Trading climbs on Junior Market


Trading activity dropped on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded diving 51 percent with the value jumping 40 percent compared to Wednesday. The market closed with 37 securities changing ownership compared with 41 on Wednesday and ending with prices of 12 advancing, 11 declining and 14 closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 11,731,854 shares for $80,157,352, down from 24,097,251 units at $57,354,315 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 317,077 shares at $2,166,415 compared to 587,738 stocks at $1,398,886 on the prior day, with trading the month to date, averaging 339,903 stock units at $1,207,149 compared to 349,610 stocks at $799,185 on the previous day and March with an average of 307,021 shares at $759,432.
Fontana led trading with 8.13 million shares for 69.3 percent of the total volume, followed by ONE on ONE Educational with 1.01 million stock units for 8.6 percent of the day’s trade and Dolla Financial with 786,388 stocks for 6.7 percent of the volume traded.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index increased 7.76 points to close at 3,577.36. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows six stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.

Heavy Regency trading on Junior Market


Regency Petroleum led trading with 17 million shares for 70.6 percent of total volume followed by Kintyre Holdings, with 3.4 million stocks for 14.1 percent of the day’s trade and ONE on ONE Educational with 1.7 million stock units for 7.1 percent of the day’s trade as they pushed the volume and value of trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange well above trading on Tuesday, with a 281 percent rise in the volume traded valued 371 percent more than on Tuesday.

The Junior Market Index rose 34.11 points to end at 3,569.60 following trading in 41 securities, down from 46 on Tuesday, with prices of only 13 rising, 20 declining and eight closing unchanged.
The market closed with trading of 24,097,251 shares for $57,354,315, four times the 6,318,830 units traded on Tuesday at $12,174,798.
Trading averaged 587,738 shares worth $1,398,886, well above the 137,366 stock units at $264,670 on Tuesday, with the month to date, averaging 349,610 units at $799,185 compared to March with an average of 307,021 shares at $759,432.

Junior Market dives on reduced volume


The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange plunged on Tuesday and gave by all of the 70 points gains on Monday and those for last week Thursday and Friday, with trading plunging from Monday’s levels with the volume of stocks traded dropping 69 percent and the value declining 74 percent below the level on Monday. Market activity led to trading in 46 securities, equal to Monday and ended with prices of just nine rising, 28 declining and nine closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 6,318,830 shares for $12,174,798, steeply down from 20,549,503 units at $46,764,453 on Monday.
Trading averaged 137,366 shares at $264,670, well below the 446,728 stocks at $1,016,619 on Monday, compared to and March with an average of 307,021 shares with a value of $759,432.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 1.85 million shares for 29.3 percent of the total volume, followed by Dolla Financial, which ended with 907,116 stock units for 14.4 percent of the day’s trade and JFP Ltd with 372,308 stocks for 5.9 percent of the volume traded.

5 Junior Market stocks close at 1 year highs


Trading activity closed out March on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday, with five stocks hitting 52 weeks’ closing highs, one ending at a 52 weeks’ closing low and one with an intraday 52 weeks’ low, following a 75 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded, valued 134 percent more than on Friday following trading in 46 securities, similar to Friday. Trading ended with prices of 21 stocks rising, 15 declining and 10 closing unchanged, resulting in the market index climbing to close the first quarter of the year down 1.6 percent.

Fosrich, Gwest Corporation, Indies Pharma, Jamaican Teas as well as Regency Petroleum all closed at 52 weeks’ highs. ISP Finance ended at a 52 weeks’ closing low and Paramount Trading hit a 52 weeks’ intraday low of 80 cents.
The market closed with trading of 20,549,503 shares for $46,764,453, up sharply from 11,738,756 stock units at $19,977,567 on Friday.

Activity on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday, with the volume declining 11 percent, with 19 percent lower value than Thursday following trading in 46 securities compared with 45 on Thursday and ending with prices of 22 rising, 11 declining and 13 closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 11,738,756 shares for $19,977,567 compared with 13,245,591 units at $24,563,567 on Thursday.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues its recovery from the fall occasioned by the two public share issues that closed last week, with the market Index popping 46.94 points, up by 1.33 percent to 3,586.13, with trading in 45 securities, up from 44 on Wednesday and ending with prices of 21 rising, 15 declining and nine closing unchanged, with Fontana closing at a 52 weeks’ high of $9.50, Stationery and Office Supplies closing at a 52 weeks’ low of $1.41 and RA Williams trading at an intraday 52 weeks’ low of 57 cents.

The market closed with trading of 13,245,591 shares for $24,563,567 compared to 15,529,234 units at $24,827,930 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 294,346 shares at $545,857, somewhat lower than the 352,937 stocks at $564,271 on Wednesday, with the month to date, averaging 301,798 stock units at $763,470 in line with 302,258 stock units at $776,903 on the previous day compared to February that ended with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.

After a spirited recovery in the past two days, the market index of the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange pulled back moderately on Tuesday, with a fall of just 16.61 points to settle at 3,539.19 on Wednesday. The volume and the value of stocks crossing the market increased 26 percent and 4 percent respectively over Tuesday, following trading in 44 securities as well as Tuesday and ending with prices of 14 rising, 15 declining and 15 closing unchanged, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows signs that trading could deliver gains on Thursday, see below.

Rebounding Junior Market


Following the steep sell off of stocks on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange leading up to the public share issues that closed last week, the market made a spirited recovery over the past two days, ending with a 54.28 points jump on Tuesday to close at 3,555.80. The volume of stock traded fell 39 percent as the value dropped 75 percent lower than Monday, following trading in 44 securities down from 46 on Monday and ending with prices of 26 rising, only 10 declining and eight closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 12,294,992 shares at $23,929,634, well below the 19,996,597 units at $94,755,148 on Monday.
Trading averaged 279,432 shares at $543,855, down from 434,709 stocks at $2,059,895 on Monday, with the month to date, averaging 299,003 units at $790,561, which is aligned with the 300,346 stock units at $807,495 on the previous day compared with February with an average of 246,071 shares at $454,487.

Fontana increased 20 cents to end at $9.20 with investors trading 85,529 stocks, Future Energy rallied 9 cents in closing at $3.28 with 155,275 units crossing the market, GWest Corporation rose 9 cents to close at 96 cents with investors dealing in 47,851 stock units. Indies Pharma shed 12 cents to end at $3.82 after an exchange of 23,458 shares, Iron Rock Insurance advanced 19 cents to end at $3.99 with 25 units clearing the market, Jamaican Teas popped 6 cents in closing at $2.45 after an exchange of 4,243,169 stock units. JFP Ltd increased 7 cents to finish at 72 cents with 24,739 stock units crossing the market, Main Event climbed $1.29 and ended at $11.99 with traders dealing in 350 shares, MFS Capital Partners gained 6 cents to close at 46 cents with 1,730 stock units switching owners and Regency Petroleum rallied 9 cents to $3.25 with investors trading 182,437 units.
