Trading drops on Junior Market


Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with a 15 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded, with a 30 percent lower value than Tuesday from trading in 41 securities down from 44 on Tuesday and ending with prices of 10 rising, 23 declining and eight closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 9,257,198 shares for $12,706,033 down from 10,891,843 stock units at $18,155,914 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 225,785 shares at $309,903 below the 247,542 stock units valued at $412,634 on Tuesday with the month to date, averaging 174,602 units valued at $304,838 in line with 166,468 stock units at $304,033 on the previous day and lower than February with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.
MFS Capital Partners led trading with 2.02 million shares for 21.8 percent of the total volume followed by Kintyre Holdings with 1.74 million units for 18.8 percent of the day’s trade and ONE on ONE Educational with 934,062 stocks for 10.1 percent of the volume traded.

Trading averaged 247,542 shares at $412,634 compared with 205,547 stocks at $302,385 on Monday with a month to date average of 166,468 units at $304,033 compared with 149,799 stock units at $281,703 on the previous day and February with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.

MFS Capital dominant Junior Market trade


After weeks of suspension, MFS Capital Partners heads trading activity on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with just over 28 percent of the volume exchanged and contributed in a major way in staving off a bigger decline than the 2 percent fall in the volume of stocks traded, but could not prevent a steep 34 percent drop in value compared to Thursday following trading in 45 securities compared with 44 on Thursday and ending with prices of 13 rising, 21 declining and 11 closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 6,078,064 shares for $10,022,406 down from 6,215,396 units at $15,198,884 on Thursday.
Trading ended in an average of 135,068 shares at $222,720 notably below the 141,259 stocks at $345,429 on Thursday with a month to date, average of 136,186 units at $276,653 almost in line with 136,582 stock units at $295,763 on the previous day and well off from February with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.
MFS Capital Partners led trading with 1.72 million shares for 28.3 percent of total volume with the stock closing at a 52 weeks’ low of 50 cents, followed by Mailpac Group which ended with 898,950 units for 14.8 percent of the day’s trade and Lumber Depot with 751,407 stocks for 12.4 percent of the volume traded.

Junior Market clobbered


The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange suffered a hefty blow on Monday, with the need to fund public share issues seeming to be playing a role as such issues did in the past, this is following a huge 72 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded, with a 67 percent lower value than on Friday after the exchange of 44 securities compared with 45 on Friday.

The market closed with prices of just 10 rising, 24 declining and 10 closing unchanged with the Junior Market Index down sharply at the close with a sizable drop of 67.08 points to 3,560.28.
The market closed with trading of 7,155,019 shares for $14,911,504, down from 25,193,200 stock units at $45,578,261 on Friday with trading ending with an average of 162,614 shares for $338,898, well below the 559,849 stocks at $1,012,850 on Friday and February that closed with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.
Derrimon Trading led trading with 1.12 million shares for 15.6 percent of total volume followed by Everything Fresh which ended with 1.02 million units for 14.3 percent of the day’s trade and Jamaican Teas with 930,218 stocks for 13 percent of the volume traded.

Trading activity climbed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Friday, to close out the month resulting in a 182 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded, following a 134 percent rise in value over Thursday with trading in 45 securities compared with 44 on Thursday and ending with prices of 19 rising, 14 declining and 12 closing unchanged.

The market closed trading with an exchange of 25,193,200 amounting to $45,578,261 up from 8,941,253 units at $19,448,755 on Thursday. Trading averaged 559,849 stocks at $1,012,850 well over the 203,210 shares at $442,017 on Thursday with the month to date, averaging 246,071 units at $454,487 slightly more than the 229,120 stock units at $424,323 on the previous day and January with an average of 350,850 shares at $615,775.

Dolphin Cove popped $1.50 to end at $14 in switching ownership of 94,773 units, but only after hitting an intraday 52 weeks’ low of $11.90, Future Energy rallied 17 cents to finish at $3.47 after an exchange of 248,009 stocks, Honey Bun lost 23 cents and ended at $7.85 with investors dealing in 6,690 units. Indies Pharma increased 41 cents to $3.77 after an exchange of 488,333 shares, Iron Rock Insurance advanced 15 cents to finish at $3.75 with 10 stock units clearing the market, ISP Finance gained 73 cents and ended at $22 with trading of 2,002 shares. Knutsford Express popped $1.08 in closing at $14.37 after a transfer of 66,727 stocks, Limners and Bards dropped 14 cents to $1.13 as investors exchanged 103,794 stock units, Medical Disposables sank 23 cents to end at $1.38 with a transfer of 18,007 stock units. Regency Petroleum advanced 12 cents in closing at $3.37 with 533,209 shares being traded, Stationery and Office Supplies rose 13 cents to $1.68 with an exchange of 1,771,466 stock units and tTech climbed 8 cents and ended at $1.45 with 704 stocks crossing the market.

Trading pulled back on Junior Market

Trading activity pulled back from Wednesday’s heightened levels on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, with a 78 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded at a 77 percent lower value than, resulting from trading in 44 securities down from 46 on Wednesday and ending with prices of 14 rising, 20 declining and 10 unchanged, with the market index just slipping, to be down 4 percent year to date.

The market closed with trading of 8,941,253 shares for $19,448,755 down from 40,888,827 stock units at $84,909,114 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 203,210 shares at $442,017 well off the average of 888,888 stocks for $1,845,850 on Wednesday with a month to date, average of 229,120 stock units at $424,323 and comparing well with 230,565 stock units at $423,336 on the previous day and January with an average of 350,850 shares at $615,775.

Everything Fresh led trading with 1.82 million shares for 20.4 percent of total volume followed by Regency Petroleum with 1.45 million stocks for 16.2 percent of the day’s trade, Derrimon Trading closed with 1.14 million stocks for 12.7 percent of volume traded and ONE on ONE Educational with 1.07 million units for 12 percent of market share.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index skidded 4.09 points to end at 3,583.86. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with a bid higher than the last selling price and three with lower offers.

ISP Finance dropped $1.42 to end at $21.27 with 6,974 units crossing the exchange, JFP Ltd gained 7 cents and ended at 82 cents in switching ownership of 11,265 shares, Lasco Financial popped 9 cents to finish at $1.59 after an exchange of 950,057 stock units. Regency Petroleum climbed 10 cents to $3.25 in trading 1,452,650 shares, Spur Tree Spices increased 8 cents to close at $1.50 with 332,517 units clearing the market and tTech rose 12 cents to finish at $1.37 in an exchange of 1,250 stocks.
