Big JSE Main Market jump

Trading activity dived on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday, but rising prices beat out those declining, following a 77 percent drop in the volume of stocks traded and an 87 percent fall in value from Tuesday, resulting from trading in 56 securities compared with 62 on Tuesday, with prices of 19 rising, 13 declining and 24 ending unchanged.
Overall, 3,998,798 shares were traded for $44,873,267 in comparison with 17,429,449 units at $353,349,332 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 71,407 shares at $801,308 down from 281,120 units at $5,699,183 on Tuesday. Trading for the month to date, averages 142,086 units at $1,519,272 compared to 147,748 units at $1,576,792 on the previous day. Trading in  November averaged 275,587 units at $2,488,949.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 972,604 shares for 24.3 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 810,804 units for 20.3 percent of the day’s trade and Supreme Ventures with 500,542 units for 12.5 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index blasted 3,444.03 points higher to 351,411.76, the JSE Main Index jumped 2,092.44 points to end trading at 315,262.16 and the JSE Financial Index rallied 0.19 points to 68.53.

At the close, Barita Investments increased 90 cents in closing at $70.95 with an exchange of 9,553 stock units, Caribbean Cement rose 29 cents to $53.59 after 1,390 shares were traded, GraceKennedy popped 57 cents and ended at $78.57 with investors dealing in 116,168 stock units. Guardian Holdings rallied $8 to close at $400 and closed with an exchange of 548 stocks, Jamaica Broilers sank $1.10 to end at $33.01 with a transfer of 56,112 units, Jamaica Producers rose 97 cents in closing at $23.72 as investors exchanged 16,902 stocks. Jamaica Stock Exchange advanced 40 cents to $9.60, after 48 shares passed through the market, Massy Holdings gained 44 cents to end at $89.94 with investors swapping 40 stock units, Mayberry Group dropped 45 cents to close at $8.40, with 203,772 shares crossing the market. NCB Financial rose 30 cents and ended at $65.80 in switching ownership of 106,244 stock units, Pan Jamaica rallied 50 cents to $49.50 with investors trading 738 stocks, Scotia Group increased 72 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $37.12 in an exchange of 96,527 units after the price hit a new intraday 52 weeks’ high of $41.50 that induced new selling to come into the market. At the close, there were only 5 offers to sell less than 30,000 units at $40 or below, but bids to buy are mostly below $37. Seprod shed 40 cents and ended at $74 after trading 1,848 shares, Stanley Motta popped 78 cents to end at $5.99 while exchanging 900 stock units and Sygnus Credit Investments declined 29 cents in closing at $10.70 with traders dealing in 6,058 stocks.

Trading up on JSE USD Market

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks changing hands rising 174 percent valued 262 percent more than on Tuesday, resulting in five securities traded, compared to four on Tuesday with prices of three stocks rising, one declining and one ending unchanged, with the US Denominated Equities Index skidded 2.61 points to close at 218.98.
Overall, 130,502 shares were traded, for US$2,973 compared with 47,641 units at US$822 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 26,100 units at US$595, versus 11,910 shares at US$205 on Tuesday, with a month to date average of 30,123 shares at US$1,517 compared with 30,432 units at US$1,588 on the previous day in contrast November ended with an average of 249,102 units for US$14,204.

In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% remained at US$1.05 after an exchange of 857 shares.

Junior Market popps

Trading jumped at the close of Wednesday of the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange with the volume of stocks traded surging 175 percent and the value 141 percent more than Tuesday as Indies Pharma led trading with 3.90 million shares for 40.5 percent of total volume followed by Stationery and Office Supplies with 3.10 million units for 32.2 percent of the day’s trade and iCreate with 909,586 units for 9.4 percent market share with 37 securities trading compared with 41 on Tuesday with prices of 14 stocks rising, 15 declining and eight closing unchanged.
Investors traded 9,632,022 shares for $21,100,384, jumping from 3,501,618 units at $8,751,901 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 260,325 shares at $570,281, up from 85,405  stock units at $213,461 on Tuesday with the month to date, averaging 162,082 units at $342,317 compared with 155,065 stock units at $326,034 on the previous day, below November with an average of 262,280 units at $587,545.
At the close, the Junior Market Index jumped 51.10 points to finish at 3,701.34.

The Main and Junior markets indices surged to close out trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday but the USD Market declined, with market activity ending with the volume and value of stocks traded falling below Tuesday’s levels.
At the close of the market, Main Market stocks rallying were Guardian Holdings with a gain of $8, Jamaica Producers climbing 97 cents. Barita Investments, was up by 90 cents, Stanley Motta rising 78 cents and Scotia Group closed at a new 52 weeks’ closing high of $37.12 after the price hit an intraday 52 weeks’ high of $41.50. Declining Main Market stocks include Jamaica Broilers down $1.10 and Mayberry Group with a fall of 45 cents.
Rising Junior Market stocks include Main Event up 50 cents, CAC 2000 gaining 34 cents and Lasco Manufacturing gained 25 cents while ISP Finance fell 50 cents, AMG Packaging down 43 cents and Caribbean Assurance Brokers slipped 25 cents.
At the close of trading, the JSE Combined Market Index popped 2,409.89 points to close at 328,081.90, the All Jamaican Composite Index rallied 3,444.03 points to 351,411.76, the JSE Main Index climbed 2,092.44 points to finish at 315,262.16. The Junior Market Index jumped 51.10 points to wrap-up trading at 3,701.34 and the JSE USD Market Index dipped 2.73 points to close at 218.88.
Investors traded 13,761,322 shares, in all three markets, down from 20,978,708 units on Tuesday. The value of stocks traded on the Junior and Main markets amounts to $65.97 million compared with $360.1 million on Tuesday. The JSE USD market closed after 130,502 shares were traded, for US$2,973 compared to 47,641 units at US$822 on Tuesday.

Rising stocks jump on the Trinidad Exchange

Trading ended on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, prices mostly rising following an 85 percent drop in the volume of stocks traded but with a slightly lower value than on Tuesday resulting in trading of 18 securities compared with 15 on Tuesday and ended with prices of nine stocks rising, four declining and five remaining unchanged.
Investors exchanged 199,721 shares for $6,925,227 down from 1,294,272 stock units at $7,178,453 on Tuesday.
An average of 11,096 units were traded at $384,735 compared to 86,285 shares at $478,564 on Tuesday, with trading month to date averaging 16,965 shares at $186,965 compared with 17,433 units at $171,213 on the previous day. The average trade for November amounts to 19,241 shares at $227,402.
The Composite Index rose 4.01 points to lock up trading at 1,189.02, the All T&T Index popped 3.86 points to 1,789.05, the SME Index remained unchanged at 72.85 and the Cross-Listed Index popped 0.59 points to finish at 76.55.

JSE Main Market slips on increased trading

JMMB Group dominated trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Tuesday, with an exchange of more than 11 million shares with a value of $278 million which led to a 143 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded with the value climbing 221 percent more than on Monday, following trading in 62 securities compared with 52 on Monday and ended with prices of 22 stocks rising, 18 declining and 22 ending unchanged.
Trading ended with an exchange of 17,429,449 shares at $353,349,332 compared with 7,174,227 units at $110,200,209 on Monday.
Trading averaged 281,120 shares at $5,699,183 compared with 137,966 units at $2,119,235 on Monday and month to date, an average of 147,748 units at $1,576,792, compared to 134,767 units at $1,175,554 on the previous day and below November with an average of 275,587 units at $2,488,949.
JMMB Group led trading with 11.12 million shares for 63.8 percent of total volume followed by Transjamaican Highway with 2.07 million units for 11.9 percent of the day’s trade and Kingston Wharves with 1.60 million units for 9.2 percent of the day’s trade.
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 486.87 points to conclude trading at 347,967.73, the JSE Main Index fell 15.87 points to cease trading at 313,169.72 and the JSE Financial Index climbed 0.35 points to wrap up trading at 68.34.

Junior Market slips on reduced trading

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 29 percent and the value 15 percent lower than Monday with 41 securities trading compared with 42 on Monday and ended with 15 rising, 13 declining and 13 closing unchanged.
Investors traded 3,501,618 shares for $8,751,901 compared with 4,931,463 units at $10,278,286 on Monday.
Trading averaged 85,405 shares at $213,461, compared with 117,416 units at $244,721 on Monday with the month to date, averaging 155,065 units at $326,034 compared with 161,052 stock units at $335,710 on the previous day to end below November with an average of 262,280 units at $587,545.
iCreate led trading with 762,439 shares for 21.8 percent of total volume following the company being placed in receivership and was followed by Fosrich with 624,699 units for 17.8 percent of the day’s trade and Elite Diagnostic with 509,097 units for 14.5 percent market share.

Indies Pharma dropped 9 cents in closing at $2.86, with 49,581 stocks changing hands, Lasco Distributors shed 16 cents to close at $3.77 with investors swapping 3,384 stock units. Lasco Financial climbed 26 cents to end at $1.88, with 600 shares crossing the exchange, Main Event sank $1.30 to close at $13 in trading 100,022 stock units and Paramount Trading increased 15 cents and ended at $1.63, with just 9 stocks crossing the market.

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks changing hands dropping 83 percent valued 89 percent lower than on Monday, resulting from trading in four securities compared to five on Monday with one rising, two declining and one ending unchanged.
Overall, 47,641 shares were traded, for US$822 down from 286,910 units at US$7,613 on Monday.

Trading rises on Trinidad Exchange but index slips

Trading ended down on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 371 percent and the value 308 percent more than on Monday and resulting in the trading of 15 securities down from 17 on Monday, with prices of four stocks rising, five declining and six ending unchanged.
Investors exchanged 1,294,272 shares for $7,178,453 up from a mere 274,928 stock units at $1,760,054 on Monday.
An average of 86,285 units were traded at $478,564 compared to 16,172 shares at $103,533 on Monday, with trading month to date averaging 17,433 shares at $171,213 compared with 12,538 units at $149,359 on the previous day, down from an average trade for November of 19,241 shares at $227,402.
The Composite Index lost 6.80 points to end at 1,185.01, the All T&T Index dropped 11.76 points to end the day at 1,785.19, the SME Index remained unchanged at 72.85 and the Cross-Listed Index declined 0.21 points to cease trading at 75.96.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows six stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Agostini’s ended trading at $68.50 with investors exchanging just 10 shares, Angostura Holdings climbed $1.01 to $21 after 28 shares passed through the market, Ansa McAl dipped $3.90 and ended at $52 after an exchange of 821 stocks. CinemaOne ended at $7.25 with trading in 20 shares, First Citizens ended at $49 with an exchange of 4,600 stocks, FirstCaribbean International Bank ended at $7 with investors dealing in 158,188 units. GraceKennedy rose 10 cents to close at $4.20 while exchanging 4,950 shares, JMMB Group remained at $1.30 in switching ownership of 11,741 stock units, Massy Holdings sank 10 cents to $4.26, with 1,086,494 shares passing through the market. National Enterprises rose 7 cents and ended at $4.15 with an exchange of 16,924 stocks, One Caribbean Media dipped 10 cents to $3.40, with 80 stocks changing hands, Republic Financial lost $2 to end at $122 with a transfer of 7,520 stock units. Scotiabank popped 18 cents in closing at $69.98 after 228 shares crossed the exchange, Trinidad & Tobago NGL ended at $10.32 after a transfer of 1,358 stocks and West Indian Tobacco skidded 50 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $8.50 after investors ended trading 1,310 units.
