The market closed with 35 securities changing hands, accounting for just 3,475,337 units valued at $40,616,397, in all market segments. The junior market had 2,388,762 shares valued at $2,388,762 trading.
Investors pushed the price of 13 stocks in the overall market up, 13 down, including 3 stocks rising and 4 declining, from the junior market. The JSE Market Index moved down by 192.18 points to end at 153,690.27. The all Jamaica Composite Index declined by 214.93 points to close at 170,713.62 and the JSE combined index slipped 54.76 points, to close at 164,532.54.

At the end of market activities, Berger Paints traded with 4,500 shares to close at $4.38, Cable & Wireless fell 5 cents and closed at $1.28 after trading 143,757 units, Carreras dropped $1.49 with 20,051 units trading to close at $64.51, Grace Kennedy traded 100 units to gain $1 and closed at $90. Hardware and Lumber jumped $3.50 to end at $16 as 500 shares changed hands, Jamaica Broilers closed with a fall of 43 cents at $14.21 while trading 3,664 shares, Jamaica Producers traded 10,000 shares at $35, Margaritaville Turks traded 531,220 to end at 20 US cents. National Commercial Bank traded 37,465 shares, to close with a fall of 19 cents at $39.80. Pan Jamaican Investment climbed back $1.70 to close trading at $122.70 but with just 400 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica rose 3 cents in trading 70,612 shares at $1.30, Sagicor Group ended with 71,400 shares changing hands, fell 20 cents, to end at $22.30. Scotia Group closed with a fall of $2.70 to end at $30 while 81,365 units changed hands, Scotia Investments fell $1.09 to $25 with 12,880 shares changing hands, Sterling Investments lost 92 cents and closed at $11.98 with 24,800 shares trading. Supreme Ventures closed at $5 with 16,339 shares changing hands, after falling 29 cents and Proven Investments traded with a gain of 2 US cents to 20 US cents with 49,000 shares trading.

Jamaica Producers traded 2,000 shares at $35, Kingston Wharves loss 13 cents in trading 4,000 stock unit at $11.52, Margaritaville Turks traded just 200 shares and gained 2.5 cents to end at a record 20 US cents, National Commercial Bank traded 10,108 shares, to close with a rise of 14 cents at $39.99. Pan Jamaican Investment pulled back $3.94 to close trading at $121 with 3,969 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica rose 15 cents in trading 33,600 shares at $1.27, Sagicor Group ended with 201,084 shares changing hands, and gained 30 cents, to end at $22.50. Scotia Group closed with a gain of $1.70 to end at $32.70 while 20,246 units changed hands, Seprod lost 50 cents and closed at $17.50 with 21,667 shares trading, Supreme Ventures closed at $5.39 with 41,000 shares changing hands after rising 59 cents and Proven Investments traded at 18 US cents with 21,329 shares.
JSE majors down juniors up
Trading in the early morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, on Tuesday saw the main market being active with stocks trading for 16 minutes before trading took place in the junior market. Trading resulted in the main market indices dropping and the junior market enjoying a moderate bounce.
Three stocks traded more than 100,000 units with Jamaica Broilers with 428,004 shares, Cable & Wireless Jamaica 118,112 units, Ciboney traded 418,270 units at 13 cents, Margaritaville Turks with 301,350 units, Proven Investments had 299,182 units changing hands but the price slipped to 17.05 US cents.
After 75 minutes of trading, on Tuesday, the average volume traded amounts to 70,975 units per active stock, compared to an average of 22,162 units in the mid-morning session on Monday.
Trading resulted in activity in 25 securities, accounting for 1,774,364 shares changing hands as 9 stocks gained and 6 declined.
The market saw the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 986.08 points to 167,326.70, the JSE Market Index fell 881.71 points to 150,661.82, the JSE combined index ended with a fall of 676.76 points to 162,020.85 and the junior market index bounced 13.76 points to 2,170.67.
JSE drops 2,100 points on Monday
At the close of trading, 12 stocks in the overall market gained, 15 declined including 5 stocks rising and 5 declining, from the junior market.
The JSE Market Index dropped 1,890.26 points to end at 151,543.53. The all Jamaica Composite Index dived 2,114.01 points to close at 168,312.78 and the JSE combined index fell 1,649.69 points, to close at 164,347.30.

Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 45 cents to end at $21 while trading 108,346 shares, JMMB Group lost 50 cents in trading 16,326 shares to close at $9.50, Kingston Wharves traded 7,400 shares and gained 15 cents, to close at $11.65, Margaritaville Turks rose 1 US cent in trading 46,700 shares at 17 US cents. National Commercial Bank fell 23 cents while trading 27,361 shares to close at $39.77, Pan Jamaican Investment jumped $3 with 36,922 shares trading at $97, Radio Jamaica traded 366,763 shares and dropped 9 cents, to end at $1.10, Sagicor Group ended with 16,250 shares changing hands with a loss of 31 cents at $22.69. Scotia Group dropped $2.49 to close at $30.50 while 16,127 units changed hands, Scotia Investments ended trading 1,000 shares and gained 80 cents to close at $26, Supreme Ventures fell 8 cents and closed at $5.27 with 15,698 shares changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary share traded 113,178 units at 19 US cents, down from 20 US cents. JMMB 6% US preference share lost 5 cents in trading 50,000 units at US$1.05, JMMB Group 7.5% preference share traded 3,612,600 units at $1.05 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 533,800 units at $2.15.
JSE’s in modest trading early Monday
Trading the Jamaican Stock Exchange is off to another slow start in the Monday morning session with only moderate volumes. A total of 20 securities, accounting for only 1,191,892 shares have changed hands at 10.45 am as 8 stocks gained and 7 declined
The trading session stated off with a change in the name of the Gleaner Company to 1834 Investments Limited, 210,000 units of the stock is offered at $1.78 which is below the last traded price of $2.
After 75 minutes of the market’s opening, Margaritaville Turks traded 526,742 at a new high of 17.9 us cents in continued response to good results for 2015/16 fiscal year.
The main market indices suffered losses but the juniors recorded a small gain as only 4 stocks traded in the segment. The market saw all Jamaica Composite Index falling 601.11 points to 169,442.40, the JSE Market Index fell 537.49 points to 152,553.59 the JSE combined index ending with a loss of 373.17 points to 161,319.36 and the junior market index gained 12.23 points to 1,931.16.
Modest gain for JSE on Thursday
The market closed with 4,035,008 units valued at $62,036,257 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 617,159 units that changing hands, valued at $2,081,398.
The JSE Market Index climbed 313.29 points to end at 153,854.67, the all Jamaica Composite Index jumped 350.11 points to end at 170,897.53 and the JSE combined index lost 59.93 points added, to close at 162,182.52.

Gleaner traded 4,000 shares but lost 9 cents to end at $2, Grace Kennedy gained 50 cents in closing with 5,560 shares changing hands at $82, Jamaica Broilers traded 415,613 units to close with a gain of 52 cents at $14.80, JMMB Group traded 152,023 shares to close at $10 after falling 95 cents. Margaritaville (Turks) traded 273,730 shares to close at 13.5 US cents up from 12.99 cents, Mayberry Investments traded 9,180 shares and lost 10 cents to end at $4.08, National Commercial Bank gained 22 cents with 84,668 shares changing hands to close at $41.25, property company, 138 Student Living gained 24 cents to close at $5.50 while trading 17,000 shares. Pan Jamaican Investments lost $1 in trading 5,435 shares to close at $93, Pulse Investments gained 33 cents to end at $3.23 with 50,000 shares trading, Radio Jamaica traded for the first time after the company split the stock and closed at $1.46, with a loss of 20 cents while trading 34,355 units. Sagicor Group rose by 19 cents while 1,115,716 shares changed hands to end at $23.70, Scotia Group rose 23 cents while trading 405,979 shares to close at $30.62, Scotia Investments climbed $1.04 with 5,000 shares changing hands to end at $29.49. Supreme Ventures lost 1 cent to close at $4.99 with 30,650 units changing hands and JMMB 7.5% preference shares traded 619,293 units to end at $2.15.
