For a second consecutive day, the volume of stocks traded on the Main Market on Wednesday declined, with a fall of12 percent as the value dropped 23 percent lower than on Tuesday, after the trading of 53 securities similar to Tuesday, with 19 rising, 24 declining and ten ending unchanged.
JMMB Group traded at a 52 weeks’ intraday low of $32 and QWI Investments closed at a 52 weeks’ low of 61 cents.
A total of 6,016,425 shares were traded for $56,503,512, down from 6,830,613 units at $73,463,083 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 113,517 units at $1,066,104 versus 128,879 shares at $1,386,096 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 199,577 units at $1,488,174 down from 204,819 units at $1,513,886 on the previous trading day. October closed with an average of 231,243 units at $1,464,224.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 1.95 million shares for 32.4 percent of total volume followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 705,686 units for 11.7 percent of the day’s trade and Transjamaican Highway with 568,392 units for 9.4 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index gained 909.90 points to close at 381,023.03, the JSE Main Index dropped 2,865.97 points in closing at 335,632.44 and the JSE Financial Index lost 1.43 points to settle at 80.00.

More gains than losses on TTSE
Market activity picked up on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with a 60 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded as 21 percent more funds entered the market compared with trading on Tuesday and resulted in 20 securities trading up from 18 on Tuesday, with prices of seven rising, one declining and 12 remaining unchanged.
Investors exchanged 763,837 shares for $7,220,624, up from 478,325 shares for $5,985,979 on Tuesday.
An average of 38,192 shares were swapped for $361,031 compared to 26,574 units at $332,554 on Tuesday, Trading month to date averages 58,471 shares at $531,410 versus 59,889 units at $543,325 on the previous day. The average trade for October amounts to 29,755 at $358,068.
The Composite Index gained 1.32 points to 1,303.03 the All T&T Index rallied 3.85 points to 1,960.03 and the Cross-Listed Index dipped 0.19 points to close at 83.98.

Rising stocks beat losers on JSE USD Market
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Tuesday with an 85 percent drop in the volume of stocks exchanged with the value plunging 91 percent lower than on Monday, resulting in trading in seven securities, compared to 11 on Monday with four rising, one declining and two ending unchanged.
Overall, 49,024 shares were traded for US$5,622, down sharply from 334,981 units at US$60,270 on Monday.
Trading averaged 7,003 shares at US$803, compared with 30,453 units at US$5,479 on Monday. The month to date, averages 27,327 shares at US$3,468 versus 28,503 units at US$3,622 on the previous trading day. October ended with an average of 40,972 units for US$2,277.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index lost 4.13 points to end at 224.76.

Stocks gained in Trinidad
Rising stocks overpowered those declining at the close of market activity on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, as 49 percent fewer shares were exchanged after 58 percent less funds passed through the market compared to Monday and resulting in 18 securities trading down from 21 on Monday and resulted in six stocks rising, two declining and ten remaining unchanged.
Investors exchanged 478,325 shares for $5,985,979, down from 932,857 stocks at $14,247,158 on Monday.
An average of 26,574 shares were traded at $332,554 compared to 44,422 units at $678,436 on Monday. Trading month to date averaged 59,889 shares at $543,325 versus 62,127 units at $557,481 on the previous day. Trading in October ended with an average of 29,755 shares at $358,068.
The Composite Index rose 1.98 points to close at 1,301.71, the All T&T Index increased 4.01 points to 1,956.18 and the Cross-Listed Index dipped 0.03 points to settle at 84.17.

Overall, 334,981 shares were traded for US$60,270 compared to 182,935 units at US$22,001 on Friday.
