JSE USD Market extends 2022 gains to14%

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Friday with the volume of stocks exchanged rising 335 percent and valued 225 percent more than on Thursday, resulting in five securities trading, compared to seven on Thursday with one rising, two declining and two ending unchanged, resulting in the JSE US Denominated Equities Index gaining 1.25 points to end at 222.51, up 13.8 percent year to date.
Overall, 358,034 shares were exchanged for US$26,938 compared to 82,254 units at US$8,280 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 71,607 shares at US$5,388, up from 11,751 stock units at US$1,183 on Thursday, with a month to date average of 18,864 shares at US$1,769 versus 11,737 units at US$1,280 on the previous day. September ended with an average of 87,926 shares for US$4,746.

Stocks decline in Trinidad and Tobago

Market activity ended on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 60 percent with the value 81 percent less than Thursday, resulting in 19 securities traded compared with 17 on Thursday, with three stocks rising, nine declining and seven remaining unchanged.
A total of 191,537 shares were exchanged for $1,184,430 down from 477,639 shares at $6,128,764 on Thursday. 
An average of 10,081 units were traded at $62,338 compared to 28,096 shares at $360,516 on Thursday, with trading month to date averaging 15,150 shares at $199,851 versus 16,632 units at $240,047 on the previous day. The average trade for September amounts to 45,817 at $463,533.
The Composite Index fell 2.45 points to 1,341.42, the All T&T Index dropped 7.90 points to 1,998.97 and the Cross-Listed Index climbed 0.47 points to settle at 89.28.

JSE Main Market bounces

Main Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday resulted in the volume of stocks trading declining 33 percent having a 35 percent lower than on Wednesday, with 57 securities trading as well the case Wednesday, with 25 rising, 23 declining and nine ending unchanged.
A total of 7,234,916 shares were exchanged for $93,435,121, down from 10,739,673 units at $143,425,088 on Wednesday.
Trading on Thursday averaged 126,928 units at $1,639,213 versus 188,415 shares at $2,516,230 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 160,448 units at $2,256,450 compared to 171,366 units at $2,457,494 on the previous day. September closed with an average of 533,719 units at $5,494,282.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 1.31 million shares for 18.1 percent of total volume followed by QWI Investments with 943,497 units for 13 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 926,808 units for 12.8 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rose 3,348.14 points to 408,553.26, the JSE Main Index increased 2,003.26 points to 357,015.40 and the JSE Financial Index popped 0.77 points to settle at 86.03.

The volume of stocks exchanged by investors on Thursday climbed 180 percent on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market but at 28 percent lower value than on Wednesday, resulting in movement in seven securities, compared to 10 on Wednesday with four rising, one declining and two ending unchanged.
A total of 82,254 shares were exchanged for US$8,280 compared to 29,412 units at US$11,534 on Wednesday. Trading averaged 11,751 units at US$1,183 versus 2,941 shares at US$1,153 on Wednesday, with a month to date average of 11,737 shares at US$1,280 in line with the 11,733 units at US$1,303 on the previous day. September ended with an average of 87,926 units for US$4,746.

Big surge for Junior Market

Junior Market trading climbed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded rising just 8 percent over Wednesday’s trade, with 31 percent more value, following movement in 40 securities versus 42 on Wednesday and ending with 14 rising, 16 declining and 10 closing unchanged and ended with the Junior Market Index jumping 70.28 points to 4,196.47.
A total of 14,203,408 shares were exchanged for $56,275,455 compared to 13,198,946 units at $42,970,729 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 355,085 shares at $1,406,886 versus 314,261 units at $1,023,113 on Wednesday with the month to date, averaging 360,647 units at $1,302,347 compared to 362,333 stock units at $1,270,669 on the previous trading day. September closed with an average of 470,099 units at $1,578,447.
Fosrich led trading with 8.94 million shares for 62.9 percent of total volume, followed by Spur Tree Spices with 1.07 million units for 7.5 percent of the day’s trade and EduFocal ended trading 752,660 units for 5.3 percent market share.

Investors plunked down more money in trading activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday and exchanged 40 percent more stocks with a 136 percent more value than Tuesday, with 57 securities trading compared to 59 on Tuesday, resulting in 23 rising, 21 declining and 13 ending unchanged.
A total of 10,739,673 shares were exchanged for $143,425,088, up from 7,679,692 units at $60,706,599 on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s trading averages 188,415 units at $2,516,230 compared with 130,164 shares at $1,028,925 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 171,366 units at $2,457,494 compared to 163,130 units at $2,429,121 on the previous day. September closed with an average of 533,719 units at $5,494,282.
JMMB Group led trading with 2.25 million shares for 21 percent of the day’s volume, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 2.22 million units for 20.7 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Windfarm with 2.06 million units for 19.2 percent of market share.
