The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange shed about 35 points, on Monday, with the volume of stocks traded falling 47 percent, with 70 percent less value than Friday following trading in 42 securities, up from 38 on Friday and ending with prices of just 11 rising, 18 declining and 13 closing unchanged with Fontana traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $9.98, ISP Finance and Atlantic Hardware closing at 52 week’s low of $13 and MFS Partners and Omni Industries trading at 52 weeks’ intraday lows.
The market closed with trading of 5,814,492 shares for $14,058,219, well below the 10,948,839 units at $47,033,318 on Friday.
Trading averaged 138,440 shares at $334,720, down from 288,127 stocks worth $1,237,719 on Friday with the month to date, averaging 288,781 units at $1,033,226 lower than the 327,758 stock units at $1,214,320 on the previous day and March with an average of 307,021 shares at $759,432.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 1.39 million shares for 24 percent of the total volume, followed by recently listed Atlantic Hardware with 595,761 stock units for 10.2 percent of the day’s trade and Kintyre Holdings with 394,166 stocks for 6.8 percent of the total volume traded.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index dipped 34.58 points to cease trading at 3,522.92. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows eight stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 14.1, based on last traded prices in conjunction with earnings projected by ICInsider.com for financial years ending around August 2025.
At the close of the market, AMG Packaging declined 15 cents to $2.90 in an exchange of 11,184 shares, Atlantic Hardware sank 5 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of 90 cents with 595,761 units passing through the market, Caribbean Assurance Brokers fell 38 cents in closing at $2.51 with investors trading 4,335 shares. Caribbean Flavours popped 10 cents to close at $1.29 with an exchange of 18,803 stocks, Dolla Financial shed 7 cents to finish at $2.58 with investors trading 291,882 stock units, Elite Diagnostic dropped 14 cents and ended at $1.46 after an exchange of 21,331 shares. Fontana advanced 47 cents to a 52 weeks’ high of $9.97 with 374,178 stocks crossing the market, Indies Pharma rose 31 cents to finish at $3.86 as investors exchanged 389,680 units, ISP Finance sank $2 and ended at a 52 weeks’ low of $13 after trading 611 stock units. Jamaican Teas slipped 11 cents to close at $2.35 with 1,393,319 shares crossing the exchange, JFP Ltd climbed 7 cents in closing at 68 cents with investors dealing in 204 stocks, Knutsford Express increased 65 cents to end at $14.05 with a transfer of 1,162 units. Lasco Financial lost 6 cents in closing at $1.64 with investors swapping 9,112 stock units, Limners and Bards dipped 9 cents to $1.09 and closed with an exchange of 14,640 shares, Mailpac Group skidded 5 cents to end at $2.31 in trading 159,740 stocks. MFS Capital Partners sank 6 cents and ended at 36 cents with 102,336 units clearing the market, after the price dropped to an intraday 52 weeks’ low of 34 cents, Regency Petroleum shed 5 cents to finish at $3.50 after a transfer of 13,747 stock units and Stationery and Office Supplies rallied 5 cents to close at $1.46 with 216,440 shares changing hands.
