Market activity slumped on the Trinidad and Tobago Exchange after just 12 securities trading down from seventeen on Thursday and resulting in an exchange of 42 percent fewer shares valued 60 percent trading lower than Thursday, with the main market indices ending mixed after four days of unbroken gains.
The market closed, with five stocks rising, three declining and four remaining unchanged and ended with 49,633 shares changing hands for $833,139 compared to 86,128 shares for $2,084,034 on Thursday.
The average trade amounts to 4,136 units at $69,428 versus an average of 5,072 units at $122,590 for each security on Thursday. Month to date averaged 17,235 shares at $25,512 compared to 18,691 shares for $276,188 on Thursday. November closed with an average of 12,529 units at $181,770.
The T&T Composite Index fell by 0.28 points to 1,300.33, the All T&T Index added 0.46 points to 1,740.11, while the Cross Listed Index lost 0.14 points to close at 116.33.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of five stocks higher than their last selling prices and five with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Clico Investment gained 25 cents to close at $25.25, with an exchange of 580 units, First Citizens Bank climbed $1.98 to $43, in transferring 182 units, Guardian Holdings rose 50 cents to $21, with 1,353 units changing hands. Prestige Holdings gained 30 cents, trading 8,872 stock units to settle at $7.50 and Trinidad and Tobago NGL added 49 cents to end at $16.50 in exchanging 11,502 shares.
Stocks declining│ Grace Kennedy dipped 9 cents to $3.61 trading 13,779 shares, Massy Holdings, fell by $1 to $57, with an exchange of 100 units and One Caribbean Media lost 5 cents transferring 3,525 units to finish at $4.75.
Stocks trading firm│ Ansa McAL traded 1,400 units at $53.50, First Caribbean International Bank closed at $7.05, with a transfer of 421 units, Scotiabank exchanged 5,079 stock units at $55.49 and West Indian Tobacco held firm at $35.40, with 2,840 units crossing the exchange.
