Gains for JSE main market

Stocks moved mostly higher at the close of trading on Thursday as funds chasing stocks climbed 64 percent over Wednesday and leading the main indices higher after 30 percent fewer shares were exchanged than on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rose 1,755.38 points to 435,166.46, the Main Index gained 1,609.90 points to 396,833.17, but the JSE Financial Index lost 0.17 points to settle at 99.90.
Investors traded 47 securities, up from 40 on Wednesday and closed with 20 rising, 17 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 11,391,248 shares for $97,106,816 versus 16,449,582 units at $59,313,530 on Wednesday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 28.8 percent of total volume, after exchanging 3.28 million shares followed by Transjamaican Highway with 25.2 percent for 2.88 million units, Sterling Investments 14.4 percent. with 1.64 million units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 12.5 percent for an exchange of 1.42 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 242,367 units at $2,066,102, compared to 411,240 shares at $1,482,838 on Wednesday. Month to date trading averaged 328,734 units at $1,776,771, in contrast to 358,582 units at $1,676,782 on Wednesday. February closed with an average of 419,015 units at $2,509,660.

At the close, Berger Paints rose 65 cents to $14.10 trading 200 shares, Caribbean Cement lost 20 cents to $67 after exchanging 39,426 units, Carreras gained 27 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $8, with a transfer of 105,183 stock units. Eppley fell $1.70 to $26.50, with the swapping of 19,020 units, First Rock Capital finished 75 cents higher at $16, with 55,350 units crossing the market, Grace Kennedy slipped 98 cents to $90 trading 25,817 stocks. Jamaica Broilers fell 34 cents to $28.40 with 199,980 shares clearing the market, Jamaica Producers slipped 30 cents to $19.70, after an exchange of 51,994 units. Mayberry Investments gained 22 cents to $5.51, with 54,469 shares changing hands. Mayberry Jamaican Equities declined 99 cents to $7.01 after switching ownership of 4,300 stocks, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy climbed $4 to $154 after exchanging 21 shares, NCB Financial advanced $3.21 to $144.21 transferring 231,896 units. 138 Student Living gained 40 cents to end at $6, with 52 shares changing hands, PanJam Investment rose $1.90 to $66 in exchanging 31,927 stock units, Proven Investments dropped $5.80 to $33.20 trading 24,484 shares. Sagicor Group shed 80 cents to $51.10 with the swapping of 74,129 stock units, Salada Foods rose $5.99 to $44.50 in an exchange of 38 units. Scotia Group fell $2.49 to end at $40.01 trading 40,887 shares, Seprod declined $1.77 to $68.23 in a transfer of 74,108 stock units, Sterling Investments lost 23 cents to end at $2.77 in exchanging 1,643,311 units. Supreme Ventures rose 95 cents to $15.95 trading 36,943 shares and Wisynco Group gained 23 cents to $16.23, with 25,585 units changing hands.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living preference share shed 90 cents in closing at $4.20 trading 800 shares.

Momentum slips for Junior Market

The momentum gained Wednesday was partially lost at the close of trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the market index declining 14.73 points to 2,872.60 after the volume changing hands grew by 90 percent, with 83 percent more money chased stocks over Wednesday’s levels.
Securities trading, totalled 34 compared to 38 on Wednesday, with prices of 13 rising, 13 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 10,531,327 shares for $28,812,102 up from 5,551,072 units at $15,784,558 on Wednesday.
Derrimon Trading led the day with 50.9 percent of total volume with a transfer of 5.37 million shares, followed by Jamaican Teas 15.3 percent with 1.61 million units and Caribbean Flavours with 8.5 percent after trading 897,013 units.
Trading averaged 309,745 units at $847,415 in contrast to 146,081 at $415,383 on Wednesday. The month to date, averaged 227,586 units at $642,639, compared to 203,082 units at $581,565 on Wednesday. February closed with an average of 365,365 units at $881,118.

Fontana fell 10 cents to $5.75 with a transfer of 438,720 shares, Fosrich climbed 17 cents to $5.10 with 188,333 units traded, General Accident rose 41 cents to $5.92 with 1,639 stocks changing hands. iCreate rose 5 cents to 70 cents with an exchange of 166,879 stock units, Iron Rock Insurance lost 10 cents to settle at $3.50 with 3,186 shares passing through the market, Jamaican Teas advanced 14 cents to $3.28 with 1,608,532 units traded. Knutsford Express declined by 9 cents to finish at $6.51 with a transfer of 14,561 stocks, Lasco Distributors fell 10 cents to $3.60 with 148,950 shares changing hands, Lasco Manufacturing dropped 34 cents to $4.26 with investors switching ownership of 154,200 units. Lumber Depot slipped 6 cents to $2.64 with 414,871 stocks traded and SSL Venture gained 8 cents to close at 66 cents with 3,850 shares crossing the exchange.

Stocks inched higher on JSE USD market

Stocks mostly rose at the close of trading on Thursday, with the market inching higher after trading 47 percent shares than on Wednesday, on the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, resulting in more stocks falling than rising.
Trading ended with five securities changing hands for a second consecutive day, ending with three rising, two declining and none ended unchanged.
JSE USD Equity Index slipped 0.25 points to end at 199.14. The average PE Ratio ends at 14.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 268,082 shares amounting to  US$45,538, down from 507,955 units at US$159,801 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 53,616 units at US$9,108, in contrast to 101,591 shares at US$31,960 on Wednesday. Trading averaged 58,519 units for the month to date at US$12,218 in contrast to 60,051 units at US$13,190 on Wednesday. By comparison, February ended with an average of 69,547 units for US$9,223.

Stocks break losing streak on TTSE

After four days of trading in March and the final two days in February, rising stocks finally whipped declining ones on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange when the market ended trading on Thursday, with the market indices rising after trading of 18 percent fewer shares valued at 68 percent less than on Wednesday.
Trading ended with 19 securities changing hands up from 15 on Wednesday, with seven rising, three declining and nine finishing unchanged. Grace Kennedy closed at 52 weeks’ high.
The Composite Index increased 2.32 points to 1,325.93, the All T&T Index rose 4.80 points to 1,761.87 and the Cross Listed Index slipped 0.03 points to 120.38.
The market closed with an exchange of 287,671 shares, for $5,750,419, down from 350,191 units at $18,129,021 on Wednesday.
An average of 15,141 units traded for the day at $302,654 compared to 23,346 at $1,208,601 on Wednesday. An average of 13,309 units traded at $436,983 for the month to date compared to 12,665 units at $484,247. The average trade for February amounted to 15,920 for $307,754.

Trading picks up for US$ traded stocks

Trading activity picked up on Wednesday, with a jump of 282 percent in the value of traded stocks after a 23 percent increase in the number of shares changing hands over Tuesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market.
At the close, five securities changed hands, compared to six on Tuesday, with prices of two rising, one declining and two remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equity Index gained 3.38 points to end at 199.39, to be up 7 percent for the year to date. The PE Ratio averages 13.8 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 507,955 shares for US$159,801, up from 414,346 units at US$41,873 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 101,591 units at US$31,960, in contrast to 69,058 shares at US$6,979 on Tuesday. Month to date trading averaged 60,051 units at US$13,190, in contrast to 41,169 units at US$4,658 on the prior trading day. February ended with an average of 69,547 units for US$9,223.

Junior Market rebounds on Wednesday

Stocks rebounded sharply in trading on Wednesday, wiping out 72 percent of Tuesday’s big loss in the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market index putting it in close touch of the 2,900 points level again.
Trading ended with 38 securities changing hands down from 40 on Tuesday with the prices of 15 stocks rising, 15 declining and eight closing unchanged.
The Junior Market Index jumped 34.13 points to 2,887.33. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 37 percent fewer shares at 45 percent less value than on Tuesday, resulting from trading of 5,551,072 shares for $15,784,558, down from 8,845,580 units at $27,670,299 on Tuesday.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 20.7 percent of total volume of 1.15 million shares, followed by Derrimon Trading with 20.2 percent, with a transfer of 1.12 million units and Mailpac Group with 14.1 of the day’s trade for 782,591 units.
Trading averaged 146,081 units at $415,383 in contrast to 221,140 at $691,757 on Tuesday. The month to date averaged 203,082 units at $581,565, down from 231,583 units at $664,656 on Tuesday. February closed with an average of 365,365 units at $881,118.

Stocks give up some gains Wednesday

Stocks gave back some of Tuesday’s gains bring the year to date gains to zero when the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Wednesday, with the market declining even as more stocks advanced than declined after an exchange of 15 percent more shares with an 11 percent lower value than on Tuesday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index fell 2,201.29 points to 433,411.08, the Main Index dropped 1,957.22 points to 395,223.27 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.51 points to settle at 100.07.
Investors traded 40 securities, down from 47 on Tuesday and closed with 18 rising, 12 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 16,449,582 shares for $59,313,530 compared to 14,255,372 units at $66,739,337 on Tuesday. Tuesday’s Trinidad stock gains given back

Prices pulled back on Wednesday for seven stocks, while 4 recorded gains in trading on the Tobago Stock Exchange with 27 percent more shares changed hands with a value that was 177 percent higher than Tuesday.
Trading ended with 15 securities, down from 24 on Tuesday, with four stocks rising, seven declining and four finishing unchanged. The market indices movement eroded nearly all of Tuesday’s gains, with the Composite Index dropping 15.35 points to 1,323.61, the All T&T Index fell 1.24 points to close at 1,757.07 and the Cross Listed Index lost 4.04 points to 120.41.

JSE USD market slips for a second day

The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Tuesday, with the market declining after trading 976 percent more shares than on Monday, resulting in more stocks falling than rising but with values climbing 347 percent.
Investors traded six securities, compared to five on Monday and closed with the prices of one rising, two declining and three ending unchanged. The JSE USD Equity Index shed 3.08 points to end at 196.01.
The PE Ratio averages 13.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 414,346 shares, for US$41,873 compared to 38,508 units at US$9,365 on Monday.

Market takes a breather in the move higher

After moving aggressively on Monday, stocks gave back some of Monday’s gains at the close of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Tuesday, with just over half the stocks traded declining with 34 percent fewer funds changing 21 percent fewer shares than on Monday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 1,342.33 points to 435,612.37, the Main Index shed 1,189.08 points to 397,180.49, and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.23 points to settle at 100.58.
Investors traded 47 securities changing hands, down from 49 on Monday and closed with 10 stocks rising, 25 declining and 12 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
