Rising JSE stocks outpace decliners Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange saw low activity with only 24 securities trading, the volume increased sharply from recent trading days with Cable and Wireless trading almost 11 million shares and Ciboney with just over 4 million units than on Thursday. At the close there were 11 stocks rising to 4 declining. The market closed with 24 totalling 18,198,760 units, valued at $28,814,733 changing hands traded in all market segments.
The main market indices enjoyed a second day of increases with the JSE Market Index gained 89.23 points to 95,827.25, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index added 99.71 points to 106,048.63 and the JSE combined index rose 167.49 points to end at 99,045.89.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator had a reading of 16 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 8 with offers that were lower. JSE Sum -24- 9-15
This is an indication that while there is buying interest above current prices for a large number of stocks, there are still a noticeable number of stocks that investors want to be out of, at lower prices, than the last selling price.
Stocks that particularly weak are Hardware and Lumber with a last sale of $13 now being offered at $11.50. Grace Kennedy reported earlier in the year that they were considering an offer for this subsidiary at a maximum price of $18.50 and that the deal should be closed by the end of July. To date there has been no further information on the buy out offer, even as the July deadline is long past. Sterling Investments with a last sale of $13.40, now have on offer at $13.15, 242,600 units and no bids to buy.
Trading in the main market ended with Berger Paints trading 20,000 shares at $2.28, Cable and Wireless slipped 1 cent with 10,774,000 shares changing hands, to close at 49 cents. At the close the stock had 1,122,637 units on the bid at 48 cents and 172,996 units on offer at 51 cents. Carreras traded 224,067 shares at $49.50 while gaining 50 cents, Ciboney Group with 4,365,250 shares at 9 cents, Desnoes & Geddes ended with 135,000 shares trading with a 35 cents gain to close at $6.50, Jamaica Broilers had 35,930 units trading at $6.09, JMMB Group traded at $7.63 with 10,984 shares changing ownership. JSE fn qts 24-9-15 Mayberry Investments had 160,100 shares trading at $2.80, National Commercial Bank had 81,100 units changing hands and ended at $27.76 while losing just 1 cent, Sagicor Group with 80,000 shares trading, closed 1 cent higher at $12.82, Scotia Group traded 52,000 shares to close with a rise of 2 cents to $23.77. Scotia Investments traded 10,110 shares in closing at $24.53 with a gain of 1 cent, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share 313,046 units at $2 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share 1,841,065 units at $2.50 fo a rise of 1 cent.

Juniors up majors down Thursday trading

Activity fell on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday morning, resulted in 19 securities trading changing hands at 11amwith a big increase in volume of 17,,066,415 units, with 3 stocks declining and 9 rising.
JSE Intra 24- 09-15Trading activity resulted in declines to the indices with the JSE Market Index falling 206.11 points to 95,531.91. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index down 230.35 points to 105,718.57 and the JSE combined index slipped 108.03 points to be at 98,770.37 and the junior market is up 9.69 points to 960.17.
The main trades are Cable & Wireless with 10,774,000 units at 49 cents, Ciboney Group with 4,365,250 shares at 9 cents, National Commercial Bank traded 80,100 at $27.56, Scotia Group with 52,000 shares at $23.77, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share 313,046 units at $2 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share 1,341,065 units at $2.50.

JSE slips slightly at close Monday

JSE The Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday closed with main market indices undergoing small losses. The Jamaica stock market closed with 8 stocks rising, 12 declining as 28 securities changed hands with 3,402,118 units trading, valued at $40,255,758, in all market segments.
At the close, the JSE Market Index dropped 80.85 points to 100,727.82, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index shed 90.37 points to close at 111,525.61 and the JSE combined index dipped 54.59 points to end at 104,309.22.

Hardware & Lumber ended up at $16, after adding $1 with 13,500 units changing hands. Jamaica Producers traded at $19 with 100,000 shares changing ownership. JSE fn Qts-17-08-15JMMB Group traded 12,000 shares up to $7.99 to gain 19 cents, with the company reporting strong increase in profit for the first quarter, National Commercial Bank traded 99,530 shares at $30 while losing 10 cents. Pulse Investments lost 10 cents in trading 57,000 shares to end at 35 cents, Radio Jamaica traded 27,440 shares to end at $4, with a gain of 5 cents, Sagicor Group ended trading with 1,770,848 units at $13, Sagicor Real Estate Fund lost 20 cents to close at $8.10 while trading 23,990 units. Scotia Group did not trade but had a bid at $24.51 that is higher than the last selling price of $24 and Scotia Investments traded 9,157 with decline of 69 cents to $27.30.

Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed at $8.30 while trading 27,548 units, Scotia Group lost 45 cents and ended with 61,898 units trading at $26, and Supreme Ventures traded 27,997 shares at $4 after shedding 50 cents and Proven Investments 8% preference ended at a new 52 weeks’ low of $4.96 with 418,000 units changing hands after losing 2 cents.

Proven Investments closed at 17.5 US cents after falling 0.50 US cents with 200,000 shares, Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed at $8.30 while trading 295,742 units, Scotia Group gained 44 cents and ended with 109,216 units trading at $26.45, Scotia Investments ended with 15,000 shares changing hands at $27.99, up 99 cents and Supreme Ventures traded 1,974,455 shares at $4.50, a new all-time high by adding 92 cents.

Barita Investments traded 6.7 million units valued at $14.37 million with 4 million units being a crossed by Barita investments and Mayberry Investments picking just about all of the rest.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index gained 1,258.19 points to 96,752.04, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 1,406.71 points to close at 106,891.56 and the JSE combined index put on 1,082.65 points to close at 98,682.46. The All Jamaica Index is now at the highest level since November 10, 2011.

Sagicor Group closed with 24,900 shares and fell 34 cents, to $11.86, Scotia Group had 52,719 shares trading, with the price ending unchanged at $25, Scotia Investments finished trading with 2,285 shares with a gain of 22 cents, to $24.50. Supreme Ventures closed with 120,624 units trading for 30 cents lower at $3.60, Proven Investments concluded trading with 97,144 ordinary shares at 21 US cents, after gaining moderately. IC Insider has confirmed that the company along with National Commercial Bank will be acquiring around 36 percent of Guardian Holdings a Trinidad Based Life assurance company. Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded with 87,000 shares at $2.10 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded closing with 45,000 units changing hands at $3.

Moderate trading on Wednesday so far

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday morning resulted in a few noticeable trades, JSE intra 22-5-15as the market with 3.55 million units trading, coming form 9 securities but with none from the junior market.
The all Jamaica composite index rose just over 100 points and the Jamaica Stock Exchange index gained just under 100 points. Some of the stocks to trade are Ciboney Group with 2 million shares at 6 cents, JMMB Group with 795,353 at 7.10, Radio Jamaica with 13,372 at $2 with a 25 cents gain, Sagicor Group with 19,850 units at $10.75 as the price rose by 25 cents and Sagicor Real Estate X Fund 465,229 units at $6.55.
