The Jamaican dollar lost value against the US and Canadian dollars, but made moderate gain versus the Pound, on Friday. Authorized dealers purchased the equivalent of US$39,675,612 versus US$24,125,862 on Thursday, and sold the equivalent of US$33,292,725 compared with US$22,806,454 on Thursday.
FX sum 21-11-14In US dollar trading, dealers bought US$35,055,562 compared to US$20,663,189 on Thursday. The buying rate for the US dollar climbed 17 cents to $112.98 and US$30,800,856 was sold versus US$20,336,084 on Thursday. The selling rate inched up 5 cents to end at $113.39. The Canadian dollar buying rate climbed 29 cents to $99.19 with dealers buying C$2,161,974 and selling C$1,751,164, at an average selling rate that rose 58 cents, to $100.42. The rate for buying the British Pound climbed 45 cents to $175.31, for the purchase of £1,502,657, while £392,826 was sold, at $177.41, down 5 cents. Other currencies bought, amounted to the equivalent of US$390,500, while the equivalent of US$326,350, was sold.

The Jamaican dollar lost value against all three major currencies it regularly trades with, on Wednesday. Authorized dealers purchased the equivalent of US$33,277,310 versus US$31,456,476 on Tuesday, and sold the equivalent of US$38,330,838 compared with US$34,496,767 on Tuesday.

The buying rate for the US dollar climbed 2 cents to $112.72 and US$35,577,230 was sold versus US$31,954,441 on Tuesday. The selling rate inched up 9 cents to end at $113.32. The Canadian dollar buying rate fell $1.34 to $97.38 with dealers buying C$1,031,476 and selling C$1,168,977, at an average selling rate that was up 78 cents, to $100.39. The rate for buying the British Pound gained $1.40 to $175.86, for the purchase of £1,888,280, while £771,755 was sold, at $177.80, up $1.36. Other currencies bought, amounted to the equivalent of US$676,80, while the equivalent of US$507,080, was sold.
