Gleaner280x150Activity picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday and resulted in the prices of 5 stocks rising, 3 declining as 22 securities changed hands, ending with 47,574,512 units trading, valued at $46,962,041, in all market segments as the Gleaner Company posted the largest trade.
Gleaner Company ended with more than 32 million units valued at $27.36 million trading. Broker, Stocks & Securities played a major role in the trade, with all units sold, executed by them as brokers with buying by MVL Stockbrokers for all but 185,000 units. The trades have removed a major overhang of selling from the market but still leave more selling at the closing price and some offers close to the closing price.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index gained 338.21 points to 80,218.87, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 378.14 points to close at 88,406.72 and the JSE combined index gained 297.60points to close at 82,097.57.

Otherwise it was a relatively slow day except that trading picked up in the junior market.

NCB & Scotia push JSE up

In Monday’s trading, the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange climbed sharply, but only 12 securities traded in the market.
