Weekend gain for Main Market

Investors ended trading on Friday with an exchange of 66 percent less volume of stocks on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, even as the value traded jumped 260 percent over Thursday, after trading took place in 52 securities against 51 on Thursday, leading to 19 rising, 24 declining and nine ending unchanged.
The market closed with an exchange of 6,765,232 shares worth a total of $141,934,681 versus 19,677,897 units at $39,419,138 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 130,101 units at $2,729,513 versus 385,841 shares at $772,924 on Thursday and month to date, an average of 205,314 units at $1,515,534 versus 209,330 units at $1,450,722 on the previous day. October closed with an average of 231,243 units at $1,464,224.
Seprod led trading with 1.70 million shares for 25.1 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.34 million units for 19.7 percent of the day’s trade and Transjamaican Highway, with 1.24 million units for 18.4 percent of market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rallied 1,783.90 points to 381,652.90, the JSE Main Index climbed 1,999.87 points to 338,060.45 and the JSE Financial Index inched 0.56 points higher to 81.08.

Losses galore no gains for JSE USD Market

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended with the volume of stocks exchanged jumping 604 percent but with a 66 percent lower value than on Thursday, resulting in the trading of seven securities, compared to five on Thursday with no rising, six declining and one unchanged.
A total of 117,838 shares were traded for US$6,943 compared with 16,740 units at US$20,385 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 16,834 units at US$992, versus 3,348 shares at US$4,077 on Thursday, with a month to date average of 25,005 shares at US$3,329 versus 25,414 units at US$3,446 on the previous day. October ended with an average of 40,972 units for US$2,277.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index lost 5.38 points to end at 224.06.

Volume plunged on TTSE Friday

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange closed on Friday with a 96 percent plunge in the volume of stocks traded from Thursday’s level as the value dropped 95 percent, resulting in 16 securities trading compared with 20 on Thursday, with prices of four rising, five declining and seven remaining unchanged.
Investors traded just 59,653 shares for a mere $674,360 compared with 1,680,092 units at $14,416,020 on Thursday.
An average of 3,728 units were traded at $42,147 compared with 84,005 shares at $720,801 on Thursday, with trading month to date averaging 57,403 shares at $519,59  versus 60,038 units at $543,029 on the previous day. The average trade for October ended with 29,755 at $358,068.
The Composite Index increased 2.23 points to 1,309.18, the All T&T Index climbed 0.33 points to 1,967.95 and the Cross-Listed Index popped 0.60 points to close at 84.58.

The trading volume of stocks plunged 61 percent, with a 13 percent lower value than Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market on Thursday, resulting in five securities changing hands, compared to seven on Wednesday with two rising, two declining and one ending unchanged.
A total of 16,740 shares were traded for US$20,385 compared to 43,378 units at US$18,048 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 3,348 units at US$4,077 compared with 6,197 shares at US$2,578 on Wednesday, with a month to date average of 25,414 shares at US$3,446 versus 26,231 units at US$3,422 on the previous day. October ended with an average of 40,972 units for US$2,277.

Big recovery for Junior Market

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange clawed back a fair bit of the losses incurred since last week following the announcement of Regency Petroleum IPO, with the Index rallying 82.24 points to settle at 3,880.06 on Thursday, following a 64 percent fall in the volume of stocks traded, after a 29 percent decline in the value compared to Wednesday with 41 securities trading the same as on Wednesday and ended with 19 rising, 18 declining and four closing unchanged.
A total of 5,141,385 shares were traded for $17,482,988, down from 14,142,422 units at $24,762,456 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 125,400 shares at $426,414 compared with 344,949 units at $603,962 on Wednesday. Trading for the month to date, averages 275,458 stock units at $741,310 against 283,956 shares at $759,143 on the previous day. October closed with an average of 264,407 units at $832,036.
Dolla Financial led trading with 645,519 shares for 12.6 percent of total volume followed by Fosrich with 625,021 units for 12.2 percent of the day’s trade and Spur Tree Spices with 546,327 units for 10.6 percent market share. ISP Finance closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $14.98.

Rising stocks clobber those falling

Investors traded 51 securities compared to 53 on Wednesday, with rising stocks overwhelming those declining after prices of 30 rose, with nine declining and 12 ending unchanged as three times the volume of stocks were exchanged on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Thursday after the volume traded climbed 227 percent over Wednesday, with values declining 30 percent lower.
A total of 19,677,897 shares were exchanged for $39,419,138 versus 6,016,425 units at $56,503,512 on Wednesday.
Trading for the day averaged 385,841 units at $772,924 versus 113,517 shares at $1,066,104 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 209,330 stock units at $1,450,722 compared to 199,577 units at $1,488.174 on the previous day. October closed with an average of 231,243 units at $1,464,224.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 14.51 million shares for 73.7 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.35 million units for 6.9 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund with 1.12 million units for 5.7 percent market share.

Market activity climbed Thursday, with increased volume and value of stocks passing over the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, with 120 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded as the value rose twice that on Wednesday, resulting in 20 securities trading the same as Wednesday, with prices of three rising, six declining and 11 remaining unchanged.

An average of 84,005 units were traded for $720,801 compared with 38,192 shares at $361,031 on Wednesday, with trading month to date averaging 60,038 shares at $543,029 versus 58,471 units at $531,410 on the previous day. The average trade for October amounts to 29,755 at $358,068.

A day of decline for the JSE Main Market

For a second consecutive day, the volume of stocks traded on the Main Market on Wednesday declined, with a fall of12 percent as the value dropped 23 percent lower than on Tuesday, after the trading of 53 securities similar to Tuesday, with 19 rising, 24 declining and ten ending unchanged.
JMMB Group traded at a 52 weeks’ intraday low of $32 and QWI Investments closed at a 52 weeks’ low of 61 cents.
A total of 6,016,425 shares were traded for $56,503,512, down from 6,830,613 units at $73,463,083 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 113,517 units at $1,066,104 versus 128,879 shares at $1,386,096 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 199,577 units at $1,488,174 down from 204,819 units at $1,513,886 on the previous trading day. October closed with an average of 231,243 units at $1,464,224.

Medical Disposables and tTech ended at 52 weeks’ lows of $4.32 and $2.35, respectively.
A total of 14,131,729 shares were traded for $24,621,843 compared to 6,978,401 units at $22,507,207 on Tuesday.

Market activity picked up on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with a 60 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded as 21 percent more funds entered the market compared with trading on Tuesday and resulted in 20 securities trading up from 18 on Tuesday, with prices of seven rising, one declining and 12 remaining unchanged.
Investors exchanged 763,837 shares for $7,220,624, up from 478,325 shares for $5,985,979 on Tuesday.
An average of 38,192 shares were swapped for  $361,031 compared to 26,574 units at $332,554 on Tuesday, Trading month to date averages 58,471 shares at $531,410 versus 59,889 units at $543,325 on the previous day. The average trade for October amounts to 29,755 at $358,068.
The Composite Index gained 1.32 points to 1,303.03 the All T&T Index rallied 3.85 points to 1,960.03 and the Cross-Listed Index dipped 0.19 points to close at 83.98.
