Trading rises market indices fall

Market activity ended on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 11 percent more after a 56 percent surge in the amount of funds passing through than on Thursday.

Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange Head Quarters

A total of 14 securities were traded compared to 11 on Thursday, with three stocks rising, five declining and six remaining unchanged. The Composite Index lost 4.74 points to end at 1,385.72, the All T&T Index declined 0.16 points to 2,041.97 and the Cross-Listed Index dropped 1.35 points to close at 95.69.
A total of 200,408 shares were exchanged for $1,484,655 versus 180,498 units at $950,429 on Thursday. An average of 14,315 units traded at $106,047 compared to 16,409 shares at $86,403 on Thursday, with trading month to date averaging 37,426 units at $345,880 versus 39,307 units at $365,404 on the previous trading day. The average trade for June amounts to 63,148 units at $485,588June amounts to 55,705 units at $392,249.

At the close, Angostura Holdings dropped 50 cents in closing at $24.50 after trading 58 shares, Clico Investment Fund gained 10 cents to end at $28.90 with the swapping of 10,809 units, First Citizens Group ended unchanged at $50 in an exchange of 67 stocks. GraceKennedy rallied 15 cents after ending at $5.47 and exchanging 3,603 stock units, Guardian Holdings declined 4 cents to close at $27.26 with 1,542 shares changing hands, JMMB Group finished at $2.30, with 11,462 units crossing the market. L.J. Williams B share remained at $2.15 as one stock unit passed through the exchange, Massy Holdings lost 7 cents ending at $5 in trading 162,396 stock units, National Enterprises finished at $3.20 while exchanging 3,100 units. NCB Financial Group shed 20 cents to $5.25 in an exchange of 1,000 shares, Republic Financial Holdings rose $1 in closing at $142 with 586 stocks changing hands, Scotiabank remained at $7 after trading 772 stock units. Trinidad & Tobago NGL fell 2 cents to close at $21.48, with 4,611 stocks clearing the market and West Indian Tobacco ended unchanged at $23.45 in switching ownership of 401 units.

Trading plunged on JSE Main Market

Man Market trading volumes plunged on Thursday after trading 66 percent less shares with 45 percent higher value than on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as 55 securities traded compared to 54 on Wednesday, with 24 rising, 15 declining and 16 ending unchanged.
Just 5,480,966 shares were exchanged for $87,344,674 compared to 16,023,046 units at $60,117,325 at the close on Wednesday. Trading averages 99,654 units at $1,588,085, compared to 296,723 shares at $1,113,284 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 186,354 units at $1,734,673, compared to 196,085 units at $1,751,127 on the previous trading day. June closed with an average of 281,913 units at $5,309,050.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 1.20 million shares for 21.9 percent of total volume followed by Supreme Ventures with 480,364 units for 8.8 percent of the day’s trade and Caribbean Producers with 439,202 units for 8 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index popped 169.72 points to settle at 436,411.29, the JSE Main Index added 30.25 points to close at 381,316.25and the JSE Financial Index declined 0.06 points to settle at 90.64.

Mayberry Jamaican Equities advanced $1.40 to end at $14.40 after exchanging 270,023 stocks, 138 Student Living gained 39 cents to close at $5.16 in an exchange of 1,108 shares, PanJam Investment fell $1.50 to $64.30, with 259,250 stock units crossing the exchange.  Proven Investments rose $1 in closing at $35 with 12,359 units changing hands, Supreme Ventures rallied 60 cents to $31 with an exchange of 480,364 stock units and Sygnus Credit Investments shed 39 cents to end at $13.61 while exchanging 51,123 shares.
In the preference segmentEppley 7.50% preference share fell 91 cents to $6.96 after 3,144 units changed hands and Jamaica Public Service 9.5% climbed $1 to close at $3000 with the swapping of one stock unit.

Trading climbs on Junior Market

Trading climbed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 45 percent and the value 18 percent more than on Wednesday, as 43 securities were exchanged, the same as Wednesday and ended with 21 rising, 19 declining and three closing unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index eked a mere gain of 6.05 points to close at 4,333.05.

The volume of stocks traded jumped 136 percent on Thursday, with the value surging 270 percent more than on Wednesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market, resulting in seven securities traded, up from five on Wednesday with two rising, four declining and one ending unchanged.

Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange ended trading on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 91 percent more than on Wednesday, with 6 percent higher value even as only 11 securities traded down from 19 on Wednesday, with three rising, five declining and three remaining unchanged.
The Composite Index advanced 2.25 points to 1,390.46, the All T&T Index rallied 5.15 points to 2,042.13 and the Cross-Listed Index slipped 0.12 points to settle at 97.04.
A total of 180,498 shares traded for $950,429 versus 94,682 units at $896,900 on Wednesday, resulting an average of 16,409 units traded at $86,403 compared to 4,983 shares at $47,205 on Wednesday, with trading month to date averaging 39,307 units at $365,404 versus 40,871 units at $384,465 on the previous trading day. The average trade for June amounts to 55,705 units at $392,249.

Trading ended on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 55 percent and 16 percent lower than Tuesday as 54 securities changed hands against 55 on Tuesday, but advancing stocks were outnumbered by those declining, with 18 rising, 27 declining and nine ending unchanged. 
The All Jamaican Composite Index popped 495.68 points to 436,241.57, the JSE Main Index rose 374.06 points to 381,286.00 and the JSE Financial Index popped 0.16 points to end at 90.70.

Trading on Wednesday closed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market with the volume of stocks traded declining 87 percent and the value diving 81 percent lower than on Tuesday,  resulting in five securities traded, compared to seven on Tuesday with two rising, one declining and two ending unchanged.
Overall, 61,706 shares traded for US$6,586 down from 487,396 units at US$33,962 on Tuesday. Trading averaged 12,341 units at US$1,317, compared to 69,628 shares at US$4,852 on Tuesday, with a month to date average of 39,459 shares at US$2,884 versus 42,118 units at US$3,038 on the previous day. Stocks fell sharply on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Wednesday, with the Market Index dropping 73.38 points to 4,327.00 while the volume of stocks traded declined 21 percent and the value fell 25 percent compared to Tuesday, with 43 securities changing hands versus 41 on Tuesday and ended, with 11 rising, 21 declining and 11 closing unchanged.

Activity on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange ended on Wednesday, with a sharp fall in the volume of stocks traded by 77 percent with an 85 percent drop in value than on Tuesday, after 19 securities traded, similar to Tuesday, with five rising, four declining and ten remaining unchanged. 
The Composite Index climbed 7.20 points to 1,388.21, but the All T&T Index shed 10.37 points to 2,036.98 and the Cross-Listed Index increased 3.64 points to 97.16.
A total of 94,682 shares were traded for $896,900 down from 412,407 units at $6,186,799 on Tuesday. An average of 4,983 units traded at $47,205 down from 21,706 shares at $325,621 on Tuesday, with trading month to date averaging 40,871 units at $384,466 versus 45,673 units at $429,592 on the previous trading day. The All Jamaican Composite Index rallied 1,325.22 points to 435,745.89, the JSE Main Index rose 1,253.18 to 380,911.94 and the JSE Financial Index popped 0.45 points to settle at 90.54.
