Trading picks up for US$ traded stocks

Trading activity picked up on Wednesday, with a jump of 282 percent in the value of traded stocks after a 23 percent increase in the number of shares changing hands over Tuesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market.
At the close, five securities changed hands, compared to six on Tuesday, with prices of two rising, one declining and two remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equity Index gained 3.38 points to end at 199.39, to be up 7 percent for the year to date. The PE Ratio averages 13.8 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 507,955 shares for US$159,801, up from 414,346 units at US$41,873 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 101,591 units at US$31,960, in contrast to 69,058 shares at US$6,979 on Tuesday. Month to date trading averaged 60,051 units at US$13,190, in contrast to 41,169 units at US$4,658 on the prior trading day. February ended with an average of 69,547 units for US$9,223.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ending with the bid higher than its last selling price and one with a lower offer.
At the close, First Rock Capital ended at 8.90 US cents trading 7,103 shares, Productive Business Solutions rose 9.15 cents to a 52 weeks’ high of US$1, with the swapping of 145,306 stocks, Proven Investments closed at 24 US cents in exchanging 37,603 units. Sygnus Credit Investments fell 0.96 cents to close at 13.92 US cents trading 15,779 stock units and Transjamaican Highway gained 0.03 of a cent to end at 0.93 of a US cent, after an exchange of 302,164 units.
