Main market stocks collectively barely moved forward on Monday, with declining stocks being out-numbered by advancing ones 2 to1 with 10 stocks rising in the main market versus 5 declining. For the overall market, 32 securities changed hands, in all market segments with 14 rising and 5 declining.
The market closed with 3,842,543 units valued at $52,963,264 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 811,127 units changing hands, valued at $3,604,853.
The JSE Market Index fell 177.07 points to 153,435.78, the all Jamaica Composite Index fell 197.89 points to end at 170,429.43 and the JSE combined index gained 83.78 points to close at 161,971.41.

At the end of the market activities, Berger Paints lost 5 cents and ended with 18,799 shares trading at $3.95, Cable & Wireless closed with a gain of 2 cents at $1.42 with 248,300 units changing hands, Caribbean Cement fell $1 to end at $19 with 49,597 shares trading. Carreras rose 49 cents to close at $64.99, while trading 120 units, Gleaner added 19 cents to close at $2.20 with 47,582 shares changing hands, Grace Kennedy closed with 2,474 shares trading with a gain of 50 cents at $83.50, well below the $97 equivalent, it traded at in Trinidad on Monday. Jamaica Broilers traded 717,457 units to close at $14.50, Jamaica Producers traded 29,000 units to close at $30.50 after gaining 22 cents, JMMB Group had 852,261 units changing hands but fell 9 cents in closing at $10.40, Margaritaville Turks had 45,000 shares trading at 13 US cents. National Commercial Bank lost 3 cents with 388,750 shares changing hands, to close at $41, Proven Investments ordinary share traded 223,936 units and gained 2 US cents in closing at 22 US cents, Radio Jamaica ended with 13,883 units changing hands to close at $3.95. Sagicor Group lost 20 cents with 153,610 shares changing hands at $23, Sagicor Real Estate Fund lost $1 in trading 2,200 shares to close at $10. Scotia Group had only 10,750 shares changing hands to close at $31 and Supreme Ventures closed with a loss of 10 cents at $4.60 with 224,418 units changing hands.

Margaritaville Turks profit up 86%
The Turks and Caicos based Margaritaville Turks, a Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market listed company, reported a big 86 percent jump in profits of US$518,134 in the six months to November last year versus $278,508 in the prior year.
The improved profit came from revenues that climbed 11 percent to $3.376 million. For the quarter ending November, the company reported improved results with net profit of $247,253, a whopping increase of 728 percent over the profit of $33,611 for the same quarter in 2014. Sales revenue for the quarter rose a very strong 24.7 percent to $1.65 million, compared to $1.32 million in 2014. Gross profit grew by 25 percent, slightly faster than sales revenue and for the six months by 10.7 percent.
Administrative expenses rose by 5.3 percent to hit $1.68 million for the six months and for the quarter to November to $829,364 for an increase of 8.7 percent. Management fees fell from $212,614 in 204 for the six months to $125,000 and for the quarter from $92,628 to $62,500. Depreciation charge was essentially flat at $123,748 for the six months and $62,444 for the quarter.
The company generated earnings per share of 0.77 US cents to November and 0.37 US cents for the quarter. IC Insider expects earnings for the full year to May to be around 2 US cents per share. This puts the PE of the stock at a low 5 times current year’s earnings.
Cash flows from operating activities amounted to $642,173 for six months versus $399,202 in 2014 before increase in related party receivables of $1.24 million and $685,495 in 2014 and ended with cash of $24,977. The equity capital stood at of $4.3 million and the company had no borrowed funds.

Main Market| The JSE Market Index lost 103.43 points to 84,734, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 115.64 points to close at 93,454.66 and the JSE combined index declined by 31 points to close at 86,597.73.

In trading, Cable & Wireless traded 3,172,266 shares to close at 52 with a 2 cents gain. Carreras traded 104,311 units to end at $42, Grace Kennedy had 51,721 shares changing hands and lost $1.15, to end at $62.05, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded 1,100,000 units at $3.10. Margaritaville (Turks) had 87,810 units trading at 10 US cents, after the company released nine months’ results to February. National Commercial Bank seemed to have reacted to the announcement of dividend consideration at the board meeting later this month, and traded 105,554 shares, first at $25.50 and then at $26 with a gain of 74 cents for a new 52 weeks’ high. Sagicor Group had 41,700 units changing hands and closed at $10.35 and Scotia Group traded 98,372 units at $22, and Supreme Ventures traded 1,435 units, lost 34 cents to end at $2.50.
JSE up slightly after 1 Hour
A total of 2.64 million shares traded coming from 9 securities after an hours trading on Thursday, with nearly 2 million coming from Cable & Wireless.
National Commercial Bank seemed to have reacted to the announcement of dividend consideration at the board meeting later this month and traded first at $25.50 and then at $26 with 105,554 shares trading. The stock remains scare and could be rising in the days ahead. Grace Kennedy had 46,721 changing hands at $62.05, Scotia Investment traded 76,000 units at $23.01. Lasco Manufacturing traded 352,851 units at $1.13, Margaritaville (Turks) had 68,510 units trading at 10 US cents as the company reported profit of 0.6 US cents per share for the nine months.
The main indices are up over 100 points so far and the junior market is up 7 points to 741.
