The volume of stocks trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Exchange plunged on Thursday by 71 percent compared to Wednesday as the number of securities trading fell by nearly a half leading to a 56 percent decline in the value changing hands.
The market closed with nine securities trading, down from sixteen on Wednesday, and ended with two stocks advancing, three declining and four remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 129,140 shares for $2,841,182 compared to 444,318 shares valued $6,527,739 on Wednesday.
The average trade amounts to 14,349 units at $315,687 versus an average of 27,770 units at $407,984 for each security on Wednesday. Month to date averaged 16,334 shares at $305,410 compared to 16,972 units at $302,107 on Wednesday. November closed with an average of 12,529 shares for $181,770.
The T&T Composite Index lost 031 points to close at 1,296.30, the All T&T Index shed 0.62 points to 1,728.39, while the Cross Listed Index remained unchanged at 116.85.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and five with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Guardian Holdings rose 60 cents to close at $21, exchanging 36,448 shares and West Indian Tobacco gained 28 cents to end at $33.50, after trading 52,205 shares.
Stocks declining│Calypso Macro Index Fund lost 5 cents exchanging 500 units to settle at $14, National Enterprises finished 20 cents lower at a 52 weeks’ low of $3, in trading 7,000 stock units and Republic Financial Holdings was down 2 cents in closing at $133.01, after transferring 265 units.
Stocks trading firm│ Clico Investment Fund traded 8,170 stock units at $25.50, JMMB Group held firm at $1.80, with 8,224 stock units crossing the market, L.J. Williams B share closed at $1.39 trading 5,000 stock units and One Caribbean Media exchanged 11,328 shares at $4.80.

Point Lisas ended at $3.12, after gaining 12 cents and trading 2,000 units, Scotiabank rose $1 to $55, after transferring 20,327 stock units, Trinidad and Tobago NGL advanced by $1.38 to $15.88, with 77,461 shares changing hands and West Indian Tobacco closed 72 cents higher at $33.22, in trading 42,543 shares.

Trinidad and Tobago NGL closed at a 52 weeks’ lows of $14.50, after losing 10 cents trading 10,145 stock units and Unilever Caribbean lost 9 cents to finish at a 52 weeks’ low of $16.70, with 299 units changing hands.
Stocks declining│ Prestige Holdings shed 25 cents to $7.25, with an exchange of 25 units and Republic Financial Holdings slipped 1 cent trading 22 units to finish at $135.99.
One Caribbean Media lost 3 cents trading 2,000 units to close at $4.82, Republic Financial Holdings declined by $2.50 to settle at $136, in transferring 1,390 units. Scotiabank slipped 25 cents to $54, in exchanging 10,000 stock units, Trinidad and Tobago NGL lost 50 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $14.50 trading 3,310 units and West Indian Tobacco fell 94 cents to $32.50, with 3,959 units changing hands.
First Citizens Bank fell 25 cents to $43.25, trading 2,694 stock units. JMMB Group lost 3 cents to close at $1.72, with an exchange of 340,668 shares, National Enterprises lost 1 cent to finish at $3.39 and exchanging 1,000 units and Unilever Caribbean ended at $16.79, after losing 1 cent trading 100 shares.
