The Jamaica stock market is off to a spirited start on Wednesday which saw Sagicor Investments crossing 227.5 million Dolphin Cove shares and buying another 2.1 million from other brokers. The main market indices are down and the junior of index is up with a number of new 52 weeks’ high being achieved.
Notable trades are, Caribbean Cream with 10,000 units at a new high of $5 after adding 40 cents, Dolphin Cove with 229,610,218 units at a new high of $16.03 with a rise of $2.33, Cable & Wireless with 690,670 units changing hands up to $2, but last traded at $1.91, Jamaica Broilers with 914,200 shares changing hands at $8.76. Jamaica Producers traded 1,156,535 units at $22.51, down by $1.50, Sagicor Group has seen 508,350 shares changing hands at $16.58, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund had 1,043,832 units at $9.81 and Seprod with 304,359 shares rising $1.85 to $17.80.
The number of securities trading climbed sharply to 28 securities changing hands with a volume of 234,954,186 units as 14 stocks gained and 7 declined after 75 minutes of trading.
The All Jamaican Composite index fell 135.44 points to 154,934.62, the JSE Market Index declined 121.19 points to 139,570.88 the JSE combined index rose 254.07 points to be at 146,679.37 and the junior market index climbed 41.27 points to 1,669.02.

Declines| ANSA McAL contributed 760 shares in trading, to close at $67.01, after falling 2 cents, Clico Investment Fund fell 1 cent with 53,440 shares changing hands valued at $1,204,279 and closed at $22.53 and Trinidad and Tobago NGL closed with a 1 cent decline to $21.49 with 35,227 shares changing hands for a value of $757,036.

JSE starts November positively
A total of 37 securities traded leading to 6,392,200 units valued at $48,320,406 hanging hands, in all market segments. A total of 21 securities rose and 10 declined with 6 stocks ended at 52 weeks’ closing highs and 2 at an intraday 52 weeks’ high.
The JSE Market Index shot up 905.92 points to 132,189.96, the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 1,012.42 points to end at 146,686.03. JSE combined index and climbed 1,059.06, points to end at 136,842.10. All Three indices are at new closing highs.

In trading, Barita Investments ended at a 52 weeks’ closing high, of $2.90 as the price gained 15 cents while 50,000 shares were traded, the stock closed with the bid at $3 to buy 60,000 shares, no stocks were offered at the close. Cable and Wireless continued under selling pressure and closed with a loss of 36 cents, with 1,456,839 shares changing hands to end at 94 cents. Trading in the stock was between 94 cents and $1.20 and it closed with a bid at 85 cents, to buy 57,000 shares. On the offer were 800,562 shares at 94 cents.
