Another quiet week for IC TOP 10

For a second consecutive week, there were no changes in the companies on the IC TOP 10 listings, with the markets going sideways and little or no significant price moving news.

Barita public stock offer pulled money away from other JSE stocks.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange market activity was negatively affected by funds diverted away from the as investors moved money into the successful Barita Investments issue of new shares. The Issue closed on Wednesday gone and was upsized to $13.5 billion, resulting in a more than doubling of the issued shares from $10.88 billion to $24.38 billion and the overall equity capital to $28.74 billion.
The past week that saw the local market trading in a narrow range, with the Junior Market closing slightly down for the week after ending the previous week at the highest point since August 28 and the Main Market had the highest weekly close since the end of August.
The top three stocks in each market saw no change in ranking, leaving the top three Junior Market stocks, with the potential to gain between 292 to 695 percent by March 2021. Caribbean Producers heads the list, followed by Lasco Financial and Elite Diagnostic. The focus on all three is on the 2021 fiscal year results projected to show recovery from the 2020 financial year final numbers. The top three Main Market stocks, with expected gains of 204 to 228 percent, are Radio Jamaica, followed by Berger Paints, with the price rising 7 percent during the week and JMMB Group.
This week’s focus – Tropical Battery issue for 325 million ordinary shares at $1 each of with up to 187.5 million units reserved for priority applications, opens Tuesday, September 22, with the scheduled closing of September 30, subject to the right of the Company to close it earlier. With earnings per share around 7.7 cents, the stock is priced around a PE ratio of 13 times 2020 earnings, leaving little or no room for short term gains as it is priced 19 percent above the market average.
The targeted average PE ratio of the market is 20 based on the profits of companies reporting full year’s results, from now to the second quarter in 2021. Both the Junior and Main markets are currently trading well below this level, indicating the potential gains ahead. The JSE Main Market ended the week, with an overall PE of 15.3 and the Junior Market 11, based on IC Insider.com’s projected 2020-21 earnings. The average PE ratio of the Junior Market has been slowly rising, with better profit opportunities than the Main Market and narrowing the gap. The PE ratio for the Junior Market Top 10 stocks average a mere six at just 55 percent to the average of the overall Junior Market. The Main Market TOP 10 stocks trade at a PE of 8.2 or 54 percent of the PE of the overall market.
The average projected gain for the Junior Market IC TOP 10 stocks is 280 percent, and 151 percent for the JSE Main Market, based on 2020-21 earnings, indicates potentially more significant gains in the Junior Market than in the Main Market.
IC TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns up to March 2021 and ranked in order of potential gains, based on possible gain for each Company, taking into account the earnings and PE ratios for the current fiscal year.  Expected values will change as stock prices fluctuate and will result in movements of the selection in and out of the lists for most weeks. Revisions to earnings per share are ongoing, based on receipt of new information.

JSE Main Market ends week with gains

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Friday, with the market rising after an almost equal number of stocks rising and falling after an exchange of 95 percent more shares and 437 percent more value than on Thursday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index carved out a gain of 2,653.46 points to 403,299.57, the Main Index increased 2,608.75 points to 368,392.30 and the JSE Financial Index gained 1.17 points to settle at 96.99.
Trading ended with 39 securities changing hands compared to 43 on Thursday and closed with the prices of 15 stocks rising, 16 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.6 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 12,180,541 shares for $217,796,102 compared to 6,254,690 units at $40,537,477 on Thursday. Kingston Wharves led trading with 32.9 percent of total volume equaling 4 million shares, followed by Pulse Investments with 21.2 percent for 2.58 million units, Wigton Windfarm with 16.1 percent market share for 1.96 million units and Transjamaican Highway with 1.86 million units changing hands for 15.3 percent of the day’s volume.
Trading closed with an average of 312,322 units changing hands at $5,584,515 for each security compared to an average of 145,458 shares at  $942,732 on Thursday. The average trade for the month to date ended at 217,776 units at $1,474,275 for each security, in contrast to 211.084 units at $1,183,350. Trading month to date compares adversely to August’s average of 497,441 units at  $3,201,918.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the market shows eight stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Barita Investments shed 99 cents to end at $59, with investors swapping 13,701 shares, Caribbean Cement climbed $1.65 to $49.15, after exchanging 313 units, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund jumped $5.48 to settle at an all-time high of $57.48, in an exchange of  156 stock units. First Rock Capital closed at $13, after picking up 55 cents and trading 6,461 stocks, Jamaica Broilers Group gained 50 cents to settle at  $26, with 13,590 stock units clearing the market, JMMB Group rose 58 cents to $29.60, in trading  4,656 stock units. Key Insurance climbed 75 cents to $8.48 after exchanging 73,209  shares. Kingston Wharves declined $4  in closing at $46, after an exchange of 4,004,829 shares, Mayberry Investments lost 43 cents to finish at $5.17, with 16,500 stock units passing through the market, NCB Financial Group fell to $132, after losing $1 and trading  42,183 stock units. 138 Student Living gained 49 cents to close at $5, with an exchange of 30 shares, Palace Amusement dropped $125 to end at $1,495 in an exchange of 13 units, Proven Investments lost  64 cents to settle at $38.50, in transferring 1,631 units, Sagicor Group lost 40 cents to close at $44.30, with investors swapping 35,333 shares. Scotia Group advanced by $3.75,  ending at $50 while exchanging 47,493 shares, Seprod lost 89 cents to close at $55, with investors switching ownership of 2,229 stock units and Wisynco Group rose $1.34, in ending at $16.50, with 25,039 stock units changing hands.
In the preference segment of the market, Community & Workers Credit Union gained  43 cents to end at $1.98 in trading just five units.

Rising stocks shine as Junior Market dips

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday, with the market declining after slightly more stocks rose than fell after 78 percent more shares traded than Thursday.
Trading resulted in the same number of securities on Thursday and Friday changing hands with 31 each day and closed with the prices of 13 stocks rising, 11 declining and seven remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dropped 11.17 points to settle at 2,497.10. The average PE Ratio of ended at 10.6 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 3,117,697  shares for $4,670,235 compared to 1,750,144 units at $6,183,716 on Thursday. Lumber Depot led trading with 80 percent of total volume after 2.50 million shares changed hands, followed by Mailpac Group with 7.2 percent or 223,047 units and General Accident with 70,442 units for 2.3 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 100,571 units at $150,653 compared to 56,456 at $199,475 on  Thursday. For the month to date, the average trade resulted in an exchange of 104,252 units at  $235,332 compared to 104,530 units at $241,734 on Thursday. Trading in August resulted in an average of 104,426 units at $321,996.

The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Friday, with the market declining after over 41 times more shares traded than on Thursday, resulting in more stocks falling than rising. 
At the close of the market, trading ended similar to Thursday, with five securities changing hands and ended with the prices of one stock rising, three declining and one remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equities Index lost 1.98 points to settle at 190.96, with the average PE Ratio ending at 12.6 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 860,406 shares, accounting for US$20,339  compared to 20,101 units at US$32,755 on Thursday. The average trade ended at 172,081 units changing hands at US$4,068, in contrast to an average of 4,020 shares at US$6,551 on Thursday. Trading ended, with an average of 93,239 units for the month to date at US$11,962  in contrast to 83,384 units at US$12,949. By comparison, August ended with an average of 83,402 units for US$7,526.

Declining TTSE stocks beat gainers 5 to 2

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange closed on Friday, after 197 percent more shares traded than on Thursday, resulting in a near 5 to 2 ratio of declining to advancing stocks.
The T&T Composite Index declined by 5.59 points to 1,318.36, The All T&T Index added 4.65 points to 1,801.51, while the Cross Listed Index fell by 2.18 points to close at 112.77.
The market closed with sixteen securities trading with two stocks advancing, nine declining and five unchanged. Market activity ended with 142,979 shares valued at $1,460,607 changing hands compared to 48,041 shares for $909,097 from 11 securities on Thursday.
The average trade on Friday amounted to 8,936 units at $91,288 versus an average of 4,371 stock units for $82,463 for each security. The average trade of 10,804 units at $139,058 for the month to date compares to 10,969 units at $143,280 on Thursday. August closed with an average of 15,631 shares for $367,803.

Junior Market rallies on Thursday

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, with the market rising as more stocks rose than fell as investors traded 37 percent fewer shares than Wednesday, but with almost the same dollar value.
Trading ended with 31 securities changing hands compared to 29 on Wednesday and ended with the prices of 17 stocks rising, the prices of 10 stocks declining and four, with remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index gained 25.28 points to settle at 2,508.27. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 10.7 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 1,750,144 shares for $6,183,716 compared to 2,756,985 units at $6,229,918 on Wednesday.
Mailpac Group led trading with 29.2 percent of total volume resulting in an exchange of 510,609 shares followed by Main Event, with 20.7 percent for 362,231 units and Indies Pharma with 9.3 percent or 162,846 stock units.

JSE Main Market closes higher Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Thursday with the market rising after slightly more stocks rose than declined after an exchange of 30 percent fewer shares than on Wednesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index gained 1,124.89 points to 400,646.11; the Main Index increased 1,078.27 points to 365,783.55 and the JSE Financial Index shed 0.37 points to settle at 95.82.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands compared to 44 on Wednesday and closed with the prices of 18 stocks rising,16 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.3 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 6,254,690 shares for $40,537,477  compared to 8,881,013 units at $39,150,303 on Wednesday.
On another day of low volume passing through the market, Pulse Investments carved out 32.7 percent of total volume, with 2.05 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway for 15.3 percent, with 957,355 units and Wisynco Group, with 12.9 percent, amounting to 808,615 shares.
Trading ended with an average of 145,458 units changing hands at $942,732 for each security compared to an average of 201,841 shares at  $889,780 on Wednesday. The average trade for the month to date ended at  211,084  units at $1,183,350 for each security, in contrast to  216,639 units at $1,203,718. JSE USD market slips on lower volume

The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Thursday, with the market declining after 54 percent fewer shares changed hands than on Wednesday, resulting in more stocks falling than rising. 
At the close of the market, trading ended with five securities changing hands compared to two on Wednesday and ended with the prices of one stock rising, two declining and two remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 0.91 points to settle at 192.94, with the average PE Ratio ending at 12.9 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 20,101 shares, accounting for US$32,755  compared to 37,232 units at US$13,216 on Wednesday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 4,020 units changing hands at  US$6,551, in contrast to 18,616 shares at US$6,608 on Wednesday. Trading ended, with an average of 83,384 units for the month to date at US$12,949 in comparison to 99,335 units at US$14,302. By contrast, August ended with an average of 83,402 units for US$7,526.

Investors push TTSE higher on Wednesday

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, with the market rising after 75 percent fewer shares traded than on Wednesday, resulting in a tie between rising and declining stocks.
The market closed with eleven securities trading with three stocks advancing, three declining and five unchanged.  The volume of stocks passing through the market amounted to 48,041 shares valued at $907,097 compared to 190,298 shares for $3,240,340 on Wednesday from 17 securities.
The average trade on Thursday amounted to 4,371 units at $82,463 versus an average of 11,194 stock units for $190,608 for each security. The average trade of 10,969 units at $143,280 for the months to date compares to 11,395 units at $147,215 on Wednesday. August closed with an average of 15,631 shares for $367,803.

JSE Main market in a struggle

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Wednesday with the market declining after four stocks fell for three rising after an exchange of 78 percent more shares than on Tuesday, with similar values.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 3,653.98 points to 399,521.22. The Main Index fell by 3,312.47 points to 364,705.28, the JSE Financial Index shed 1.02 points to settle at 96.19.

Eppley rose 85 cents to end at $24.85, in exchanging 100 units, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund climbed 50 cents to $50, with 530 units crossing the market, Grace Kennedy rose $1.20 in closing at $57 and trading 28,405 shares. Jamaica Broilers settled at $24.90, after gaining 30 cents in the transfer of 3,416 units, Jamaica Stock Exchange closed 75 cents higher at $18.40, with 4,068 stock units traded, Kingston Properties shed $1.10 to settle at $6.30 with investors swapping 50 units. Kingston Wharves jumped $6.90 to settle at  $49.90 after 350 units crossed the market, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy dropped $8 to $155, in an exchange of 321 units, Portland JSX lost 48 cents in closing at $7.02 and trading 2,400 stock units. Proven Investments fell $1.82 to $36.17, with investors swapping 3,366 stock units, Salada Foods declined by $3.74 to $25.01, with an exchange of  6,979 stock units, Scotia Group shed 50 cents to settle at $47.50, in transferring 117,147 shares. Seprod rose to $55.89, after climbing $1.89 and exchanging  22,839 shares, Supreme Ventures gained 65 cents to close at $14, trading 24,670 shares and Sygnus Credit Investments rose  47 cents to $17.97, with 26,303 shares changing hands.
