003 units at $790,561, which is aligned with the 300,346 stock units at $807,495 on the previous day compared with February with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 4.24 million shares for 34.5 percent of total volume followed by Fosrich which ended with 1.83 million stocks for 14.8 percent of the day’s trade, Kintyre Holdings closed with 1.05 million stock units for 8.5 percent of the volume traded, Derrimon Trading with 1.04 million shares for 8.5 percent of the volume traded and ONE on ONE Educational with 1.04 million stocks for 8.4 percent of market trade.

Big trading bounce for Junior Market


Trading jumped on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday with the volume of stocks changing hands surging 91 percent to 19,996,597 shares worth $94,755,148, up significantly by 877 percent above the 10,451,559 units at just $9,701,596 on Friday, with Fontana chipping in with 8.7 million shares worth just over $78 million, and with trading in 46 securities up from 40 on Friday and resulting in the prices of 24 securities rising, 10 declining and 12 closing unchanged.

Trading averaged 434,709 shares at $2,059,895 up sharply from 261,289 stocks at $242,540 on Friday with a month to date average of 300,346 units at $807,495 slightly above the 289,958 stock units at $710,671 on the previous day and February with an average of 246,071 shares for $454,487.

It was Indies Pharma day on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with the Montego Bay based pharmaceutical company, leading trading on the market with 35 million shares for 89 percent of all the stocks traded and pushing the Junior Market trading volume up by 201 percent and the value up 1,515 percent more than Tuesday following trading in 41 securities, down from 43 on Tuesday and ending with prices of 11 rising, 17 declining and 13 closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 39,456,958 shares that are worth $223,895,604, sharply up on the 13,087,289 units at $13,862,015 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 962,365 shares valued at $5,460,868, well above the 304,356 stocks at $322,372 on Tuesday with trading for the month to date, averaging 284,644 units at $732,002 more than the 225,650 stocks at $320,359 on the previous day and February with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.

Junior Market drops, 1on1 leads trading


One on One Education, e-learning providers, closed trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Monday, with just under a third of the shares traded in the overall market, with a 61 percent drop in the volume of stocks traded with a 37 percent lower value than Friday following with trading in 44 securities on both Monday and Friday and ending with prices of 11 rising, 22 declining and 11 closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 8,741,477 shares for $14,081,470 down from 22,390,313 stock units at $22,377,409 on Friday.

Kintyre takes ½ of Junior Market trades


Kintyre Holdings accounted for almost half of the stocks traded on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, resulting in a 127 percent rise in the traded volume, with a 138 percent jump in value over Thursday with trading in 44 securities, up from 41 on Thursday and ending with prices of 16 rising, 17 declining and 11 closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 22,390,313 shares for $22,377,409 up from just 9,855,862 stock units at $9,421,929 on Thursday.

Kintyre Holdings led trading with 10.96 million shares for 49 percent of total volume followed by ONE on ONE Educational with 2.95 million stocks for 13.2 percent of the day’s trade, Mailpac Group closed with 2.34 million stocks for 10.4 percent of the volume traded and Omni Industries with 1.07 million units for 4.8 percent of market share.

Mailpac Group popped 10 cents and ended at $2.45 in trading 2,337,682 shares, Main Event lost 20 cents to close at $10.80 after an exchange of 214 units, Paramount Trading dropped 11 cents in closing at $1 with a transfer of 200,000 stocks and Tropical Battery fell 16 cents to end at $2.36 as investors exchanged 16,686 stock units.
