The Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed with main market indices dropping, with declining stocks far exceeding advancing ones. The market closed with a fairly high participation rate of 38 securities changing hands, resulting in 33,498,729 units trading, valued at $379,007,378 with only 6 stocks rising, 19 declining, in all market segments. The big jump in the level of trading took place with a switch in ownership to VMBS Wealth of the pension fund portfolio in stocks.
At the close, the JSE Market Index fell 262.83 points to 98,086.58. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index lost 293.77 points to close at 108,573.44 and the JSE combined index dropped 272.27 points to end at 100,777.77.

Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 2,105,142 shares at $7.89, JMMB Group traded 8,582,455 shares, including shares associated with the VMBS Wealth pension fund change, to close at $7.52, Kingston Properties had 664,191 shares trading for a fall of $1.01 to end at $6.99, National Commercial Bank traded 569,187 shares to end with a decline of 73 cents at $28.02. Scotia Group traded 198,010 units to close with a loss of 60 cents at $23.76, Scotia Investments traded 440,000 shares to close at $27.69 for a fall of 1 cent, Supreme Ventures ended at $3.40 with 13,828 units to be down by 40 cents and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded 100,000 units to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $2.94, for a loss of 4 cents.

The Jamaica stock market closed on Friday with strong movement in the indices to hit the highest levels since March 14, 2008 on the all Jamaica Composite index, for the JSE index it’s the highest since September 19, 2008. The market closed with 9 stocks rising, 9 declining as 29 securities changed hands with 5,441,593 units trading, valued at $44,801,033, in all market segments. 4 stocks closed at new 52 weeks’ high. Scotia Group was the main stock contributing to much of the rise.
At the close, the JSE Market Index jumped 1,849.21 points to 100,992.53, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index climbed 2,066.95 points to close at 111,821.48 and the JSE combined index rose 1,994.84 points to end at 104,636.95.

In the first hour and a half of trading Tuesday, on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, the all Jamaican Composite Index was once more over the 110,000 market. It gained 322.01 points to 110,048.85 and the JSE Index was at 99,578.98, with a gain of 288.02 points.
By the end of trading, the market gave up all the gains and much more as the market continues to struggle to move away from the resistance level which it crossed over recently. The JSE Market Index lost 939.55 points to 98,348.41, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 1,050.45 points to 108,676.39 and the JSE combined index dropped 1,010.08 points to close at 100,729.99.
Activity, resulted in the prices of 10 stocks rising, 12 declining as 35 securities changed hands, ending in 9,192,775 units trading, valued at $92,864,773, in all market segments. Only three new highs were recorded in the overall market, with Jamaica Broilers ended at $5.49 and Jamaica Stock Exchange at $3.55 as new 52 weeks closing highs in the main market.

Cable & Wireless had 306,000 shares trading at 47 cents, Caribbean Cement traded 292,100 units to close at $5, Carreras traded 211,982 shares to close at $49, Gleaner posted 322,432 units to end at $1, Grace Kennedy gained 5 cents to close at $63.55 with 45,627 units, the stock traded at $65 during the trading session. Jamaica Stock Exchange put through 83,000 units and ended at $3.55, JMMB Group lost 51 cents in trading 219,760 shares at $9.49, at the close. National Commercial Bank had 113,179 units trading between $29.50 and $30.20, the closing price, as 20 cents was added. JSE fn Qts 19-5-15 Sagicor Group traded down to $11 during the day but ended up with a decline of 1 cent at $11.99, at the end with 5,150,556 shares, changing hands. Mayberry sold more than 3.5 million units mostly at $11 from their inventory and Sagicor Investments was another major buying and selling broker of the stock. Scotia Group put on 70 cents to $26 with 8,794 units trading, Seprod had 136,611 units changing hands at $18.50, and Supreme Ventures traded 116,465 shares between $3.89 and $3.95 but ended at $3.90 and Proven Investments slipped by half of a cent in trading 61,517 units at 20.5 US cents.

There were only three stocks declining on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, while 18 stocks rose, compared with the last traded prices on Thursday, but the main market indices dropped more than 500 points as Scotia Group fell back to $25.16. The market closed with 19 stocks rising, 8 of which closed at 52 weeks’ high, 3 declining as 28 securities changed hands, well down from the 41 that traded on Thursday. In the end a total of 5,475,513 units valued at $56,463,857 traded, in all market segments.
The rally started last year fuelled by falling money market rates with Treasury bill rate falling from over 9 percent to below 7 percent. The current rally is be fuelled by rising profits from the majority of companies reporting first quarter results.
The JSE Market Index lost 507.33 points to 98,992.10, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 567.23 points to close at 109,396.05 and the JSE combined index declined 237.32 points to close at 101,419.02.

Jamaica Broilers had dealing in 48,730 units traded at $5.16 to remain unchanged at the end. Jamaica Stock Exchange contributed 244,616 shares, the price jumped 60 cents or 21 percent in response to the company’s huge jump in their first quarter results showing profit of $87 million or 62 cents and ended at $3.50. Trading was halted for an hour after the price exceeded 15 percent. JMMB Group ended with 27,855 shares changing hands to close up by 10 cents at $9.60, Mayberry Investments closed with 12,289 shares trading at $3,after adding 12 cents, National Commercial Bank finished trading with 468,084 units unchanged at $30.50. Pan Jamaican Investment ended trading with 14,769 units 12 cents higher, at $58.25, Sagicor Group closed with 191,168 shares trading 15 cents lower at $12. Scotia Group finished trading with 88,383 shares changing hands to close 84 cents lower at $25.16, Seprod saw trading in 335,400 shares ending 25 cents up at $18.50 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share ended with 68,650 units trading with a 5 cents rise to $2.15.
