The market closed with activity in 41 securities, leading to 16,060,816 units valued at $115,028,197 changing hands, in all market segments. A total of 14 securities rose and 11 declined with 5 stocks ending at 52 weeks’ closing high and 1 at intraday high.
The JSE Market Index rose 466.62 points to 138,363.46, the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 521.47 points to end at 153,585.26 and the JSE combined index increased by 704.78 points to end at 145,062.08.

Jamaica Producers stock price pushed by strong profits on Wednesday

The bulls continue to roam on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday as more stocks continue to gain than those declining. Helping the move on Wednesday was the impact that results had on some companies’ stock price. Sagicor Group and Jamaica Producers Group were two of the stocks that jumped sharply, helping the market to move up.
The market closed with activity in 42 securities, leading to 200,339,489 units valued at $645,488,389 changing hands, in all market segments. A total of 17 securities rose and 11 declined with 11 stocks ending at 52 weeks’ closing high and 1 at intraday high.
The JSE Market Index rose 783.34 points to 137,896.84, the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 875.44 points to end at 153,063.79 and the JSE combined index increased by 639.61 points to end at 144,357.30.

Scotia Group ended with 38,793 shares changing hands and closed with a loss of 10 cents at $26.90, Supreme Ventures ended with 244,452 shares changing hands at $4.70 after rising 10 cents and Proven Investments ordinary share dropped 1.17 US cents and ended at 21.80 US cents with 14,700 units changing hands and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share ended with 51,000 units trading at $2.

The bullishness of Jamaica Stock Exchange pushed the All Jamaican Composite Index beyond the 150,000 mark for the first time to close at more than 152,000 points as more 2,200 points were added on Tuesday as shortage of supply of stocks being sold and increased demand push prices.
The market closed with activity in 42 securities, leading to 13,242,518 units valued at $152,588,837 changing hands, in all market segments. A total of 25 securities rose and 6 declined with 12 stocks ending at 52 weeks’ closing high. The JSE Market Index rose 2,019.69 points to 137,113.50, the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 2,257.11 points to end at 152,188.35 and the JSE combined index surged 2,200.34 points to end at 143,717.69.

Grace grows Q3 profit 7%

Grace HStRevenues for Grace Kennedy rose a strong 14.4 percent in the nine months to September, this year, to $59.7 billion from $52.2 billion generated in the corresponding period of 2014. Profit attributable to owners of the group for the third quarter of 2015 was 7 percent higher than for the similar period last year, reaching $754 million.
Profit declined by $338 million or 14.2 percent for the year to date, compared with the similar period of 2014, moving from $2.38 billion to $2.05 billion.
The earnings per stock unit to September amount to $6.19, down from $7.21 in 2014, for the full year should end around $3.4 billion or $10.30 per share.
“The Group’s performance was in part impacted by the costs associated with the integration of our expanded US Food operations through GraceKennedy Foods (USA), recognition of the total asset tax liability in the first quarter, lower foreign exchange gains and higher finance costs”, Group Chief Executive Officer, Don Wehby and chairman Gordon Shirley said in his report to shareholders.

Segments|The Food Trading segment reported revenue growth of 17 percent over the corresponding period last year but with falling profit of $754 million compared with $1.02 billion in 2014. The distribution businesses in Jamaica, UK, Canada and Belize reported higher profits when compared to prior year, the report stated. “The Banking and Investments segment reported higher profits when compared to the prior period due to growth in First Global Bank’s net interest income and non-interest income. The growth in net interest income was bolstered by year over year growth in loans and deposits of 28 percent and 21 percent respectively. The Insurance segment delivered higher revenue and profits due to the improved underwriting performance of GK General”, the report to shareholders further stated.
“The Money Services segment recorded higher revenues and profits due to higher remittance transactions and increased market share in Jamaica, higher revenues from our cambio operations in Trinidad, and cost containment initiatives implemented by the segment”, Wehby and Shirley stated.
Shareholders’ equity stands at $37.2 billion with book value per share of $112.47. The company will pay a third interim dividend of 90 cents per stock unit on 16th December.
Grace’s shares are listed on the Stock Exchanges of Jamaica and Trinidad and last traded at J$68.11 and TT$3.60 giving it a PE of 6.7 times 2015 earnings leaving room for quite some growth.

Sagicor Group rose 19 cents with 78,700 shares trading, to close at $14.70, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 23,000 units, the price closed at $11, Scotia Group ended with 1,059,827 shares changing hands and closed at $26.20, after rising 21 cents. The stock traded up to $28.50 for an intraday high, Scotia Investments fell $1.50 to close at $26.50 as 10,000 units traded and Supreme Ventures ended with a rise of 32 cents to $4.47 with 50,000 units changing hands.

Cable and Wireless lost further ground on Monday as it shed 35 cents to closed down to 95 cents having traded just 1.46 million units as some selling continues for the stock, but National Commercial Bank hit a new 52 weeks’ high of $36 rising $3.50 in the process.
A total of 37 securities traded leading to 6,392,200 units valued at $48,320,406 hanging hands, in all market segments. A total of 21 securities rose and 10 declined with 6 stocks ended at 52 weeks’ closing highs and 2 at an intraday 52 weeks’ high.
The JSE Market Index shot up 905.92 points to 132,189.96, the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 1,012.42 points to end at 146,686.03. JSE combined index and climbed 1,059.06, points to end at 136,842.10. All Three indices are at new closing highs.
IC bid-offer Indicator At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the <strong> Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator had a reading of 12 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with an offer that was lower.
In trading, Barita Investments ended at a 52 weeks’ closing high, of $2.90 as the price gained 15 cents while 50,000 shares were traded, the stock closed with the bid at $3 to buy 60,000 shares, no stocks were offered at the close. JSE sum 2-11-15Cable and Wireless continued under selling pressure and closed with a loss of 36 cents, with 1,456,839 shares changing hands to end at 94 cents. Trading in the stock was between 94 cents and $1.20 and it closed with a bid at 85 cents, to buy 57,000 shares. On the offer were 800,562 shares at 94 cents. By the close the number of offers increased dramatically and now total 36, ranging up to $3.10, for a total of 9.5 million units down from 10,689,005 units on Friday. Caribbean Cement rose 27 cents to end at $18, with 27,310 shares changing hands. Carreras ended with 5,212 shares trading at $53.05, Desnoes & Geddes had 53,472 units changing hands, to close at $30, Gleaner Company traded 948,928 shares to end at $1.90, Jamaica Broilers traded 145,457 shares to close at $9 as the price gained 12 cents. at $11, JMMB Group traded 172,798 shares to close with a rise of 34 cents to end at $9.85. Kingston Wharves traded 13,193 units to close at $10.60 for a new 52 weeks’ high, Mayberry Investments rose 2 cents to end at $4.02, by trading 38,701 shares. National Commercial Bank with 14,604 shares changing hands jumped $3.50 to end at $36, for a new 52 weeks’ high. JSE Fn Qts 2-11-15Pan Jamaican traded 9,124 shares to end $4.88 cents higher, at $85, Radio Jamaica closed at a new 52 weeks’ high of $4.50 to gain 50 cents in trading 31,200 shares. Sagicor Group fell 15 cents with 102,492 shares trading, to close at $14.51, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 69,495 units, the price closed down 60 cents at $11, Scotia Group ended with 11,923 shares changing hands and closed at $26.17, after falling by 81 cents. Scotia Investments gained 50 cents to close at $28 as 936,435 units traded, Supreme Ventures ended at $4.20 with 581,769 units changing hands and Proven Investments ordinary share, closed with a fall of 0.9 US cents, with 24,650 units traded, to end at 23 US cents.
