Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with 4.49 million shares changing hands with a value of $28,237,865, in the main market on Friday.
The market indices closed out the week on a negative note, but the advanced decline ratio, was highly positive. The JSE Market Index lost 224.48 points to 82,339.30, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 250.98 points to close at 90,777.46 and the JSE combined index declined by 241.19 points to close at 84,012.30.
Desnoes & Geddes with 1 million shares and Jamaica Money Market Brokers with 2.5 million shares were the leading trades. The main price gains were recorded by Carreras up by 49 cents to $38.50, National Commercial Bank 14 cents to $24.85 and Seprod 75 cents to $13. Declining price changes were moderate.

JSE main market up 7% year ago
CW&J stock gained the most in 2014 on JSE, up by 213% so far.
In contrast to the main market junior market stocks have not fared as well and closed on December 19 last year at 768.16, this year the index is at 679.54 points down by 11.5 percent.The two indices closed out 2013 at 81,850.04 and 757.86 so far the main market stocks collectively are up just 2 percent while the juniors are down 10.3 percent. The main market gains will be higher, at the end of the year, if history is anything to go by, and the junior market losses will be pared, as the recovery in demand for stocks seen since November continues for the rest of December.
There were 7 stocks that contributed to the rise in the all Jamaica main market index, the leading ones being Cable & Wireless with 213 percent increase, Kingston Properties up 67 percent, Hardware & Lumber 31 percent, Seprod 30 percent Pan Jam 13 percent and Grace 11 percent.

The year-end rally, continued on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, as Kingston Properties hits a new high having gained 87.5 percent for the December. Trading in the overall market resulted in the prices of 10 stocks rising and only 3 declining as 25 securities changed hands, ending in 3,028,876 units trading, valued at $10,239,236, in all market segments.
