Trading dips on Junior Market


Trading slipped moderately on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, as investors swapped just 40 securities, down from trading in all listed securities on the Junior Market on Thursday and ending, with prices of nine rising, 22 declining and nine closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 8,772,822 shares for $8,852,451, after falling from 10,033,838 units at $9,357,313 on Thursday.
Notwithstanding the decline in the value and value of stocks trading on Thursday, the market closed on Friday with a higher average of 219,321 shares at $221,311, compared with 209,038 stocks at $194,944 on Thursday with the month to date, averaging 304,297 stock units at $275,290, following declines from 318,761 stock units at $284,477 on the previous day and March, with an average of 410,874 shares at $527,130.
Kintyre Holdings led trading with 4.86 million shares for 55.4 percent of total volume, followed by Jetcon Corporation, with 1.0 million units for 11.4 percent of the day’s trade and Woodcats International with 626,804 stocks for 7.1 percent of the volume traded.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index climbed a mere 1.13 points to 3,293.48. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows six stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 15.8, derived by dividing the last traded price of stocks by the earnings per share.

At the close of the market, Access Financial dipped 42 cents to $17 with trading of 30 shares, AMG Packaging advanced 18 cents to $2.16 after dealers swapped 1,575 stock units, Blue Power lost 31 cents to close at $3.32 with an exchange of 7,146 shares. Caribbean Flavours popped 8 cents to finish at $1.59 with 2,000 units crossing the market, Dolla Financial dropped 6 cents and ended at $2.29 in an exchange of 370,893 stocks, Fontana fell 11 cents in closing at $7.66, following the trading of 15,564 shares. Future Energy rallied 6 cents to $3.56 as investors exchanged 158,599 stock units, GWest Corporation sank 12 cents in closing at 67 cents with a transfer of 100,000 stocks, Honey Bun slipped 13 cents and ended at $6.36 after an exchange of 50 units. Jamaican Teas rose 26 cents to close at $2.56 with investors swapping mere 150 stocks, Lumber Depot sank 10 cents to end at $2.60 after an exchange of 16,508 units, Mailpac Group shed 20 cents to finish at $2.46 with investors trading 319,410 shares. Medical Disposables declined 9 cents and ended at $1.15 with 1,710 stocks passing through the market, MFS Capital Partners skidded 10 cents to 67 cents with only 2,639 shares crossing the exchange, Paramount Trading sank 8 cents in closing at $1.08 with investors dealing in 1,942 units. Regency Petroleum gained 9 cents to finish at $4.29 in an exchange of 33,839 stocks and Stationery and Office Supplies declined 14 cents to end at $1.55 with 29,978 stock units crossing the market.

Purity jumps 54% back into ICTOP10


The Junior Market’s Consolidated Bakeries surged 54 percent during the week in recovering from a big fall in the prior week, with investors responding to the company returning to profit in the March quarter following a loss in the 2024 fiscal year.

The Junior Market ICTOP10 ended with 6 stocks rising and only one declining. The Main Market ICTOP 10 ended with four stocks rising and only one declining.
In the Main market, Margaritaville climbed 7 percent to $13.20, 138 Student Living, popped 6 percent to $4.27, followed by QWI Investments, up 4 percent to 78 cents and NCB Financial lost 7 percent to close at a 52 week low of $40.
In the Junior Market, Expres Catering rose 8 percent to $2.69, Dolla Financial rallied 3 percent to $2.55 and Kintyre Holdings, the only loser, shed 7 percent to end at 27 cents.
The Junior Market IC TOP10 saw two additions, following the updated earnings for Consolidated Bakeries, with the stock jumping 54 percent during the week. This follows the first quarter results that resulted in updated earnings of 30 cents per share for 2025 and Medical Disposables makes it with updated projection of 45 cents per share, following B revenue growth and profits in the March quarter. Image Plus and Cargo Handlers dropped out of the Junior Market list. There are no new listings in the Main and the All JSE ICTOP10 for the week.

ICTOP10 weekly winner jumps 25%


The Junior Market’s Elite Diagnostic surged 25 percent in the week to close at $1.50, but MFS Partners fell 21 percent to 42 cents, after six stocks rose in the Junior Market and four fell, in a week when the market traded at a 4 year low, going back to May 2021

The Main Market TOP10 ended with only one losing stock, with 138 Student Living, the biggest winner rising 9 percent, followed by Caribbean Producers, up 6 percent to land at $8.02, QWI Investments and NCB Financial both gained 4 percent, while Scotia Group lost 4 percent.
In the Junior Market, AMG Packaging rose 10 percent to $2.30, Kintyre Holdings rallied 7 percent to 29 cents, Access Financial popped 7 percent to $16.68 and Dolla Financial was up 6 percent to $2.48. Expres Catering fell 8 percent to $2.50 and Cargo Handlers declined by 6 percent to $9.75.

Declines for ICTOP10 stocks


The Main Market’s Margaritaville jumped 17 percent this past week to close at $12.36 after falling 25 percent in the previous week. All other ICTOP10 stocks declined or closed relatively stable.

At the close of the week, the Main Market TOP10, Caribbean Producers declined by 11 percent to $8.02, Guardian Holdings lost 10 percent to end at $318 and VVM Investments declined by 7 percent to $2. In the Junior Market, Kintyre Holdings fell 10 percent to 27 cents, Access financials dropped 8 percent to $15.51, Limners & Bards lost 6 percent to $1.15, Image Plus declined by 5 percent to 95 cents and Elite Diagnostic slipped 4 percent to $1.20. In the All JSE ICTOP10 listings, Caribbean Producers replaced 138 Student Living.
Limners & Bards fell out of the IC Junior Market TOP10 and is replaced by Cargo Handlers.

Main Market ICTOP10 steady, Juniors volatile


Action in the ICTOP10 was mostly in the Junior Market, except for the Main Market’s Margaritaville, that fell 25 percent to close at $10. ICTOP10 Main Market stocks were relatively stable at the close of the week, but the Junior Market list bounced around.

At the close of the week, Guardian Holdings rose 4 percent to $355. In the Junior Market, Limners & Bards climbed 13 percent to $1.22, MFS Partners rallied 6 percent to 53 cents, Elite Diagnostic fell 13 percent to $1.25 and AMG Packaging lost 11 percent to close at $2.13.

Big gains for Main Market ICTOP10


ICTOP10 Main Market stocks had four B winners and one loser, while the Junior Market list recorded two big losers, with the majority ending with stable or minimal price changes.

At the close of the week, 138 Student living pushed 12 percent higher to $3.70, Margaritaville rose 11 percent to close at $14.08, Proven Investments rallied 9 percent to 12 US cents, Caribbean Producers climbed 6 percent to $9, Guardian Holdings fell 6 percent to $340. In the Junior Market, Caribbean Insurance Brokers and AMG Packaging lost 8 percent in value to close at $2.21 and $2.40, respectively.
Proven Investments dropped out of the Main Market ICTOP10, with Transjamaican Highway replacing it. The Junior Market list had no change. All JSE ICTOP10 listings ended with Proven Investments dropping out and replaced, with the return of Scotia Group.

ICTOP10 MFS Partners jumps 36%


MFS Partners closed the shortened week up 14 percent after gaining as much as 36 percent at its peak on the back of B buying during the week. Kintyre Holdings could not hold on to the level reached in the prior week and dropped 15 percent to 29 cents following an announcement that the company is partnering in a new venture.
Other major movers in the Junior Market ICTOP10 are AMG Packaging and Elite Diagnostic, with an increase of 11 percent each to $2.62 and $1.44, respectively and Dolla Financial popping 6 percent to $2.52. Trading in the Main Market IC TOP 10 continues to be steadier than the Junior Market, with Caribbean Producers rising 6 percent to close at $8.49, following the solid increase in first quarter profit and Guardian Holdings declined 8 percent to $360. There are no new listings for the Main or the Junior Market ICTOP10. All JSE ICTOP10  ended with Express Catering returning after dropping out last week, while AMG Packaging dropped out this week. MFS Partners leaps in ICTOP10


The Junior Market ICTOP10 has two new listings since ICInsider.com’s report two weeks ago, with MFS Partners and Caribbean Assurance Brokers, moving into the Junior Market TOP10, following a period with some sharp movements in the Jamaica stock market and the top 10 listings.

AMG Packaging declined 14 percent, Elite Diagnostic dived 13 percent, Dolla Financial dropped 12 percent and Express Catering slipped 5 percent. Following the solid increase of 176 percent in the first quarter profit, Caribbean Flavours jumped sharply by 29 percent, followed by Kintyre Holdings, up 6 percent and Iron Rock Insurance with a gain of 5 percent.
Trading in the Main Market IC TOP 10 was steadier than the Junior Market, Margaritaville rising 14 percent, Guardian Holdings climbing 12 percent and Scotia Group rising 8 percent. 138 Student Living lost 9 percent, following a 36 percent fall in profit reported in the March quarter, Caribbean Producers and NCB Financial fell 6 percent each, even as the former reported a meaningful 20 percent increase in first quarter earnings.

Guardian rises 13%, Elite 11% on ICTOP10


The JSE Main Market stocks gained close to 3 percent during the past week and those listed on the Junior Market were up just under one percent. The performance of ICTOP10 stocks was vastly different in both markets. The Junior Market TOP10 listings had Elite Diagnostic jumping 11 percent to finish at $1.50, AMG Packaging rising 10 percent to close at $2.74 and Dolla Financial increasing 10 percent to finish at $2.69.

Caribbean Assurance fell 9 percent following the belated reporting of the 2024 results, with a major increase in employee costs pushing the operations into a loss and Caribbean Flavours fell 6 percent to $1.16.
In the Main Market ICTOP10, Guardian Holdings rose 13 percent to $347, but Margaritaville dropped 23 percent to $11, Innovative Energy dipped 5 percent to $1.22 and so did VM investments in closing at $2.18.
At the end of the week, the Junior Marlet ICTOP10 ended with Caribbean Assurance and Dolphin Cove dropping out of the TOP10 and were replaced by Image Plus and Iron Rock Insurance. There are no changes to the Main Market ICTOP10 list. The All JSE ICTOP10 listings remained unchanged, but the order changed markedly, with Guardian Holdings dropping to the number 3 position and 138 Student Living climbing to the top.

Kintyre jumps 11%, still tops ICTOP10


Iron Rock Insurance rocketed higher in the past week to be the top-performing ICTOP10 stock in the Easter Holiday shortened period with a gain of 23 percent and dropped out of the Junior Market TOP10 listings. Kintyre Holdings was next with a rise of 11 percent, yet still leads the Junior Market listing. Margaritaville is up 10 percent in the Main Market, in a shortened week, with the Junior Market rising just 21 points and the Main Market Index gained a solid 3,271 points.

At the end of the week, the Junior Marlet ICTOP10 main losers were AMG Packaging down 11 percent to close at $2.50, Dolphin Cove falling 10 percent to $12.43 and Elite Diagnostic declining 7 percent to finish at $1.35.
In the Main Market ICTOP10, Guardian Holdings rose 6 percent to $308, and could rise further in the weeks ahead, with the visible supply of shares on offer plunging to less than 60,000 units. VM investments gained 6 percent to close at $2.30, while NCB Financial rallied 5 percent to close at $46. QWI investments was the only stock declining, down 1 percent to $0.78.
In the All JSE ICTOP10, Express Catering replaced NCB Financial, while Limners and Bards returned to the Junior Market ICTOP10.
