Prices jumped on Thursday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market following Wednesday’s big rally but closed with falling prices having the upper hand over those rising following a 58 percent decline in the volume of stocks exchanged by investors with value plunging 69 percent compared to Wednesday, from 53 securities trading compared to 55 on Wednesday, with 15 rising, 30 declining and eight ending unchanged.
A total of just 4,145,005 shares were exchanged for $91,859,137 compared with 9,955,147 units at $296,663,488 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 78,208 units at $1,733,191 compared with 181,003 shares at $5,393,882 previously. November closed with an average of 202,406 units at $1,736,565.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 1.25 million shares for 30.1 percent of total volume followed by Pulse Investments with 539,781 units for 13 percent of the day’s trade and Massy Holdings with 500,356 units for 12.1 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rallied 4,498.12 points to 389,345.89, the JSE Main Index climbed 2,956.32 points to 341,750.83 and the JSE Financial Index rose 1.15 points to 81.99.

Eppley lost 97 cents to close at $38 after transferring 1,625 stocks, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund gained 40 cents in ending at $41.40 with 3,738 stock units changing hands, First Rock Real Estate declined $1.84 to settle at $12.76, with 2,500 stocks clearing the market. Jamaica Broilers dropped 40 cents to $28 with a transfer of 13,688 units, Jamaica Producers rose $1.77 in closing at $24.50 with the swapping of 169,480 shares, Jamaica Stock Exchange fell $2.10 to $14.80 with 2,212 shares crossing the exchange. JMMB Group shed $1 to close at $32 in trading 10,770 units, Kingston Properties dipped $1.40 to $6.50 after 2,410 stocks were traded, Kingston Wharves shed $7.29 to a 52 weeks’ closing low of $27.71 with an exchange of 159,645 stock units. Margaritaville popped $2.05 to end at $22.56 with 87 units changing hands, Massy Holdings dropped $1 in closing at $80 as investors exchanged 500,356 stock units, Mayberry Jamaican Equities rallied 90 cents to $13.40 with investors transferring 1,000 shares. NCB Financial lost 50 cents to end at $83 trading 13,197 stocks, PanJam Investment fell $2.30 to $56 in an exchange of 70,016 units, Proven Investments advanced $1.74 to $27.96 with the swapping of 9,557 shares. Pulse Investments lost 40 cents to a 52 weeks’ closing low of $2.65 after exchanging 539,781 stock units, Sagicor Group dipped $1.12 in ending at $52.98 in transferring 94,741 stocks, Scotia Group fell $2.05 to $32.15 in switching ownership of 37,516 stocks. Seprod shed $1.50 in closing at $69 after an exchange of 4,669 stock units, Supreme Ventures advanced $1.04 to $26.01 with the swapping of 114,979 shares, Sygnus Credit Investments declined $1.41 to $11.50 after exchanging 19,800 units. Sygnus Real Estate Finance gained $1.20 to end at $10.20 with an exchange of 2,501 shares and Wisynco Group lost $1.21 to close at $17.20 in trading 293,941 stock units.
In the preference segment, Eppley 7.75% preference share dropped 50 cents to $20 with 4,550 stocks clearing the market.

Rising stocks dominate JSE USD Market
The volume and value of stocks trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market dropped sharply on Wednesday, with the volume dropping 20 percent after 73 percent less funds passed through the market compared to Tuesday, resulting in eight securities changing hands, compared to six on Tuesday with prices of four rising, two declining and two ending unchanged.
Overall, 834,596 shares were traded for US$15,756 from 1,042,094 units at US$58,208 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 104,325 units at US$1,969, versus 173,682 shares at US$9,701 on Tuesday, with the month to date average of 33,913 shares at US$3,363 against 30,414 units at US$3,432 on the previous day. October ended with an average of 40,972 shares for US$2,277.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index gained 5.92 points to end at 228.05.

Proven Investments rallied 1.8 cents to 19.9 US cents after 24,457 stocks were traded, Sterling Investments gained 0.08 cents to end at 2.08 US cents in switching ownership of 5,000 stocks, Sygnus Real Estate Finance USD share rose 0.5 of a cent to 11 US cents with four shares crossing the exchange and Transjamaican Highway popped 0.08 of a cent in closing at 0.98 of one US cents with a transfer of 801,169 shares.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% ended at US$1 while exchanging 2,971 units.

Big month end rally for Jamaican stocks
Much more funds were pumped into the Jamaica stock market on Wednesday and gave the market and big push to close out the month and the Main Market clawed back all of Tuesday’s losses and more while the Junior Market surged sharply to almost claim back the 4,000 points mark. At the close of trading, the Combined Market Index jumped a solid 6,781.17 points to 352,556.17 after the volume and value of stocks trading jumped sharply over Tuesday’s levels.
The JSE Main Index climbed 6,416.85 points to 338,794.51 while the All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 8,544.44 points to end at 384,847.77, the Junior Market leapt 86.79 points to 3,978.95 and the JSE US dollar market popped 5.92 points to 228.05.
Trading ended, with 29,626,392 shares changing hands, for a mere $357.57 million, versus $88.1 million, with 11,230,305 shares traded in all markets on the previous day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded amounting to US$15,756 from US$58,208 on Tuesday.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 23.1 based on 2021-22 earnings and 12.9 times those for 2022-23 at the close of trading.

Trading jumps on JSE USD market
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks exchanged rising 483 percent, with the value surging 1,046 percent more than Monday’s levels, resulting in six securities trading, compared to eight on Monday with three rising, one declining and two ending unchanged.
A total of 1,042,094 shares were traded for US$58,208 up sharply from 178,840 units at US$5,077 on Monday.
Trading averaged 173,682 shares at US$9,701 versus 22,355 units at a mere US$635 on Monday, with a month to date average of 30,414 shares at US$3,432 compared with 24,869 units at US$3,190 on the previous day. October ended with an average of 40,972 units for US$2,277.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index lost 1.78 points to end at 222.13.

Sygnus Credit Investments USD share climbed 0.34 of a cent to 9.86 US cents in switching ownership of 363 stock units and Transjamaican Highway rallied 0.04 of a cent to 0.9 of one US cent after exchanging 547,000 units.

Gains in the Junior Market on Tuesday could not overcome a sharp decline in the Main Market stocks, resulting in the Combined Market Index suffering a 4,225.82 points fall to end at 345,7744.99 after trading levels dropped from Monday levels.
The JSE Main Index dived 4,914.99 points to 332,377.66 while the All Jamaica Composite Index plunged 6,421.71 points to 376,303.33, the Junior Market jumped 40.33 points to 3,892.15 and the JSE US dollar market slipped 1.78 points to 222.13.
Trading ended, with 11,230,305 shares changing hands, for a mere $88.1 million, versus $136.97 million, with 18,030,693 shares traded in all markets on the previous day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded amounting to US$58,208 from US$5,077 on Monday.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 22.7 based on 2021-22 earnings and 12.7 times those for 2022-23 at the close of trading.
