Big spike in trading on the TTSE

Market activity on Thursday resulted in a rising market after trading 115 percent more shares carrying 211 percent higher value than on Wednesday after more than twice the number of stocks rose as declined at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
At the close of the market, 18 securities traded similar to Wednesday, with prices of nine stocks rising, four declining and five remaining unchanged. The Composite Index inched 1.82 points higher to 1,422.27, the All T&T Index popped 0.36 points to 1,928.66 and The Cross-Listed Index upped 0.47 points to settle at 123.38.
At the close of the market, 526,607 shares traded for $23,241,270 compared to 245,508 units at $1,048,475 on Wednesday. An average of 29,256 units traded at $1,291,182 compared to 13,639 at $58,821 at the end on Wednesday. The average trade for the month to date is 33,477 units at $449,143 versus 34,382 units at $268,706. The average trade for June amounts to 45,770 units at $724,497.

At the close, Agostini’s rose 5 cents to $24.55 after trading 5,202 shares, Ansa Mcal fell 20 cents to $57 after exchanging 2,176 units, Calypso Macro Investment Fund ended at $16.50 with 1,000 units clearing the market, Clico Investment Fund climbed 6 cents to $26.90 after exchanging 1,860 stocks. First Citizens Bank declined 20 cents to $50.30 with an exchange of 2,752 stocks. FirstCaribbean International Bank advanced 10 cents to $6.50 in exchanging 400 stocks, Grace Kennedy climbed 24 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.99 in switching ownership of 241 units, Guardian Holdings popped 37 cents to $34, with 38,802 stock units clearing the market. JMMB Group advanced 4 cents to $2.05 with 200,000 stocks changing hands, Massy Holdings dropped 8 cents to $80.42 in exchanging 254,260 stock units, NCB Financial Group rallied 8 cents to $8.48 after 3,590 units crossed the market. Prestige Holdings remained at $6.99 after trading 195 stock units, Republic Financial Holdings rallied 2 cents to $135.10 while exchanging 2,223 stock units, Scotiabank stayed at $59.75 in trading 350 stocks. Trinidad & Tobago NGL advanced 6 cents to $18.20 after trading 9,956 stocks, Trinidad Cement ended at $3.30 in switching ownership of 1,023 shares, Unilever Caribbean dropped 8 cents to close at $16.25 while exchanging 1,065 units and West Indian Tobacco ended at $32.50, with 1,512 stock units changing hands.

Losses for JSE Main Market

Market activity ended on Wednesday with the market declining, with the volume of shares exchanged rising 75 percent with the value climbing 504 percent higher than on Tuesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 2,454.90 points to 460,664.22, the JSE Main Index shed 674.44 points to end at 423,234.82 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.36 points to 103.93.
Trading ended with 51 securities similar to Tuesday, with 16 stocks rising, 19 declining and 16 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, a measure that determines an appropriate relative value of each stock, averages 17.1 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
A total of 11,432,806 shares traded for $317,069,162 versus 6,642,522 units at $52,483,080 on Tuesday. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund led trading with 44.5 percent of total volume for 5.09 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway 12.7 percent, with 1.45 million units and Wigton Windfarm 11.7 percent, with 1.34 million units.
Trading averaged 224,173 units at $6,217,042, compared to 130,246 shares at $1,029,080 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averages 146,203 units at $2,483,594, in contrast to 126,120 units at $1,521,948 on Tuesday. June ended with an average of 249,610 units at $3,877,606.

Chopping back some of Tuesday’s losses

Trading ended on Wednesday, with the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market holding onto a 14.75 points rise in the index for the day, the first daily gain since the start of July, to finish at 3,379.80 after a transfer of 67 percent more stocks than on Tuesday and bettering the trading value by 43 percent.
Thirty eight (38) securities traded from 39 on Tuesday and ended with prices 22 rising, 11 declining and five closing unchanged.
The PE Ratio, a measure used to compute an appropriate stock value, averages 13 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
Trading was up over Tuesday, with 5,070,178 shares crossing the exchange for $13,802,179 compared to 3,029,126 units at $9,624,269 on Tuesday.
Caribbean Flavours led trading with 39.5 percent of total volume after 2 million shares traded, followed by Future Energy Source 10 percent, with 505,785 units and Mailpac Group 8.7 percent with an exchange of 438,573 units.
Trading averaged 133,426 units at $363,215 in contrast to 77,670 at $246,776 on Tuesday. Month to date trading averages 148,391 units at $351,184, compared to 152,341 units at $348,009 on Tuesday. June closed with an average of 225,705 units at $644,459.

Index gains for JSE USD Market on Wednesday

Trading was a shadow of the previous day at the closed on Wednesday with just changing hands down from six on Tuesday and ended with one stock rising, two declining and one remaining unchanged resulted in an exchange of 80 percent fewer shares and 17 percent less value than on Tuesday, but the market index recovered some of the losses suffered on the previous trading day at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange USD market.
The JSE USD Equity Index gained 2.66 points to end at 189.84. The PE Ratio, a measure that determines an appropriate relative value of each stock, averaged 12 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
Overall, 130,618 shares traded for US$14,817, down from 654,515 units at US$17,881 on Tuesday. Trading averaged 32,655 units at US$3,704, in contrast to 109,086 shares at US$2,980 on Tuesday. Month to date trades averages 44,222 units at US$4,395 compared to 46,425 units at US$4,526 on the prior trading day. June ended with an average of 87,444 units for US$6,162.

Rising TTSE stocks edged out decliners

Market activity ended on Wednesday in a more subdued manner than the previous day but ended with the market rising after investors traded 78 percent fewer shares, carrying an 86 percent lower value than on Tuesday, resulting in slightly more stocks rising than falling at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
At the close, 18 stocks traded versus 17 on Tuesday, with six rising, five slipping and seven ending unchanged. The Composite Index rallied 2.76 points to 1,420.45, the All T&T Index rose 3.40 points to 1,928.30 and the Cross-Listed Index popped 0.29 points to 122.91.
A total of 245,508 shares traded for $1,048,470 down from 1,115,815 units at $7,311,356 on Tuesday.
An average of 13,639 units traded at $58,341 compared to 65,636m at $430,080 on Tuesday. The average trade for the month to date amounts to 34,382 units at $268,706 versus 40,039 units at $326,039. The average trade for June amounts to 45,770 units at $724,497.

Junior market stocks lost grounds

Declining stocks overpowered stocks rising on Tuesday, with an 18 percent fall in the volume of stocks trading compared to Monday, but the market could not stem the pressure placed on prices on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange as it pushed the market index down well below the 3,400 point mark at the close.
Market activity led to 39 securities trading compared to 34 on Monday and ended with 12 rising, 19 declining and eight, closing unchanged.

2021 gains vaporise for JSE US market

Trading on the USD market ended on Tuesday, with the index falling as investors exchanged 178 percent more shares than on Monday at 71 percent less the value, resulting in more stocks falling than rising and the market losing almost all the 17.4 percent gains made up to the end of April, this year when the market hit the year’s peaked at 218.70 points.
Six securities traded, compared to eight on Monday with one rising, three declining and two remaining unchanged.

Slippage for JSE majors on Tuesday

Advancing and declining stocks were almost evenly balanced at the end of market activity on Tuesday, but with rising stocks having the edge after the volume of shares traded and the value fell 14 percent and 26 percent respectively compared to Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on a day of low volume that attracted relatively small sum.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined 1,326.49 points to 463,119.12, the JSE Main Index dropped 3,307.14 points to 423,909.26 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.84 points to 104.29.
Trading ended with 51 stocks, up from 46 on Monday, with 22 rising, 20 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, a measure that determines an appropriate relative value of each stock, averages 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.

Market activity ended mixed on Tuesday after 186 percent more shares with a 129 percent higher value traded than on Monday, resulting in more slightly stocks rising than falling at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.

Junior Market fumbles on Monday

Trading closed on the Junior Market on Monday with the index slipping, as the volume of stocks transferred tumbled 59 percent at 44 percent less the value from Friday’s readings as rising and declining stocks shared the spoils equally.
Overall, 34 securities traded down from 37 on Friday and ended with the prices rising and declining, closing with 14 each as six closed unchanged.

Express Catering rose 5 cents to $6.09, trading 128,661 units, General Accident fell 35 cents to $5.25 in switching ownership of 1,400 stock units, GWest Corporation advanced 10 cents to a 52 weeks’ high of $1.40 with 1,250 shares changing hands. Indies Pharma spiked 47 cents to $3.88 with an exchange of 26,872 stocks, ISP Finance shed $1.03 to close at $21.40 with 1,000 units passing through the market,  Jamaican Teas slipped 5 cents to $4.10 with a transfer of 166,833 stock units. Lasco Distributors lost 22 cents to finish at $4 with 73,010 shares traded, Lasco Financial dipped 5 cents to $3.28 with investors switching ownership of 36,613 stocks, Limners and Bards popped 5 cents to $3.10 with 36,211 units changing hands. Medical Disposables declined by 5 cents to $4.90 with a transfer of 12,792 stock units and Stationery and Office Supplies climbed 20 cents to $8 with 467 shares crossing the exchange.
