Trading surges on JSE USD market

Trading surged sharply on Thursday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market, with the volume of shares changing hands jumping 201 percent and the value rising 708 percent more than on Wednesday, resulting in more stocks rising than falling.
Trading ended with five securities changing hands, down from eight on Wednesday with prices of two rising, none declining and three ending unchanged.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index lost 0.42 points to end at 195.21. The PE Ratio, a measure used in computing appropriate stock values, averages 12.2. The PE ratio uses earnings forecasts done by ICInsider.com for each company with the financial year ending during the current year up to August 2022.
Overall, 651,072 shares traded for US$135,453 compared to 216,601 units at US$16,762 on Wednesday. Trading averaged 130,214 units at US$27,091, compared to 27,075 shares at US$2,095 previously and month to date averages 82,273 shares at US$10,990 versus 80,309 units at US$10,330 on Wednesday. October ended with an average of 48,646 units for US$4,160.

At the close, First Rock Capital USD share finished unchanged at 6.6 US cents, with 1,509 shares crossing the market, Proven Investment popped 0.41 of a cent to 22.99 US cents in exchanging 591,933 stock units, Sygnus Credit Investments USD share ended unchanged at 13 US cents trading 7,480 units and Transjamaican Highway rose 0.01 of a cent to 0.81 US cents with 50,000 stocks changing hands.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% remained at US$1.15 in switching ownership of 150 stocks.

Trading plunges on JSE Main market

Market activity ended on Thursday with the volume of shares declining 25 percent and the value plunging 26 percent lower than on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as rising stocks failed to match those declining.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dived 2,262.59 points to 431,950.73, the JSE Main Index shed 1,959.04 points to 390,804.57 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.88 points to end at 94.97.
Overall 52 securities traded up from 51 on Wednesday, with 17 rising, 21 declining and 14 ending unchanged.

Supreme Ventures fell 63 cents in closing at $17.85 with the swapping of 73,324 shares and Sygnus Credit Investments rose 99 cents to $15.99, with 159,129 stocks crossing the market.
In the preference segmentEppley 7.50% preference share shed 90 cents to settle at $6 in trading 130 units and Productive Business Solutions 9.75% preference shares advanced $28.90 to close at $101 after crossing the exchange with one stock unit.

Junior Market drops again

Trading closed on Thursday, with the volume of stocks changing hands rising 81 percent and the value climbing 22 percent higher than on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market, but the robust trading gains failed to stave off a fall in the market index after opening at 3,412 points.
Market activity led to 37 securities trading compared to 36 on Wednesday and ended with 11 rising, 21 declining and five, closing unchanged. At the close, the Junior Market Index shed 12.60 points to settle at 3,355.11.

500,000 Jamaicans Vaccinated

More than half a million Jamaicans have been fully vaccinated up to Wednesday of this week. according to data put out by the Ministry and Health, 65,726 persons have had Single Dose and 433,036 received the second dose bringing the total to 500,046 persons.
A total of 1,086,928 total Doses have been administered leaving 153,099 persons to get additional shots. according to the data on the ministry’s website 4,328 shots were administered on Wednesday, with the total up to Tuesday being 1,086,928 shots in total. at the end of October, just 378,054 persons were fully vaccinated resulting in 131,992 being fully vaccinated in less than a month at a monthly rate of 165,000. At this pace by the end of the year, fully vaccinated persons could be close to 700,000 or around 30 percent of the eligible population.
Fully vaccinated persons represent approximately 24 percent of the eligible population.

More gains for JSE Main Market

Market activity ended on Wednesday with the volume of shares trading rising 39 percent and the value of stocks 25 percent lower than Tuesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as rising stocks clobbered those declining.
Overall, 51 securities traded compared to 50 on Tuesday, with 26 rising, 17 declining and eight unchanged. The All Jamaican Composite Index spiked 2,767.79 points to 434,213.32, the JSE Main Index jumped 2,471.24 points to 392,763.61 and the JSE Financial Index rallied 0.42 points to end at 95.85.

Trading closed on Wednesday, with the stock volume and value rising 65 percent and 22 percent, respectively higher than  Tuesday. The market index slipped for a second day at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market.
A total of 36 securities traded similar to Tuesday and ended with 12 rising, 15 declining and nine, closing unchanged.

Market activity ended on Tuesday with the volume of shares trading rising marginally, with the value 62 percent higher than on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as declining stocks beat out those rising.

Trading picked up moderately on Tuesday over Monday, with the volume and the value of stocks traded rising at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market, leading to the number of advancing and declining stocks closing almost even.

Market activity ended on Monday with the volume of shares trading declining modestly as the value plunged 69 percent below Friday trades at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as rising stocks exceeded those falling, sending the market indices higher in the process.
The All Jamaican Composite Index surged 2,970.07 points to 430,207.92, the JSE Main Index climbed 2,743.08 points to 389,556.25 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.65 points to end at 95.14.

Junior Market bounces on Monday

Stocks recorded gains at the close on Monday, with the Market Index rallying 34.19 points to 3,382.50, but the volume and the value of stocks traded fell 43 percent lower than Friday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market.
A total of 35 securities traded, up from 33 on Friday, with 16 rising, 13 declining and six, unchanged. AMG Packaging and Dolphin Cove ended at 52 weeks’ closing high and SSL Venture Capital traded at an intraday high of $1.

Fontana shed 20 cents in closing at $7.50, with 53,724 stock units changing hands, Fosrich dropped 18 cents to $8.82, trading 8,854 shares, General Accident climbed 20 cents to $6.90, with 3,500 stocks clearing the market. Honey Bun declined 25 cents to $10.25 in switching ownership of 99,459 units, iCreate dropped 16 cents in closing at 79 cents in an exchange of 90,000 shares, Indies Pharma lost 13 cents to close at $2.87 with the swapping of 79,139 stock units. Lasco Financial popped 9 cents to $3.19 in exchanging 81,844 stocks, Lumber Depot rallied 9 cents to end at $2.97 trading 75,317 units, Mailpac Group shed 15 cents to close at $3.39 in switching ownership of 269,613 stocks. Main Event climbed 43 cents to $4.15, with 75,335 stock units changing hands and Stationery and Office Supplies gained 58 cents in closing at $6.19 in an exchange of 3,649 shares.
