Rising T&T stocks clobber others

Massy Holdings jumped $7.75 to a 52 weeks’ high of $74.75, as market activity ended on Tuesday after 71 percent fewer shares valued 56 percent less than on Monday traded, resulting in rising stocks dominating declining ones at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
At the close, 16 traded compared to 15 on Monday, with nine stocks rising, one declining and six closing unchanged. The Composite Index climbed 9.11 points to 1,367.59, the All T&T Index rose 8.76 points to end at 1,847.63 and the Cross-Listed Index gained 1.33 points to settle at 119.67.
A total of, 560,040 shares were exchanged for $9,978,704, down sharply from 1,938,335 units at $22,585,268 on Monday.
An average of 35,003 units were traded at $623,669 down from 129,222 at $1,505,685 on Monday. The average trade month to date amounts to 25,666 units at $396,966 versus 25,061 units at $382,281. The average trade for April amounted to 11,472 units at $184,959.

At the close, Angostura Holdings traded 1,450 shares at $15, Ansa McAL remained at $56.73 in exchanging 906 units, Clico Investment Fund gained 20 cents to close at $25.50 after transferring 98,554 stocks. First Citizens Bank advanced $1.70 to $48.50 with 35,283 shares crossing the market. Grace Kennedy rose 40 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.25 in trading 94,028 units, Guardian Holdings picked up 15 cents to close at $32.50 trading 27,000 stocks, JMMB Group remained at $1.81 in switching ownership of 60 shares. Massy Holdings jumped $7.75 to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $74.75 after 2,250 units crossed the exchange, National Flour Mills closed at $2.30 in trading 84,166 shares, NCB Financial Group traded 100,000 stocks at $8.50. Point Lisas gained 5 cents to settle at $3 in exchanging 1,248 stocks, Prestige Holdings lost 1 cent to end at $6.99 trading 222 units, Republic Financial Holdings closed at $135 in transferring 416 shares. Scotiabank advanced $1.10 to $56 after exchanging 31,802 units, Trinidad & Tobago NGL rose 46 cents to $16.95 in trading 81,953 shares and Unilever Caribbean added 1 cent in closing at $16.33 with the swapping of 702 shares.

Sharp jump in trading on TTSE

The volume and value of stocks traded rose sharply on Monday, after exchanging 480 percent more shares valued 240 percent greater than on Friday and resulting in slightly more stocks falling than rising at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
A total of 1,938,335 shares traded for $22,585,268 versus 334,379 units at $6,637,409 on Friday.
An average of 129,222 units traded at $1,505,685 compared to 20,899 at $414,838 on Friday. The average for the month to date amounts to 25,061 units at $382,261 versus 18,327 units at $309,647. The average trade for April amounted to 11,472 units at $184,959.
Fifteen securities traded against 16 on Friday, with two rising, five declining and eight closng unchanged. The Composite Index rose 2.50 points to 1,358.48, the All T&T Index lost 2.59 points to close at 1,838.87 and The Cross-Listed Index increased 1.11 points to settle at 118.34.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with the bid higher than the last selling price and three with lower offers.
At the close, Agostini’s closed at $24.40 in exchanging 17,200 shares, Ansa Mcal ended at $56.73, with 16,544 shares changing hands, Clico Investment Fund shed 20 cents in ending at $25.30 with the swapping of 821 stock units. First Citizens Bank added 1 cent in closing at $46.80 trading 31,948 stock units. Guardian Holdings dropped 15 cents to close at $32.35 in exchanging 33,176 units, JMMB Group ended at $1.81 trading 284 units, Massy Holdings closed at $67, with 4,871 stocks crossing the market. National Enterprises dipped 4 cents to $2.96, with 2,043 units switching owners, NCB Financial Group climbed 20 cents to $8.50, with 1,754,266 shares crossing the market, One Caribbean Media shed 39 cents to close at $4.50 while exchanging 399 shares. Republic Financial Holdings settled at $135 in an exchange of 1,062 shares, Scotiabank closed at $54.90 trading 51,984 stock units, Trinidad & Tobago NGL ended at $16.49 after 20,607 shares changed hands. Unilever Caribbean slipped 1 cent to $16.32 trading 83 stock units and West Indian Tobacco settled at $32.49 with an exchange of 3,047 shares.

Guardian Holdings in ICTOP10

Guardian Holdings moved into the IC TOP 10 following the release of a prospectus from NCB Global that is offering 2 million shares to the public at $790 each, with the stock price falling immediately, after by more than $110, to be in line with the public offer price, valuing the company’s shares at 8 times 2021 projected earnings.

Elsewhere, with the passage of earnings season, the markets have lost most of their recent firepower to drive prices forward at a time when the Junior Market is trading at the very top of its upward sloping channel while the JSE Main Market is a few thousand points away and in facing much turbulence in attempting to break through the peak.
At the start of the past week, the Junior Market pulled back from last Friday’s close, to sit just above the 3,300 level but climbed on each succeeding day of the week, but pulled back slightly on Friday to close at 3,324 points just a few points higher than at the end of the previous week. At the same time, the JSE Main Market made attempts to come close to the 460,000 mark of the All Jamaica Composite Index but was rebuffed on each occasion and ended the week at 454,479.33, up from 451,713.66 at the close of the previous week.
The Junior Market has to decidedly break through the upper limit of the trading channel, to free it to move on to the next area of resistance, just over 4,000 mark, but the Main Market has room to run for a few thousand points before it hits the channel top at 460,000 points.
There is a shakeup of the top three stocks in the Junior Market, this week. Elite Diagnostic heads the list, followed by Caribbean Assurance Brokers and Caribbean Producers, with potential to gain between 247 to 300 percent. The top three Main Market stocks are Radio Jamaica in the number one spot, followed by Wisynco and PanJam Investments, with expected gains of 151 to 344 percent.
The targeted PE ratio for the market averages 20 based on profits of companies reporting full year’s results, up to the second quarter of 2022. Fiscal 2020-21 ended March 2021 with the average PE at 17 for Junior Stocks and 19 times for the Main Market. With interest rates on government paper below 5 percent and likely to remain there for a few years, the likelihood is for the average PE ratios to climb higher during the next twelve months or so.
The Junior Market with an average PE 12.5 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings, is currently trading well below the target, as well as the recent historical average of 17, this represents another 36 percent rise in the market that would equate to a rise of 60 percent to March 2022. The Junior Market Top 10 stocks average a mere 6.2 at just 50 percent of the market average, indicating substantial gains ahead. The JSE Main Market ended the week with an overall PE of 16.5, some distance from the 19 the market ended March, suggesting a 15 percent rise from now to March 2022. The Main Market TOP 10 trades at a PE of 7.9 or 48 percent of the PE of that market and well off the potential of 20.
The average projected gain for the Junior Market IC TOP 10 stocks is 225 percent and 162 percent for the JSE Main Market, based on 2021-22 earnings. IC TOP10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns up to March 2022 and ranked in order of potential gains, based on likely increase for each company, taking into account the earnings and PE ratios for the current fiscal year. Expected values will change as stock prices fluctuate and result in movements in and out of the lists weekly. Revisions to earnings per share are ongoing, based on receipt of new information.

Trading closed on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 57 percent and the value down 52 percent from Thursday levels, leading the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange to decline for the day but ending marginally higher for the week.
Trading led to 41 securities changing hands compared to 39 on Thursday, with prices of 17 rising, 13 declining and 11 remaining unchanged.
The Junior Market Index declined 17.06 points to close at 3,324.08 and the average PE Ratio based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 is 12.5.
At the close, 8,800,514 shares traded for $18,269,545 versus 20,537,724 units at $37,783,073 on Thursday.
Future Energy Source contributed 52.5 percent of total volume traded, with 4.62 million shares, Jetcon Corporation followed, with 7.6 percent trading 669,133 units and Lumber Depot accounted for 7 percent with 614,786 stocks.
Trading averaged 214,647 units at $445,599 down from 526,608 at $968,797 on Thursday. Trading month to date averages 347,033 units at $833,012, compared to 357,313 units at $863,100 on Thursday. April closed with an average of 329,24 units at $854,716.

Elite Diagnostic fell 20 cents to $3 in switching ownership of 223,848 units, Fontana advanced 6 cents to $6.06 while exchanging 102,677 stocks. Falling stocks hit JSE USD market

Trading on Friday ended with the market declining after trading 125 percent more shares than on Thursday, on the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, resulting in declining stocks clobbering those rising.
Six securities changed hands, compared to four on Thursday with one stock rising, four declining and one closing unchanged.
The JSE USD Equity Index lost 3.63 points to end at 208.05. The average PE Ratio ends at 13.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
Overall, 483,586 shares traded, for US$38,961 compared to 214,841 units at US$54,388 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 80,598 units at US$6,494, in contrast to 53,710 shares at US$13,597 on Thursday. Trading for the month to date averages 103,810 units at US$12,476 in contrast to 105,595 units at US$12,936 on Thursday. April ended with an average of 80,293 units for US$6,320.

Main Market loses ground to close out week

Demand for stocks declined on Friday in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, with the volume of stocks trading falling 48 percent and the value of stocks exchanged dropping 82 percent lower than Thursday’s market activity leading to a slight dip in the main market indices with the advancing stocks just edging out those declining.
The All Jamaican Composite Index shed 202.86 points to 454,479.33, the Main Index fell 257.00 points to 424,303.18 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.04 points to close 105.33.
Trading ended with 48 securities compared to 50 on Thursday, with 19 stocks rising, 18 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 13,537,949 shares trading for $85,630,782 down sharply from 26,264,484 units at $470,763,094 on Thursday. Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 38.9 percent of total volume for an exchange of 5.26 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 20.2 percent after 2.74 million units were traded and Pulse Investments with 7.3 percent for 988,208 shares changing hands.
Trading closed with an average of 282,041 units at $1,783,975, compared to 525,290 shares at $9,415,262 on Thursday. Trading month to date averages 320,145 units at $3,595,710, in contrast to 322,750 units at $3,719,589 on Thursday. Trading in April averaged 234,200 units at $1,772,561.

Eppley Caribbean Property Fund advanced $4.18 to close at $44.98 with the swapping of 1,700 units, Jamaica Broilers fell 80 cents to $34.70 in a transfer of 129,900 shares. Jamaica Producers lost 50 cents to close at $23, with 200,170 stocks crossing the market, Margaritaville lost 40 cents in closing at $14.60 trading 26,126 stock units, Mayberry Investments gained 20 cents to end at $5.50, with 196,336 shares changing hands. MPC Caribbean Clean Energy rose $2 to $102 in trading 5 stocks, NCB Financial Group shed 50 cents to end at $138.50 in a transfer of 46,041 units, 138 Student Living shed 49 cents to settle at $4.90 with 3,975 stock units changing hands, Pan Jam Investment climbed $5.55 to $71.60 after exchanging 86 stocks. Proven Investments fell 90 cents to $37 with the swapping of 61,769 units, Sagicor Group lost 30 cents to close at $52.70 in switching ownership of 21,793 stocks, Scotia Group gained 80 cents to end at $40.80 in exchanging 5,309 units. Seprod shed $1.50 to close at $73.50 with an exchange of 44,685 stock units, Supreme Ventures rose $1.55 to close at $21.75 in trading 98,472 stocks and Sygnus Credit Investments gained 40 cents to finish at $15.61 after exchanging 313,497 stocks.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.75% preference share fell 99 cents to close at $6.51 with a transfer of 347 shares.

Trading dips on TTSEMarket activity declined on Friday, relative to Friday’s trading, with investors exchanging 38.45 percent fewer shares with a lower value than on Thursday, resulting in more stocks rising than declining at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
A total of 16 securities traded compared to 20 on Thursday, with prices of five stocks rising, three declining and eight remaining unchanged. The Composite Index fell 4.34 points to 1,355.98, The All T&T Index rose 6.90 points to 1,841.46 and the Cross-Listed Index lost 2.29 points to sit at 117.23.
At the close, 334,379 shares traded, for $6,637,409, down from 543,273 units at $7,979,074 on Thursday.

Fesco dominates Junior Market

Future Energy Source (Fesco) dominated trading on the Junior Market on Thursday, with 73 percent of the market share with 15.02 million units exchanged after the company posted full year results that were slightly lower than the forecast of $151 million that was contained in the prospectus with the year to March ended at $141 million. Lasco Manufacturing was next, with 9.5 percent of total volume after trading 1.95 million units, while Lumber Depot accounted for 4.1 percent of total volume with an exchange of market 847,830 units.
Trading closed on Thursday with investors transferring 43 percent more shares at 39 percent greater value than Wednesday as rising stocks outnumbered falling ones, with 39 securities changing hands compared to 36 on Wednesday. At the close, 18 stocks rose, 14 declined and seven remaining unchanged as the Junior Market Index gained 10.13 points to close at 3,341.14.
The PE Ratio based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings averages 12.6.
A total of 20,537,724 shares traded for $37,783,073, up from 14,356,074 units at $27,238,932 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 526,608 units at $968,797 in contrast to 398,780 at $756,637 on Wednesday. Trading month to date, averages 357,313 units at $863,100, up from 343,811 units at $854,671 on Wednesday. April closed with an average of 329,241 units at $854,716.

Caribbean Assurance Brokers gained 10 cents to close at $2 with 8,350 shares traded, Caribbean Flavours slipped 7 cents to $2.10 with 101,082 stock units passing through the market, Caribbean Producers rose 7 cents to $3.65 with a transfer of 32,330 stocks. Fosrich shed 11 cents to end at $8.39 with 11,506 shares changing hands, Honey Bun climbed 49 cents to $6.99 with 12,973 units traded, Indies Pharma slipped 10 cents to $3.80 with 70,112 stock units passing through the market. Iron Rock Insurance advanced 55 cents to $4 with a transfer of 113,148 shares, Jetcon Corporation 25 cents to $1.10 with 420,889 units changing hands, KLE Group dropped 8 cents to $1.02 with 1,000 stocks traded. Knutsford Express jumped 44 cents to $8.44 with 763 shares passing through the market, Lasco Distributors rose 15 cents to $4.15 with a transfer of 6,800 stock units, Lasco Financial fell 42 cents to $3.40 with an exchange of 72,598 units. Lasco Manufacturing increased by 5 cents to close at $5.40 with 1,948,675 stocks changing hands, Limners and Bards fell 10 cents to $3.30 with 213,795 shares traded, Main Event advanced 19 cents to $4.69 with 35,831 units passing through the market. Paramount Trading fell 12 cents to $1.30 with investors switching ownership of 3,000 stocks, Stationery and Office Supplies dropped 22 cents to $8.28 with a transfer of 36,669 stock units and tTech jumped $1 to $6 with 6,211 shares crossing the exchange.

JSE Main market bounces back

Market activity ended on Thursday, with the market recovering almost all of the losses of the previous two days after advancing stocks edged out declining ones, with the overall traded volume and value climbing 211 percent and 357 percent respectively compared to Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 3,237.08 points to 454,682.19, the Main Index advanced 2,716.72 points to 424,560.18, and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.97 points to settle at 105.37.
Trading ended with 50 securities compared to 47 on Wednesday, with 18 stocks rising, 16 declining and 16 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 forecast of earnings, is 16.1.

At the close 26,264,484 shares traded for $470,763,094 versus 8,440,224 units at $102,931,227 on Wednesday. JMMB Group 7.25% led trading with 33.9 percent of total volume for 8.91 million shares followed by Sagicor Group with 27.6 percent in trading 7.25 million units, Sagicor Select Financial Fund 13.6 percent, with 3.58 million units, Pulse Investments with 5.2 percent for 1.37 million units and Transjamaican Highway with 3.9 percent for an exchange of 1.04 million shares.
Trading averaged 505,086 units at $9,053,136, compared to 179,579 shares at $2,190,026 on Wednesday. Trading month to date averages 321,833 units at $3,709,022, compared to 307,218 units at $3,282,804 on Wednesday. April averaged 234,200 units at $1,772,561.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading has nine stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
At the close, Barita Investments advanced $1.98 to $85.98 with 70 shares changing hands, Berger Paints rose $1.35 to end at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $18 with 14,433 stocks crossing the market, Carreras gained 90 cents to close at end at 52 weeks’ closing high of $10.90 in switching ownership of 519,508 shares, Grace Kennedy ended 99 cents higher at $88 in exchanging 14,115 units, Jamaica Broilers gained 50 cents to close at $35.50 in trading 21,359 stocks. Jamaica Stock Exchange lost 20 cents to settle at $17.80 in switching ownership of 6,010 units, JMMB Group declined $1 to $32 with a transfer of 76,488 stock units, Key Insurance gained 34 cents to end at $5.35 in trading 295,925 stocks. Kingston Wharves fell $1 in closing at $46 with the swapping of 11,543 shares, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy dropped $24 to end at 52 weeks’ closing low of $100 after exchanging 21 stock units, NCB Financial Group shed $2 to finish at $139 while exchanging 78,790 shares. 138 Student Living rose 85 cents to close at $5.39 in switching ownership of 13,853 stock units, Palace Amusement dropped $29 to end at $926 in swapping 111 stocks, PanJam Investment declined $5.85 to finish at $66.05 with 26,162 shares clearing the market, Proven Investments closed 75 cents higher at $37.90, with 5,272 units crossing the market, Sagicor Group climbed $2 to end at $53 trading 7,248,980 shares, Seprod slipped 90 cents to $75 after exchanging 41,954 units. Stanley Motta lost 34 cents in ending at $5.90 in switching ownership of 6,907 stock units, Supreme Ventures gained 20 cents to end at 52 weeks’ closing high of $20.20 in trading 193,925 shares and Wisynco Group ended 45 cents lower at $15.45 in switching ownership of 153,549 stock units.

Volume jumps on USD market

The volume of stocks changing hands on Thursday climbed 84 percent higher than on Wednesday, with 481 percent greater value at the close of trading on the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
The JSE USD Equity Index gained 3.01 points to end at 211.68. The average PE Ratio ended at 13.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
Only four securities traded, down from seven on Wednesday, with prices of two stocks rising and two declining, leading to 214,841 shares trading for US$54,388 from 116,571 units at US$9,359 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 53,710 units at US$13,597, in contrast to 16,653 shares at US$1,337 on Wednesday. Trading month to date averages 105,595 units at US$12,936 in contrast to 108,400 units at US$12,900 on Wednesday. April ended with an average of 80,293 units for US$6,320.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows no stock ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and none closed with lower offers.
At the close, First Rock Capital fell 0.04 of a cent to 8.96 US cents with 3,565 shares traded, Proven Investments advanced 0.9 of a cent to finish at 26.9 US cents with 202,255 stock units changing hands, Sygnus Credit Investments fell 0.02 of a cent to settle at 15.93 US cents with a transfer of 9,001 units and Transjamaican Highway rose 0.07 of a cent to close at 0.93 US cents with 20 shares crossing the exchange.
