Mild rebound for Junior Market

Trading picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market on Thursday and leading to a rise in the Market index and breaking five consecutive days of decline, with the volume of stocks traded rising 183 percent and the value 119 percent more than on Wednesday and leaving declining stocks just ahead of those increasing, at the close.
Like Wednesday, all but one of the 45 listed securities traded on Thursday, with 15 rising, 17 declining and 12 closing unchanged. The Junior Market Index gained 25.36 points to 4,361.52.

A total of 18,169,661 shares traded for $63,184,225 compared to 6,419,876 units at $28,806,239 on the Wednesday. Trading averaged 412,947 shares at $1,436,005 up from 145,906 shares at $654,687 on Wednesday, with month to date, averaging 442,970 units at $1,916,895 compared to 445,304 units at $1,954,279 on the previous trading day. April closed with an average of 449,923 units at $1,781,786.
Derrimon Trading led market activity, with 11.56 million shares for 63.6 percent of total volume, followed by Lumber Depot with 1.91 million units for 10.5 percent of the day’s trade and Tropical Battery with 937,196 units for 5.2 percent market share.

At the close, CAC 2000 fell $1.21 in closing at $6.25, with 1,917 shares crossing the market, Caribbean Cream gained 24 cents to close at $5.17 while exchanging 82 stock units, Dolphin Cove climbed 61 cents to end at $20.11 after 19,815 units changed hands. Everything Fresh increased 10 cents to $1.60 after exchanging 8,702 stocks, Express Catering shed 10 cents in ending at $5.90 after trading 24,213 shares, Fontana declined 20 cents to $10.30, with 33,181 units crossing the market. Fosrich lost 30 cents to end at $28 in trading 140,251 stock units, General Accident dropped 10 cents in ending at $5.90, with 13,319 stocks crossing the exchange, Jetcon Corporation advanced 10 cents in closing at $1.55 after trading 29,805 stock units. Lumber Depot rallied 22 cents to close at $3.50 in switching ownership of 1,911,005 shares, Mailpac Group rose 20 cents to $2.95, with 166,653 stocks clearing the market, Medical Disposables dropped 43 cents in closing at $7.96 with an exchange of 64,569 units and Tropical Battery popped 14 cents to end at $2.75 with the swapping of 937,196 shares.

Trading falls on Trinidad and Tobago exchange

Market activity ended on Thursday, at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, with the number of securities changing hands falling to 15 securities from 20 on Wednesday and leading to a 78 percent fall in the volume of stocks traded, with a 67 percent lower value than on Wednesday.
The price of one stock rose, seven declined and seven remained unchanged. The Composite Index fell 6.95 points to 1,414.13, the All T&T Index shed 10.57 points to close at 2,047.09 and the Cross-Listed Index fell 0.43 points to settle at 103.16.
A total of 421,946 shares traded for $3,986,805 versus 1,959,307 units at $11,939,308 on Wednesday. An average of 28,130 units traded at $265,787 compared to 97,965 shares at $596,965 on the previous day, with trading month to date averaging 42,520 units at $453,575 versus 45,181 units at $482,282. The average trade for April amounts to 43,127 units at $458,871.

Trinidad Cement fell 10 cents to end at $3.50 with an exchange of 850 stock units, Unilever Caribbean finished at $16.50 trading 24,114 units and West Indian Tobacco dropped 50 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $23, with 15,578 shares changing hands.

Sellers pressure JSE Main Market stocks

Stocks mostly dropped in prices at the end of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 26 percent from that on Tuesday, with a slightly higher value.  
The All Jamaican Composite Index sank 5,169.29 points to 449,757.41, the JSE Main Index dropped 4,912.09  points to close at 391,568.41 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.48 points to settle at 93.43. Trading ended with 53 securities down from 57 on Tuesday, with ten rising, 30 declining and 13 ending unchanged.
Overall, 12,251,051 shares were exchanged for $339,534,037 versus 16,623,237 units at $309,172,008 on Tuesday.
Trading averages 231,152 units at $6,406,303, compared to 291,636 shares at $5,424,070 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 241,868 units at $4,528,727, compared to 242,352 units at $4,374,792 on the previous trading day. The trade for April averaged 532,209 units at $5,709,319.
Eppley Caribbean Property Fund led trading with 2.46 million shares for 20.1 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 1.78 million units for 14.5 percent of the day’s trade. Transjamaican Highway ended with 1.77 million units for 14.4 percent market share and Massy Holdings with 1.01 million units for 8.2 percent of traded shares.

Many more stocks rose than fell Tuesday

More than 56 percent of stocks trading on Tuesday rose, beating out those declining by a wide margin, but did not prevent the market indices from slipping at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with the volume of stocks traded rising 19 percent and the value up 37 percent over Monday.
Trading ended with 57 securities compared to 56 on Monday, with 32 rising, 20 declining and five ending unchanged.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 1,610.72 points to 454,926.70, the JSE Main Index 1,340.20 points to close at 396,480.50 and the JSE Financial Index fell 0.81 points to  93.91.

More fall for Junior market

Trading closed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market Tuesday, with the volume of stocks changing hands declining by 38 percent and the value falling 35 percent from Monday’s trades as investors’ interest in buying stocks waned, sending the market into further decline for the week to date.
Market activity led to 43 securities trading, down from 45 on Monday and ended with 15 rising, 19 declining and nine closing unchanged.

An avalanche of falling stocks in Trinidad

Market activity ended on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 33 percent, with the value down sharply by 81 percent compared to Monday.
As the case on Monday, 22 securities traded on Tuesday, with six rising, 12 declining and four remaining unchanged as two stocks traded at 52 weeks’ lows. The Composite Index fell 7.46 points to 1,419.74, the All T&T Index dipped 10.03 points to 2,050.76 and the Cross-Listed Index lost 0.66 points to settle at 104.24.
A total of 421,104 shares traded for $5,235,115 compared to 623,867 units at $28,183,997 on Monday.
An average of 19,141 units traded at $238,869, down from 28,358 shares at $1,281,091 on Monday, with trading month to date averaging 40,316 units at $471,712 versus 51,687 units at $378,356 on the previous trading day. Trading in April averaged 43,127 units at $458,871.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows five stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and none with a lower offer.
