Junior Market climbs higher on Tuesday

The Junior Market inched a bit higher on Tuesday with an increased number of shares at a higher value trading than on Monday. The market activity left the Index modestly higher, with a rise of 7.94 points to close back above 2,600 at 2,601.98.
Trading ended with 34 securities changing hands with the prices of 14 stocks rising, 11 declining and nine closing unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the Junior Market ended at 10.4 based on IC Insider.com’s forecasted 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 21,554,761 shares at $46,869,796 compared to 9,111,135 units at $34,960,291 on Monday.
Mailpac Group led trading with 17.10 million shares for 79 percent of total volume, followed by Indies Pharma with 2.47 million units for 11.4 percent of the day’s trade and Fontana with 699,085 units for 3.2 percent market share.
The average trade for the day ended at 633,964 units at $1,378,523 in contrast to an average of 293,908 valued at $1,127,751 on Monday. An average of 554,511 units traded for the month at $1,456,207 for each security, in contrast to 531,422 units at $1,478,781. The average volume and value for June was 245,049 units valued at $689,955.

Caribbean Producers gained 11 cents and ended at $2.50 with an exchange of 274,977 shares, Consolidated Bakeries fell 19 cents to $1.51, with investors swapping 700 units, Derrimon Trading closed 21 cents higher at $2.39 in trading 20,002 stock units. Elite Diagnostic shed 12 cents to end at $3.75 with a transfer of 3,000 units, Express Catering closed at $4.35, after picking up 34 cents and exchanging 8,000 stock units, Fontana gained 1 cent to end at $5.05, with 699,085 shares crossing the exchange. Fosrich gained 25 cents to close at $3.90 with 69,520 stock units changing hands, General Accident ended at $6.60, after rising 10 cents trading 82,050 shares, Honey Bun declined by 5 cents to $5.55, in exchanging 5,820 shares. Indies Pharma lost 6 cents to end at $2.94 trading 2,467,439 shares, ISP Finance climbed $2.98 to $15.98, with an exchange of just one stock unit, Jetcon Corporation gained 6 cents to close at 99 cents, with investors transferring 205,000 shares. Lasco Distributors rose 7 cents to end at $3.07 trading 216,327 shares, Lasco Financial was down 5 cents to settle at $2.50, in exchanging 13,100 stock units, Lasco Manufacturing rose 10 cents and closed at $3.90, with 11,367 stock units changing hands. Trading drops on JSE US$ market

Trading dropped on the US dollar market on Tuesday and led to an equal number of stock prices rising and falling and leading to the JSE US Dollar Index slipping 0.18 points to 179.71.
Trading ended with five securities changing hands with the prices of two stocks rising, two declining and one closing unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the JSE US Dollar Market ended at 12.8 based on IC Insider.com’s forecasted 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 60,494 shares, accounting for US$13,212 compared to 176,139 units at $58,052 on Monday.
The average trade for the day ended at 12,099 units at US$2,642 in contrast to an average of 25,163 valued at $8,293 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 76,698 units valued at US$6,022 in contrast to 92,078 units at US$6,827. The average for June was 281,680 units at US$46,735 for each security traded.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the JSE US Dollar market shows three stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
At the close of the market, First Rock Capital lost three-tenths of a cent and closed at 9.1 US cents, in transferring 1,000 units, Proven Investments gained 1 cent trading 49,500 stock units to end at 24 US cents, Sygnus Credit Investments shed 1.84 cents to close at 13.11 US cents in exchanging 9,820 stock units.
In the preference segment, Equityline Mortgage Investment traded 155 units at US$1.95 and JMMB Group 6% gained 5 cents to end at US$1.05, with an exchange of 19 units.

TTSE Trading picks up on Tuesday

Trading picked up the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday with volume increasing along with the total sum expended on the trades, as the market closed with seventeen securities trading down from 18 on Monday and ended with the prices of six stocks advancing, four declining and seven closing unchanged.
Market activity ended 439,536 shares valued at $5,553,342 passing through the market, compared to 432,782 shares for $3,520,958 on Monday.
The T&T Composite Index climbed 7.41 points to 1,317.08. The All T&T Index soared 14.96 points to 1,780.06, while the Cross Listed Index lost 0.04 points to close at 115.40.

Gainers│ Clico Investments inched 1 cent higher to $25, with 24,589 stock units changing hands, First Citizens Bank jumped $2.79 to $48.50, in the transfer of 12,233 stock units, Grace Kennedy gained 14 cents trading 3,800 units and closed at $3.40. Massy Holdings climbed $3 to $60, with an exchange of 29,095 stock units, NCB Financial ended 1 cent higher at $7.87, after trading 234,500 shares and Republic Financial Holdings investors swapped 1,260 units at $139.50, having gained 5 cents.
Losers│ First Caribbean International lost 5 cents after the transferring of 25,873 stock units to end at $7.15, JMMB Group ended 5 cents lower at $1.90, in trading 88,935 shares, Scotiabank slid 35 cents to $54.60, with an exchange of 29 units and West Indian Tobacco closed at $34.10, with a loss of 40 cents and 621 units changing hands.
Firm Trades│ Agostini’s traded 82 units at $25, Ansa McAL transferred 1,222 units at $50, Guardian Holdings remained at $19.50, with an exchange of 150 units. L.J. Williams B share closed at $1.40 in the trading of 2,000 units, National Enterprises exchanged 5,353 stock units at $4.75, One Caribbean Media closed at $5.50 after trading 3,681 units and investors in Unilever Caribbean transferred 6,113 stock units at $16.99.

Solid gain for Junior Market

In Junior Market trading, the Market Index surged 82 points to just over 2,621, within 30 minutes of the market opening, but slipped back later to close up a solid 54.85 points, to finish the day at 2,594.04.

General Accident was the market leader with 2.6 million shares.

The average PE Ratio of the Junior Market ended the day at 10 based on IC Insider.com’s forecasted 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with 31 securities changing hands with the prices of 10 stocks rising, 12 declining and prices of nine closing unchanged. The market closed with an exchange of 9,111,135 shares, accounting for $34,960,291 compared to an unusually high volume of 37,360,918 units at $101,776,650 on Friday.
General Accident led trading with 2.61 million shares for 29 percent of total volume for the day, followed by Indies Pharma with 2.42 million units for 26.5 percent of the day’s trade and MailPac Group with 1.1 million units for 12 percent market share.

More cash goes into US$ stocks

Investors traded fewer shares in the JSE US Dollar Market on Monday but committed much more funds to transact the trades than they did on Friday.
At the close, the JSE US dollar Index dropped by 0.30 points to 179.89. Trading ended, with seven securities changing hands up from four on Friday with the prices of two stocks rising, one declining and three closing unchanged.
The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 13 based on IC Insider.com’s forecasted 2020-21 earnings. The market closed with an exchange of 176,139 shares, for $58,052 compared to 224,150 units at $7,470 on Friday.
An average of 25,163 units traded on Monday at US$8,293 for each security. In contrast, an average of 56,038 shares traded at just $1,868 each on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 92,078 units valued at US$6,827 in contrast to 125,536 units at US$6,094. The average trade for June amounted to 281,680 units at US$46,735 each.

JSE Main market stocks tumble

Stocks mostly pulled back on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday as investors engaged in moderate trading and sent the market indices into a dive, at the close, and adding to sizeable losses on the first two days of July.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaica Composite Index declined by 6,453.85 points to 408,595.76, the JSE Market Index dropped 5,842.37 points to 372,761.42 and the JSE Financial Index lost 2.05 points to end at 96.26. The average PE Ratio of the Main Market closed at 15.3 based on IC Insider.com forecasted 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 43 securities changing hands with the prices of seven stocks rising, 24 declining and 11 trading firm. The market closed with an exchange of 5,526,846 shares accounting for $49,678,898 compared to 11,919,474 units at $95,504,967 on Friday.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 1.43 million shares for 26 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 853,642 units for 15.5 percent of the day’s trade and Pulse Investments with 822,283 units for 15 percent market share.
The average trade for the day ended at 128,531 units at $1,155,323 in contrast to an average of 290,719 valued at $2,329,389 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 367,724 units valued at $1,363,982 in contrast to 666,101 units at $3,860,643 on Friday. In Contrast, trading in June resulted in an average of 818,748 units for $7,498,308 for each security.

JMMB Group shed 99 cents to finish at $30.51 with 219,422 shares crossing the market, Kingston Wharves gained 36 cents and closed at $53.36 in trading 3,673 units, NCB Financial Group declined by 40 cents to end at $135.50 after exchanging 163,040 shares. Portland JSX rose 55 cents to end at $7.90 and trading 20,187 stock units, Sagicor Group declined by $3.89 to $46.10 with a transfer of 23,410 units. Sagicor Real Estate Fund jumped 54 cents to $8.29 with investors trading 69,628 stock units, Salada Foods dropped $3.40 to close at $25 after exchanging 3,775 units, Scotia Group declined by $2.25 to end at $45, in transferring 34,944 stock units and Seprod shed $2.79 to settle at $50.20 with 19,161 units changing hands.
In the preference segment, Productive Business Solutions 9.75% preference share declined by $3 to $104, after investors traded a mere one unit.

Trading jumps for Trinidad stocks

Trading activity picked up on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday, with 18 securities changing hands compared to 16 on Friday, leading to 432,782 shares crossing the exchange for $3,520,958, up from 55,883 shares for $1,525,758, on Friday.

The market closed with six advancing, three declining and nine stocks remaining unchanged and leaving the T&T Composite Index carving out a minor loss of 0.18 points to end at 1,309.67. The All T&T Index fell by 2.67 points to 1,765.10, while the Cross Listed Index bucked the losing trend and gained 0.32 points to close at 115.44.

National Flour finished at $1.85, with gains of 5 cents trading 227,572 shares, Republic Financial Holdings picked up 18 cents to settle at $139.45, with a transfer of 155 units and Scotiabank advanced 35 cents to $54.95 after exchanging 53 units.
Losers│ CinemaOne shed 24 cents to close at an all-time low of $5.50, in trading 20 units, Clico Investments lost 1 cent after exchanging a mere 34 units to end at $24.99 and Trinidad and Tobago NGL ended 75 cents lower at $16.50, with a transfer of 16,193 stock units.
Firm Trades│ Agostini’s remained at $25 with trades of a mere five units, First Citizens Bank held firm at $45.71, in exchanging 2,816 shares, Guardian Holdings closed at $19.50, with 4,079 stock units crossing the market. JMMB Group was unchanged at $1.95 after investors transferred 500 units, Massy Holdings closed at $57, with an exchange of 5,976 stock units, NCB Financial traded 1,910 shares at $7.86. Trinidad Cement closed with an exchange of 418 units at $2.10, Unilever Caribbean closed at $16.99, with 119,728 shares changing hands and West Indian Tobacco ended with trades of 1,006 units at $34.50.

Modest gains for JSE majors

Stocks closed mixed on Friday, in trading on the Main Market of the Jamaican Stock Exchange with an even number of prices rising as falling, leading to a modest rise in the market indices.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index carved out a gain of 832.41 points to end at 415,049.61, the Main Index added 722.07 points to finish at 378,603.79 and the JSE Financial Index eked out a rise of 0.45 points to 98.31. The average PE Ratio of the Main Market ended at 15.4 based on IC Insider.com’s forecasted 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with 41 securities changing hands with the prices of 15 stocks rising, 15 declining and 11 closing unchanged. The market closed with an exchange of 11,919,474 shares accounting for $95,504,967 compared to 25,342,527 units for $172,663,218 on Thursday.
Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 2.92 million shares for 24.5 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 2.55 million units for 21.4 percent of the day’s trade and Carreras with 1.85 million units for 15.5 percent market share. Other stocks trading a million shares or more are Pulse Investments was the only, closing the day’s trade with 1.5 million units and Victoria Mutual Investments, with 1.15 million units.

LascoMan dominates Junior Market trading

Lasco Manufacturing traded 18.6 shares for 49.8 percent of total volume on Friday on the Junior Market to be the leading trade for the day. Derrimon Trading was next with 14.47 million units for 38.7 percent of the day’s volume, followed by MailPac Group with 3.47 million units for 9.3 percent market share.

Lasco Manufacturing dominated Junior Market trading with 18.6 million shares.

Prices of Lasco Manufacturing and Mailpac went in opposite directions with the Lasco price hitting $3.40, helping to pull the market index down from the 2,595 points level in morning trading, by approximately 70 points. Mailpac declared a 4 cents interim dividend, the first since listing and encouraged investors’ demand in pushing the price to $2.54, the highest since it traded at $2.60, shortly after the shares were listed in December last year. Derrimon Trading traded and ended unchanged for the day.
The Junior Market Index that rose in the morning session to almost 2,600 points, but was hit, with the index tumbling to 2,525 points level at one stage before it bounced to end the day with a fall of 14.67 points at 2,539.19. The average PE Ratio of the Junior Market ended at 10.1 based on IC Insider.com’s forecasted 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with 27 securities changing hands with the prices of 10 stocks rising, eight declining and nine closing unchanged. The market closed with an exchange of 37,360,918 shares amounting to $101,776,650 compared to 11,750,821 units at $26,397,742 on Thursday.
The average trade for the day ended at 1,383,738 units for $3,769,506 in contrast to an average of 391,694 valued at $879,925 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 617,038 units valued at $1,605,315 in contrast to 266,175 units at $614,923. Trading for June ended with an average of 245,049 units valued at $689,955.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the Junior market shows five stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
At the close of the market, Blue Power lost 25 cents to end at $3.63 in trading 9,400 stock units, Cargo Handlers gained 50 cents to close at $6.90 with investors Transferring 90 units, Caribbean Cream rose 9 cents to end at $2.78 with an exchange of 67,075 shares. Everything Fresh closed at 77 cents, after picking up 1 cent trading and 17,251 stock units, investors in Express Catering transferred2,116 units at $4.35, with a 1 cent gain, Fontana lost 7 cents to settle at $5.25 trading 92,626 shares. Fosrich ended 10 cents higher at $3.65, with an exchange of10,702 shares, Honey Bun slipped 13 cents to $5.56 after the trading of 7,000 stock units, Indies Pharma shed 2 cents to close at $2.43 with 61,385 shares changing hands. Jamaican Teas fell by 11 cents to $4.96 in trading 13,750 units, Jetcon Corporation lost 12 cents to end at 93 cents in exchanging 50,000 shares, Lasco Distributors ended at $3.07 with gains of 16 cents after the transfer of 73,700 shares. Lasco Manufacturing rose 40 cents in closing at $3.90, in the trading of 18,620,719 shares, Limners and Bards lost 10 cents to settle at $2.55 with investors exchanging 185,809 shares, Lumber Depot rising 1 cent ended at $1.11, with an exchange of124,953 shares. MailPac Group gained 13 cents to close at $2.19 with a transfer of 3,470,490 shares, Stationery and Office Supplies rose 29 cents to end at $6, with 10,724 units changing hands and tTech dropped 59 cents in closing at $4.80 and trading 24,245 stock units.

JSE US$ market ends week on high

Trading on the JSE US Dollar Market remained low key on Friday, but it carved out a rise in the market Index of 1.35 points to finish at 180.19, with four securities changing hands.
Trading ended with the prices of two stocks rising, one declining and one closing unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the JSE US Dollar Market ended at 12.9 based on IC Insider.com’s forecasted 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 224,150 shares, accounting for US$7,470 compared to 1,520,815 units at US$77,061 on Thursday.
The average trade for the day ended at 56,038 units at US$1,868 in contrast to an average of 380,204 valued at US$19,265 on Thursday. Trading closed, with an average of 125,536 units for the month to date at US$6,094 for each security trading, in contrast to 153,335 units at US$7,784 on Thursday. The average trades for June was 281,680 shares at US$46,787 for each security.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the JSE US Dollar market shows five stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and none with a lower offer.
At the close of the market, Proven Investments concluded trading, with 23,405 shares after the price rose four-tenth of a cent to close at 23 US cents. Sygnus Credit Investments added 2 cents to settle at 15 US cents in exchanging 695 units and Transjamaica Highway lost one-tenth of a cent to close at 0.94 of a cent, with 200,000 shares crossing the exchange.
In the preference segment, EquityLine Mortgage preference share traded 50 units and closed unchanged at USUS$1.95.
