Majority of TTSE stocks held firm

Most stocks changing hands remained unchanged at the end of Friday, but price movements of rising stocks were strong enough to overcome the strength of those declining and led to a rise in the main indices, after investors traded 59 percent fewer shares, carrying 79 percent lower value than on Thursday, at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
At the close, 19 securities traded compared to 18 on Thursday, with three rising, five declining, while 11 ended unchanged. The Composite Index popped 5.04 points to settle at 1,427.49, the All T&T Index spiked 9.76 points to 1,945.03 and the Cross-Listed Index remained unchanged at 122.45.
A total of 120,433 shares traded for $1,598,791, compared to 292,578 units at $7,698,212 on Thursday.
An average of 6,339 units traded at $84,147 versus 16,254 shares at $427,678 on Thursday. The average trade for the month to date amounts to 15,105 units at $206,055 versus 17,835 units at $244,027. The average trade for July amounts to 20,941 units at $221,079.

At the close, Agostini’s dropped 45 cents to close at $24.55 in trading 1,755 shares, Angostura Holdings ended at $16.48 after 300 stock units crossed the market, Calypso Macro Investment Fund advanced 34 cents to $16.50, with an exchange of 1,476 shares, Clico Investment Fund dipped 2 cents to $26.80 after exchanging 456 stock units. First Citizens Bank ended at $50.10, trading 100 stock units.  FirstCaribbean International Bank closed at $6.50 after exchanging 10 stock units, GraceKennedy slipped 5 cents to $6.30 in the swapping of 43,070 units, Guardian Holdings rallied 75 cents to $33.25 in trading 10,949 units. JMMB Group fell 3 cents to $2.08, with an exchange of 37,000 units, Massy Holdings closed at $81 while exchanging 6,266 stocks, National Enterprises settled at $3.90 after ownership of 4,020 shares was switched. National Flour Mills remained at $2.05, with an exchange of 2,413 stocks, One Caribbean Media ended at $4.15, with 2,625 units changing hands, Republic Financial Holdings ended at $138 after exchanging 10 shares. Scotiabank closed at $59, after trading at 1,107 shares, Trinidad & Tobago NGL popped 2 cents to $17.72 while exchanging 2,886 stock units, Trinidad Cement fell 6 cents to $3.90, with 1,100 stocks changing hands, Unilever Caribbean settled at $16.35 with the swapping of 1,225 stock units and West Indian Tobacco remained at $32 with an exchange of 3,665 shares.

JSE Main Market gives up early gains

Market activity ended on Thursday with the majority of stocks declining, overpowering those that advanced, with the volume of shares traded marginally different than on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
At the opening of the market, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose to 465,388.11 points, within 90 minutes of the market opening, but the market was unable to d onto the gains at the close. In the end, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined 463.58 points to 461,132.61, the JSE Main Index gained 74.68 points to end at 421,732.30 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.05 points to 103.51.
Trading ended with 49 securities compared to 46 on Wednesday, with 12 stocks rising, 27 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, a measure that determines appropriate stock values, averages 16.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 6,485,437 shares trading for $73,527,010 versus 6,341,667 units at $102,594,305 on Wednesday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 19.3 percent of the total of 1.25 million shares followed by Wigton Windfarm 17.6 percent, with 1.14 million units and Radio Jamaica 12.5 percent with 809,342 units.
Trading averaged 132,356 units at $1,500,551, compared to 137,862 shares at $2,230,311 on Wednesday. Trading month to date averages 138,207 units at $1,500,646, in contrast to 141,133units at $1,500,693 on Wednesday. July ended with an average of 322,932 units at $15,201,099.

Junior Market slips into holiday

Just 29 securities traded on Thursday, down a bit from the 35 stocks trading on Wednesday, at the close only price movements were lopsided with just six stocks rising, while 17 declined and six closed without a change as trading on the Junior Market ended for the week shortened by two separate holidays, one at the start and the other at the end.
At the close, the Junior Market Index slipped just 2.00 points to 3,294.17 after recording gains in early morning trading.
The PE Ratio, a measure used to compute an appropriate value of stocks, averaged 12.3 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
Trading ended with marginal changes in the volume of value of stocks changing over the past two days, with 4,256,935 shares on Thursday for $11,419,242 versus 4,218,643 units at $11,909,607 on Wednesday. Future Energy Source controlled 29.5 percent of the market, with 1.26 million shares, Caribbean Flavours followed with 16.8 percent, amounting to 713,359 units and Lumber Depot 10.9 percent with an exchange of 464,372 units.
Trading averaged 146,791 units at $393,767, up from 120,533 at $340,274 on Wednesday. Trading month to date averages 241,307 units at $679,902, versus 279,912 units at $796,774 on Wednesday. July closed with an average of 163,918 units at $481,755.

Stocks mostly posted gains than losses when market activity ended on Thursday, leading to the market rising moderately after 17 percent fewer shares with a 112 percent greater value than on Wednesday traded, at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
Overall, 18 securities traded down from 22 on Wednesday, with six rising, three declining while nine closed unchanged. The Composite Index rose 0.96 points to 1,422.45, the All T and T Index gained 1.36 points to settle at 1,935.27 and the Cross-Listed Index popped 0.08 points to 122.45.

Junior Market declines on Wednesday

Trading closed on Wednesday with the index falling as investors transferred 73 percent fewer shares for 73 percent less the value than on Tuesday on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
Market activity led to 35 securities trading compared to 36 on Tuesday and ended with 12 rising, 13 declining and 10 ending unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dropped 23.06 points to finish at 3,296.17. The PE Ratio, a measure used to compute appropriate values of stocks, averaged 12.5 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
Trading ended with 4,218,643 shares changing hands for $11,909,607 down from 15,655,131 units at $44,661,348 on Tuesday. Tuesday’s rally was short-lived for the JSE USD market, with the market Index dropping 8.60 points to settle at 185.77 points on Wednesday, into negative territory for the year, after six securities changed hands versus seven on Tuesday and ended, with two stocks rising, one declining and three closing unchanged.

Market activity ended on Wednesday with mixed results after an exchange of 15 percent fewer shares, with a 131 percent greater value than on Tuesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market leaving the market indices with mixed results at the close.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rose 170.16 points to 461,596.19, the JSE Main Index shed 189.24 points to end at 421,657.62 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.18 points to 103.56.
Trading ended with 46 securities down from 52 on Tuesday, with 16 stocks rising, 15 declining and 15 ending unchanged. The PE Ratio, a measure that computes an appropriate stock value averages 16.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.

Market activity ended on Wednesday resulted in more securities trading but with 20 percent fewer shares carrying a slightly higher value than on Tuesday, resulting in an equal number of stocks rising and falling at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.

Big Spike in trading volume on Tuesday

Lumber Depot dominated trading with

Lumber Depot traded 61.5 percent of the total volume of stocks, trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange after sellers pushed 9.62 million shares, with the price plunging to a low of $2.50 during the day but recovered to close at $2.94, but with the bid at $2.58 to buy 22,010 shares.
Jetcon Corporation closed with just one bid to buy 73,805 shares at 65 cents, well off the last traded price of $1.30.
Market activity led to 36 securities trading compared to 34 on Friday and ended with the prices of 14 stocks rising, 17 declining and five closing unchanged.
The Junior Market Index slipped 3.54 points to 3,319.23. The PE Ratio, a measure used to compute an appropriate value of a stock, averages 12.9 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
The market closed on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded spiking 627 percent, with 537 percent greater value than on Friday. Trading volume surged to 15,655,131 shares for $44,661,348 compared to 2,153,858 units at $7,010,164 on Friday.
Derrimon Trading had the second highest volume with 11.2 percent of the day’s trade after an exchange of 1.75 million shares and  Future Energy Source was next, with a 9.3 percent market share with an exchange of 1.46 million units.
