Gleaner’s big trade on JSE

Activity picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday and resulted in the prices of 5 stocks rising, 3 declining as 22 securities changed hands, ending with 47,574,512 units trading, valued at $46,962,041, in all market segments as the Gleaner Company posted the largest trade.
Gleaner Company ended with more than 32 million units valued at $27.36 million trading. Broker, Stocks & Securities played a major role in the trade, with all units sold, executed by them as brokers with buying by MVL Stockbrokers for all but 185,000 units. The trades have removed a major overhang of selling from the market but still leave more selling at the closing price and some offers close to the closing price.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index gained 338.21 points to 80,218.87, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 378.14 points to close at 88,406.72 and the JSE combined index gained 297.60points to close at 82,097.57.

Grace Kennedy closing with 1,286 units changing hands ended with an increase of 51 cents to $60.51, National Commercial Bank finished with 9,350 shares as the price gained 13 cents to end at a new 52 weeks’ high of $22.15, Sagicor Group closing with 13,000 shares to end with an increase of 9 cents to $10.40 and Scotia Group ending with 2,977 shares trading for 20 cents more to $21.
Firm| The stocks in the main market to close without a change in the last traded prices are, Caribbean Cement closing with 10,000 shares trading at $2.85, Carreras ending with 22,192 shares trading at $44.50, Gleaner closing with 32,184,601 shares changing hands at 85 cents. Jamaica Broilers closed with 25,966 shares trading at $4.02, Mayberry Investments had 7,886 units trading at $1.95 and Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed with 3,200 shares changing hands at $6.70.

Declines| The last traded prices of stocks with losses at the end of trading in the main market are, Jamaica Money Market Brokers concluding trading with 579,863 ordinary shares changing hands to close 10 cents lower to $6.90 and Proven Investments ended trading with 9,810 shares trading lower by 0.05 cent to 18 US cents.
Preference| Jamaica Public Service 9.5% preference share traded 881 units at $1,125 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share ended with 1,460,887 shares changing hands to close $2.

JMMB crosses 5M of its shares

JMMB big in house share exchange on Tuesday

Tuesday’s trading closed with Jamaica Money Market Brokers trading more than 5.1 million units with 5 million being a cross of shares within the company, as in house trade but JMMB also sold shares to the public from in house inventory as well. Otherwise it was a relatively slow day except that trading picked up in the junior market.
At the end of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, the prices of 9 stocks rose, 5 declined as 27 securities changed hands, ending in 7,105,912 units trading, valued at $40,386,959, in all market segments.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index lost only 0.09 points to 79,880.66, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index declined by a mere 0.18 points to close at 88,028.58 and the JSE combined index gained 0.69 points to close at 81,799.97.

Declines| The last traded prices of stocks with losses at the end of trading in the main market are, Scotia Group closed with 13,433 shares trading lower by 20 cents to $20.80 and Supreme Ventures in trading 100 units, the price slipped 3 cents to $1.82.
Preference| Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded 15,800 units to end with an increase of 1 cent to $3.04 and Proven Investments 8% preference share traded 135,400 units changing hands to close at $5.

NCB & Scotia push JSE up

In Monday’s trading, the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange climbed sharply, but only 12 securities traded in the market.
At the close bid prices were strongly in support of the market with some slight upward bias. The attached chart shows the bids and offers at the close of the market, with the volumes at the lowest offers and highest bids. The chart provides investors with much more information than has been shown to the public. Investors can get some indication of supply and demand posted in the market with the immediate volumes on the bid to buy or the amounts on offer, at the disclosed prices. What is shown represents only the stocks on offer to sell and the amounts being purchased at the prices shown. IC Insider will now be posting these daily.
In Tuesday’s trading watch Carreras that closed with a bid of $44.51, Grace Kennedy, bid $60 and National Commercial Bank bid of $22.

Scotia Group closed higher at the close & helped to push market up on Monday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange’s combined index rose 1,213 points and the all Jamaica Composite index closed on Monday at the highest level since it closed on July 25 2013, at 88,373.07. The all Jamaican Index is just a little more than 3,300 points from potential resistance at 91,721.24, the January, 2013 high. Gains in mainly, National Commercial Bank and Scotia Group contributed most to the increase. The market closed with the prices of 8 stocks rising, 3 declining as 23 securities changing hands, ending in 2,662,361 units trading, valued at $10,270,385, in all market segments.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index gained 1,383.93 points to 79,880.82, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 1,547.29 points to close at 88,028.76 and the JSE combined index gained 1,212.61 points to close at 81,799.28.

At the close of the market, the Composite Index rose 0.07 points to close at 1,148.94, the All T&T Index fell by just 0.47 points to close at 1,980.31 and the Cross Listed Index increased by 0.08 points to end at 41.58.

WITCO jumps to new high

Trading resumed after the Trinidad Stock Exchange was closed for two days during the carnival celebrations and ended with West Indian Tobacco jumping to close at new high of $125. For the overall market, only 10 securities changed hands of which 2 advanced, 3 declined and 5 traded firm. A total of 155,484 units, valued at $734,542 traded.
At the close of the market, the Composite Index rose 0.95 points to close at 1,147.92, the All T&T Index gained 1.89 points to 1,981.34 and the Cross Listed Index remained at 41.17.
Gains| Stocks increasing in price at the close are, Scotiabank trading 1,500 shares for a 1 cent rally to close at $62.11 and West Indian Tobacco climbing $1.20 to end at a new 52 weeks high, of $125 while trading 2,040 units.
Declines| The stocks declining at the end of trading are, Clico Investment Fund with 2,540 shares and fell 1 cent to $22.50, Guardian Holdings lost 1 cent to end at $13.14, with 400 shares trading and Trinidad Cement suffering a loss of 2 cents, to close at $2.57 while trading 12,450 units.
