Banks push TTSE index higher

First Citizens rose $3 on Wednesday.

Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange registered a bounce on Wednesday with First Citizens Bank jumping $3 and heavyweight Republic Financial Holdings put in a gain of 30 cents on a day with three stocks rising and four declining and five ending with prices unchanged.
The T&T Composite Index advanced 7.76 points to 1,269.46. The All T&T Index soared 13.91 points to 1,701.51, while the Cross Listed Index gained 0.21 points to 113.23.
The market closed with twelve securities trading, leading to 225,594 shares valued at $2,886,944 crossing the exchange, compared to 222,052 shares for $3,973,067 on Tuesday.
IC bid-offer Indicator The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of five stocks higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
Gainers│ First Citizens Bank climbed $3 to $45, with an exchange of 12,373 stock units, NCB Financial gained 5 cents trading 81,540 shares and closed at $7.50 and Republic Financial Holdings finished 30 cents higher at $132.50 exchanging 1,173 units.
Losers│ Clico Investments ended at $23.75, with a loss of 25 cents in transferring 114 units, L.J Williams B share shed 12 cents to settle at $1.50, in trading 2,000 units. One Caribbean Media lost 1 cent exchanging 100 units and closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.99 and Trinidad and Tobago NGL finished 7 cents lower at $16.80, with 8,907 stock units crossing the market.
Firm Trades│ Angostura Holdings closed at $14 trading 1,714 units, Guardian Holdings held firm at $18 with an exchange of 2,275 units, JMMB Group swapped 3,125 stock units at $1.95. Point Lisas transferred 5,000 stock units at $3.45 and West Indian Tobacco remained at $31.40, with 22,722 shares changing hands.

Rising stocks dominate Junior Market

The number of securities advancing far outnumbering those declining on Wednesday in trading on the Junior Market, but the Index slipped 1.15 points to close at 2,464.04. At the conclusion of market activities, the prices of 21 securities advanced, 6 declined and 6 remained unchanged.
Trading closed with 33 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 3,008,593 units valued at $9,244,861 compared to 4,739,302 units valued at $9,995,916 from 32 securities on Tuesday. The average PE ratio of the Junior Market ended at 9 based on 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with an average of 91,169 units at $280,147 for each security traded in contrast to 148,103 units for an average of $312,372 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 133,330 valued at $367,276 and previously 139,654 units valued at 380,345. In contrast, April closed with an average of 447,863 units valued at $1,028,076 for each security traded.

Everything Fresh ended the day rising 12 cents to 82 cents after investors switched ownership of 19,950 shares, Express Catering jumped 11 cents and exchanged 2,819 shares to finish at $3.51, Fontana closed 3 cents higher at $5.48 with 74,481 units traded. Fosrich ended with a loss of 1 cent at $3.79 with 2,314 shares changing hands, General Accident rose 26 cents in exchanging 630,068 stock units to close at $5, Honey Bun rose 6 cents to $5.55 with 7,596 shares trading. iCreate closed 2 cents higher at 44 cents with 25,000 stock units switching owners, Indies Pharma climbed 5 cents and exchanged 42,298 shares to settle at $2.30, Jetcon declined by 9 cents to settle at 80 cents with 33,915 units crossing the market. Knutsford Express exchanged 9,900 shares to finish at $7.50 after falling $1.47, Lasco Distributors closed trading of 76,558 units and gained 15 cents to end at $3.25, Lasco Financial gained 10 cents to close at $2.70 with an exchange of 7,707 shares. Junior Market climbs 46 points – Tuesday

After posting a moderate decline on Monday the Junior Market followed up Fridays good 50.7 points rise with another solid rally on Tuesday with the market index jumping 45.91 points to close at 2,465.19 resulting from a rise in the prices of 15 securities and a fall in the prices of 11 stocks while six remained unchanged.

Junior Market had a month of consolidation but maybe setting to breakout.

The day’s activities ended with 32 securities changing hands similar to the number on Monday, resulting in an exchange of 4,739,302 units at $9,995,916 compared to 3,532,717 units valued at $11,173,927, on Monday.
Trading closed with an average of 148,103 units for $312,372 for each security traded in contrast to 110,397 units at $349,185 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 139,654 units valued at 380,345 and previously 138,216 valued at $391,915. In contrast, April closed with an average of 447,863 units valued at $1,028,076 for each security traded.

Knutsford Express leaped $1.33 in the trading just 150 units to finish at $8.97, Lasco Distributors closed 11 cents lower at $3.10 with 15,957 stock units crossed the exchange, Lasco Manufacturing added 13 cents after an exchange of 3,131 shares to end at $3.98. Limners and Bards dropped 15 cents in trading 24,385 units to end at $1.80, Investors responded strongly to strong increased revenues and profit at Mailpac Group by moving the price higher by 4 cents to $1.89 in exchanging 2,498,396 shares, Main Event slid 39 cents in swapping 1,817 units to settle at $4.50. Medical Disposables lost 5 cents trading 20,204 units to close at $6.20 and Stationery and Office Supplies rose 5 cents to $6.20 with 16,906 stock units crossing the exchange.

No rising JSE US$ stocks – Tuesday

The JSE US Market resulted in a lower number of companies trading on Tuesday that delivered a higher turnout of volume and value of stocks crossing through the market.
Market activity saw investors exchanging just three securities, two of which declined and one closed unchanged. Trading resulted in 1,096,566 units with a value of US$45,400 changing hands, in contrast to 69,985 units for US$12,007 on Monday.
At the close, the market index fell by 3.17 points to 189.45. The PE ratio of the market closed with an average of 12.9 times 2020 earnings.
Proven Investments exchanged 42,566 shares at 23 US cents, Trans Jamaican Highway lost 0.1 of a cent to end at 0.94 US cents, in trading 1,040,000 shares and JMMB Group 5.75% preference share shed 15 cents to close at US$1.85, with 14,000 units changing hands.

JSE Main market rolls on up

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange stretched the unbroken run into its sixth day, with modest gains in the market indices on Tuesday, but the market is still more than 26 percent adrift from the 2020 opening position.
At the close of the market, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,038.41 points to 412,412.95, the JSE Market Index added 828.05 points to close at 375,776.02 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.14 points to 100.97.
The market closed with 43 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 23 stocks advancing, 8 declining and 12 securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 40 securities accounting for 10,234,687 units valued at $74,845,819, down from 13,635,712 units valued at $96,460,473 from 44 securities on Monday.
Trans Jamaican Highway led trading with 4.9 million shares for 48 percent of total main market volume followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.7 million units for 16.2 percent of the day’s trade and Trans Jamaican Highway US$ with 1 million units for 10 percent of the market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 255,867 units at $1,871,145 for each security traded, down from 309,903 units valued at an average of $2,192,283 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 327,294 units valued at $2,813,578 for each security changing hands, compared to 336,031 units with an average of $2,945,387. Trading in April resulted in an average of 1,077,021 units valued at $3,829,201 for each security.

MPC Caribbean Clean Energy dropped $25.50 to close at $150, in swapping 666 units, NCB Financial Group closed $4 higher at $149.01, after transferring 76,046 shares, 138 Student Living rose 40 cents to settle at $6.45, in trading a mere 28 units. Pan Jam Investment gained 30 cents to settle at $78, with 115,267 shares changing hands, Sagicor Group closed 49 cents higher trading 152,383 shares to finish at $45.99, Sagicor Real Estate Fund ended the day with gains of $1.44 to hit $7.94, in swapping 250 units. Salada Foods advanced $1 to $30, in transferring 354 units, Scotia Group closed at $48, with gains of $1 after an exchange of 14,705 stock units, Seprod traded $1.50 higher at $49 with 19,359 units changing hands. Sygnus Credit Investments ended at $17.48, after rising $1.28 and trading 80,501 shares and Wisynco Group rose 37 cents to close at $17.90, with 560,921 shares crossing the exchange.

More cash chased TTSE stocks – Tuesday

The volume of stocks trading dropped on Tuesday, but the more important measure, the value of stocks changing hands rose over Monday’s levels as the prices of most stocks declined compared to those increasing.
At the close of the market, the T&T Composite Index gained 3.33 points to close at 1,261.70. The All T&T Index advanced 9.02 points to 1,687.60, while the Cross Listed Index pulled back 0.33 points to 113.02.
Investors exchanged eleven securities while driving the prices of three stocks higher and pushed down prices of five and left three unchanged. The volume of stocks passing through the market amounted to 222,052 shares at $3,973,067 compared to 357,881 shares for $2,297,587 on Monday.

Firm Trades│ Clico investments traded 7,820 stock units at $24. Guardian Holdings exchanged 133,783 shares at $18 and National Enterprises was unchanged at $4.15, with 1,195 units crossing the market.

Junior Market closed with 19 winners

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Monday with 32 securities changing hands and the prices of 19 securities rising, six stocks declining, seven remained unchanged, leaving the Junior Market Index to slip 1.20 points to 2,419.28.

Main Market pushes higher on Monday

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed higher for the fifth consecutive days, but investors failed to push the majority of stocks with price changes, higher at the close.
The market closed with 48 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 14 stocks rising, 17 declining and 17 securities trading unchanged. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index ended 830.48 points higher at 411,374.54, the JSE Market Index added 751.79 points to close at 374,947.97 and the JSE Financial Index inched 0.16 points higher to 100.83.
The JSE Main Market activity ended with 44 securities changing hands, accounting for 13,635,712 units valued at $96,460,473, down from 15,759,687 units at $268,967,167, from 40 securities on Friday.
Trans Jamaican Highway led trading with 5.6 million shares for 41 percent of total volume followed by Wisynco Group with 1.85 million units for 13.6 percent of the day’s trade and Pulse Investments with 1.6 million units for 11.5 percent market share. Other stocks trading more than one million units were Supreme Ventures with 1 million shares and Wigton Windfarm with 1.5 million units.
The Market closed with an average of 309,903 units at $2,192,283 for each security traded, in contrast to 393,992 units, valued at an average of $6,724,179 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 336,031 units valued at $2,945,387 for each security changing hands, compared to 340,094 units with an average value of $3,082,315. Trading in April resulted in an average of 1,077,021 units valued at $3,829,201 for each security.

Mayberry Investments picked up 42 cents trading 8,200 units to end at $5.75, Mayberry Jamaican Equities closed $1.10 higher at $11, with 26,000 shares crossing the exchange, NCB Financial Group fell 49 cents to settle at $145.01, in transferring 85,741 shares. 138 Student Living shed 45 cents swapping 16,048 units and closed at $6.05, Palace Amusement fell by $50 to $1,400, with 93 units changing hands, Sagicor Real Estate Fund ended $1.45 lower at $6.50, after transferring 10,367 units. Scotia Group closed at $47, with a loss of 99 cents exchanging 8,863 units, Seprod jumped $3.49 in trading 70,599 shares at $47.50 after the company reported first quarter profits that doubled that of last year and Sygnus Credit Investments fell 73 cents to end at $16.20, with 4,189 units changing hands.

Low trading for JSE US$ stocks

Trading remained subdued on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market on Monday, resulting in just four securities changing hands, with one stock rising and three unchanged.
At the close, the market Index gained 3.93 points to end at 192.62 and the PE ratio closed with an average of 13.1 times 2020 earnings.
Investors exchanged just 69,985 units valued US$12,007, down from 95,096 units for US$15,597 trading on Friday.
First Rock Capital traded 2,120 units at 8 US cents, Proven Investments ended at 23 US cents, with an exchange of 49,841 shares, Sygnus Credit Investments traded 1,519 units at 13 US cents and Trans Jamaican Highway added 0.1 of a cent to settle at one US cent with 16,505 stock units changing hands.

6 TTSE stocks rise 2 fall

Investors pumped in $2,297,587 in trading 357,881 shares on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday, compared to the exchanging of 271,971 shares for $5,721,186 on Friday.
