The Jamaica Stock Exchange, ended on another strong note, with the largest number of stocks gaining for a long time. The market closed out April with big gains for the month. At the end of March the all Jamaica Composite Index was at 92,415.82 and gained 10,576.43 points or 11.4 percent during April.
The strong market activity on Thursday, resulted in the prices of 23 stocks rising, 5 declining as 34 securities changed hands, ending in 7,695,548 units trading, valued at $109,643,238, in all market segments. The JSE Market Index gained 1,987.22 points to 93,264.43, the JSE sm 30-4-15JSE All Jamaican Composite index jumped 2,221.80 points to close at 102,992.25 and the JSE combined index gained 2,133.14 points to close at 95,042.74. At one point during trading, the market recorded more than 3,000 points gain on the all Jamaica Composite index.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows 13 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and only 2 with offers that were lower. This out turn indicates another strong day ahead for price movements.
The main stocks trading| Caribbean Cement traded only 100 shares, gained 55 cents to end at $3.85, but closed with the bid at $3.88, Carreras ended trading with 31,886 shares to close at a new 52 weeks’ high of $47.08, but ended with a bid at $47.49, followed by Desnoes & Geddes with only 500 units in closing at a new 52 weeks’ high of $6.02. Hardware & Lumber had only 480 units changing hands, gained 45 cents to end at $7.50,JSE fn qts 30-4-15 Jamaica Broilers closed with 24,500 shares at $4.75, after falling by 35 cents, Jamaica Producers lost 25 cents with 60,000 shares to end at $17.25. JMMB Group gained 50 cents and closed at a new 52 weeks’ high of $8 with 13,250 shares changing hands, Kingston Wharves traded 16,105 units with the price declining 56 cents to $5.95. Mayberry Investments had 711,200 units changing hands a new 52 weeks’ high of $2.60, National Commercial Bank traded 3,066,787 shares between $29.50 and the closing price and closed with a gain of $1.58 at a new 52 weeks’ high of $30.08. Pan Jamaican Investment price fell $3 with only 885 units trading at $57, Sagicor Group had 290,390 shares and closed 21 cents higher for a new 52 weeks’ high of $11.01. Scotia Group traded 58,380 shares to gain 25 cents and end at a new 52 weeks’ high of $23.25, Scotia Investments traded just 910 units to gain $2.90 and closed at $27, Seprod had only 630 units trading, to end at $18.50 and Supreme Ventures traded 515,400 units to close at $3.50, but traded as high as $3.75, for a new 52 weeks intraday high.

The stock market closed on Wednesday with 12 stock recording price gain versus only 1 with a decline, that performance does not look like a flash in the pan based on what the IC Indicator is showing at the end of trading.,

National Commercial Bank, closed at a new 52 weeks’ high of $26.50 with 301,200 shares changing hands at 50 cents higher than on Tuesday and ahead of the company reporting six months results and dividend payment on Thursday.

Cable & Wireless with 256,932 units traded at 52 cents and ended with the bid at 53 cents to buy 100,000 shares. Ciboney Group traded 2,000,000 shares at 6, Desnoes & Geddes gained 10 cents and traded 29,400 at $6 with an offer at $6.50 at the close. Grace Kennedy with 19,224 shares that traded closed at 90 cents higher at $63, Jamaica Broilers had 86,530 shares trading to close at $4.70,
JMMB Group traded 855,593 ordinary shares for 38 cents higher at $7.48. The stock had JMMB Securities on the offer selling 268,800 units at $7.48, 5000 units at $7.50 and 34,655 shares at $8.50 as the lowest offers posted at the end of trading.The broker posted small buy orders from $7.03 to $7.10. Victoria Mutual Wealth Management sold the bulk of the shares to trade with Sagiocr Investments being the major buyer of them.
Radio Jamaica traded 13,372 shares at $2 to gain 25 cents, Sagicor Group traded 66,350 shares JSE  qts 22-4-15to close at $10.55 while gaining 10 cents in the process but traded as high as $10.75 before the close. Sagicor Real Estate X Fund had 529,519 units changing hands to close at $6.50, after shedding 25 cents. Salada Foods traded 35,480 at $9, Scotia Group saw 118,289 units, closing at $22, Supreme Ventures 19,900 units traded 4 cents higher at $2.84 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share, traded 317,331 units at $3.20 with an increase of 10 cents.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange enjoyed a major move at the end of trading resulting from the prices of 13 stocks rising, 5 declining as Scotia Group contributed a large portion of the movement. Main Market|The JSE Market Index gained 2,261.39 points to 87,351.52, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 2,528.34 points to close at 96,381.35 putting it back in line with the close of 96,381.58 on May 3, 2012 and the JSE combined index gained 2,134.42 points to close at 89,072.22. Scotia Group’s price movement to $24.50 in early trading was the major factor behind the big surge in the main market indices, as such there may be a fall back on Tuesday as Scotia’s price seems likely to settle back well below the price of $23.81 used in computing today’s indices, unless other stocks move up to compensate.

Kingston Wharves traded just 4,00 shares but ended up gaining 50 cents to close at $6.40, Scotia Investments gained 49 cents in trading 1,200 units at $23.50 and Supreme Ventures traded 4,000 units at $2.80 by gaining 30 cents.

All Jamaica Index crosses 90,000

JSE close 3-3-15The JSE closed on Tuesday with sharp gains in the main market indices with the all Jamaica Composite closing over 90,000 points for the first time since July 2013.
Helping with the increase was gains in 11 stocks, mainly in Cable & Wireless, Desnoes & Geddes, National Commercial Bank, Scotia Investments, Supreme Ventures. Todays move puts the market just 1,500 points from crossing over the resistance level of 91,700 points on the all Jamaica index. After three consecutive days of declining stocks beating out advancing ones last week, breaking the trend that was in place since the start of the year, with no trading day closing with number of declining stocks being more than advancing ones, activity on the exchange returned to the trend prior to the days of decline on Monday. At the close on Monday, the prices of 10 stocks gained, 6 declined as 23 securities changed hands, ending in 4,912,390 units trading, valued at $30,624,883 in all market segments. The positive advance, decline ratio did not prevent large declines in the main market indices as Carreras gave back most of the gain it enjoyed on Friday.
