Stocks mostly fall on Trinidad Exchange

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange declined on Tuesday, with trading in 18 securities compared with 14 on Monday and ending with prices of three stocks rising, 10 declining and five remaining unchanged after an 84 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded with a 3 percent lower value than on Monday with two stocks closing at 52 weeks’ lows.
The market ended with 181,482 shares being traded for $1,218,143 compared to 98,867 stock units at $1,256,409 on Monday.
An average of 10,082 shares were traded at $67,675 compared to 7,062 units at $89,743 on Monday. Trading month to date, averages 13,513 shares at $172,383 down from 14,774 units at $210,849 on the previous day and an average for January of 15,998 shares at $167,627.
The Composite Index skidded 5.11 points to close at 1,163.51, the All T&T Index declined 11.82 points to 1,744.49, the SME Index remained unchanged at 78.23 and the Cross-Listed Index rose 0.29 points to conclude trading at 75.84.

At the close, Angostura Holdings remained at $18.75 after 100 units passed through the market, Ansa McAl dipped 43 cents to $51.62, with 4,114 stocks changing hands, Calypso Macro Investment Fund lost 25 cents to close at $23.25 with investors trading 14 shares. First Citizens Group shed 75 cents in closing at $49.25, with 3,000 stocks clearing the market, FirstCaribbean International Bank ended at $7.05 with an exchange of 122 shares, GraceKennedy dipped 17 cents to $3.85 in an exchange of 2,245 stock units. Guardian Holdings sank 25 cents and ended at $17.75 after trading 180 units, JMMB Group popped 13 cents to close at $1.45 after exchanging 115,422 stocks, L.J. Williams B share remained at $2.20 with a transfer of 20 shares. Massy Holdings rallied 7 cents to end at $4.37, with 1,038 stocks crossing the exchange, National Enterprises ended at $3.75 after a transfer of 31,910 units, Prestige Holdings skidded 69 cents to $10 in switching ownership of 518 stock units. Republic Financial rose $1.59 and ended at $121.95 and closed after 2,613 shares were traded, Scotiabank fell $1.09 to end at $65.91 with an exchange of 950 stock units, Trinidad & Tobago NGL declined 45 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $9, with 14,294 stocks crossing the market. Trinidad Cement shed 13 cents to $2.87 in trading 400 units, Unilever Caribbean ended at $11.80 after 1,042 shares passed through the market and West Indian Tobacco lost 4 cents in closing at a 52 weeks’ low of $8.71 as investors exchanged 3,500 units.

Bullish day for Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange got a big shot in the arm on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded surging 344 percent higher than Thursday, with the value jumping 485 percent more, resulting from trading in 19 securities compared with 22 on Thursday, with 12 stocks rising, one declining and six remaining unchanged with the market indices flying higher at the close.
Investors exchanged a total of 1,423,065 shares for $13,187,235, up sharply from 320,823 stock units at $2,253,057 on Thursday.
An average of 74,898 units were traded at $694,065 compared to a mere 14,583 shares at just $102,412 on Thursday, with trading month to date averaging 15,884 shares at $155,773 compared with 12,644 units at $126,211 on the previous day. The average trade for September amounts to 21,948 shares at $198,506.
The Composite Index climbed 15.69 points to end at 1,201.86, the All T&T Index surged 28.53 points up to 1,834.79, the SME Index remained unchanged at 79.99 and the Cross-Listed Index climbed 0.27 points to conclude trading at 73.43.

At the close, Ansa McAl popped $2.95 to close at $57, with a mere 11 stock units crossing the market, Ansa Merchant Bank ended at $42.12, with investors trading just two shares, Calypso Macro Investment Fund ended at $22.50 after 400 stock units passed through the market,  Endeavour Holdings remained at $15 in an exchange of 60 stocks. First Citizens Group rallied 55 cents and ended at $50, with 4,572 stocks being traded, GraceKennedy rose 9 cents to end at $3.39 with investors dealing in 251 units. Guardian Holdings advanced $1.35 in closing at $20 in an exchange of 100 stocks, Massy Holdings increased 13 cents to $4.68 and closed after an exchange of 1,351,960 units, National Enterprises popped 1 cent and ended at $3.51 with stakeholders trading 3,648 shares, National Flour Mills remained at $1.63 with a transfer of 200 stock units. NCB Financial ended at $2.84, with 30 shares crossing the market, One Caribbean Media gained 43 cents to close at $3.93 with investors transferring 1,000 units, Prestige Holdings popped 26 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $11, with 1,560 stocks changing hands, Republic Financial advanced 27 cents in closing at $118.28 after a transfer of 52,557 stock units. Scotiabank rose 75 cents and ended at $72.75 as investors exchanged 3,549 shares, Trinidad & Tobago NGL rose 5 cents to end at $11 in trading 1,180 stocks, Trinidad Cement increased 5 cents to close at $2.95 after exchanging 25 units. Unilever Caribbean lost 5 cents to close at $11.49 with shareholders swapping 30 stock units and  West Indian Tobacco remained at $10 while exchanging 1,930 shares.

Stocks gained in Trinidad

Rising stocks overpowered those declining at the close of market activity on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, as 49 percent fewer shares were exchanged after 58 percent less funds passed through the market compared to Monday and resulting in 18 securities trading down from 21 on Monday and resulted in six stocks rising, two declining and ten remaining unchanged.
Investors exchanged 478,325 shares for $5,985,979, down from 932,857 stocks at $14,247,158 on Monday.
An average of 26,574 shares were traded at $332,554 compared to 44,422 units at $678,436 on Monday. Trading month to date averaged 59,889 shares at $543,325 versus 62,127 units at $557,481 on the previous day. Trading in October ended with an average of 29,755 shares at $358,068.
The Composite Index rose 1.98 points to close at 1,301.71, the All T&T Index increased 4.01  points to 1,956.18 and the Cross-Listed Index dipped 0.03 points to settle at 84.17.

National Flour Mills remained at $1.51, with 8,800 units crossing the market, NCB Financial ended at $4.56 as investors exchanged 49,490 stock units, Point Lisas ended at $3.19 with a transfer of 3,000 shares. Republic Financial remained at $136 in an exchange of 163 shares, Scotiabank rose 10 cents to close at $77.90 as 12,733 stocks were swapped by investors, Trinidad & Tobago NGL gained 40 cents to close at $22.40 with 49,318 units clearing the market. Trinidad Cement ended at $3.60 after exchanging 1,900 stock units, Unilever Caribbean climbed 77 cents in ending at $13.79 and trading 2,150 stocks and West Indian Tobacco remained at $22, with 330 shares crossing the market.

The Composite Index declined 1.85 points to 1,376.63, the All T&T Index declined 3.17 points to end at 2,036.35 and the Cross-Listed Index slipped 0.06 points to 93.89.
A total of 356,338 shares were exchanged for $3,485,909 in contrast to versus 323,490 units at $1,480,256 on Monday. An average of 22,271 units traded at $217,869 compared to 20,218 shares at $92,516 on Monday, with trading month to date averaging 45,353 units at $251,840 versus 49,969 units at $258,634 on the previous trading day. The average trade for July amounts to 28,304 units at $283,023.
