The Jamaica Stock Exchange saw continued low trading activity on Wednesday. Proven Investments closed with 1.24 million units with a value of US$244,000 changing hands, to be the market leading on the last trading day of September.
The main market indices suffered mild declines with the JSE Market Index losing 108.96 points to 96,324.59, JSE Sum -30- 9-15the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 121.77 points to 106,604.43 and the JSE combined index slipped 108.46 to end at 99,698.72 points.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator had a reading of 16 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 4 with offers that were lower. The rise in the closing bids coincides with the close of the month as portfolios are priced at month end.
In trading, Berger Paints had 49,048 units changing hands at $2.30, Cable and Wireless lost 1 cent with 325,800 shares changing hands, to close at 50 cents. Grace Kennedy had 64,962 shares trading and gained 66 cents to end at $64.66,JSE fn qts 30-9-15 Jamaica Broilers traded at $5.80 with 36,585 shares changing ownership and dropping 20 cents. JMMB Group traded 16,250 units at $7.63 and lost 2 cents, Pan Jamaican traded 8,177 shares to close at $61.72, Sagicor Group with 145,626 shares trading, closed with a gain of 20 cents, to end at $13.20, Scotia Group lost 25 cents in ending at $23.75 while 4,400 shares traded. Supreme Ventures close at $3.60 with 210,487 units changing hands and Proven Investments ordinary share, had 1,239,499 units changing hands at 19.5 US cents, after shedding 0.25 cents.

Main market slips in morning trading

JSE Intra 30- 09-15 Activity remains moderate on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday morning, resulted in 16 securities trading changing hands at 11 am with a volume of just 442,786 units, with 3 stocks declining and 5 rising.
Trading activity resulted in the JSE Market Index falling 75.43 points to 96,358.12. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 84.29 points to 106,641.91, the JSE combined index declined 55.48 points to be at 99,751.70 and the junior market is up 1.76 points to 982.71.

Price changes aplenty & no direction for JSE

Trading in the main market was very light with only 745,029 shares trading.
The main market indices enjoyed a second day of increases with the JSE Market Index added 77.06 points to 96,433.55, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index gained 86.11 points to 106,726.20 and the JSE combined index rose 180.75 to end at 99,807.18 points.

Grace Kennedy had 50,670 shares changing hands at $64, JSE fn qts 29-9-15 Jamaica Broilers traded at $6 with 55,760 shares changing ownership and gained 30 cents, Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 56,000 shares at $7.50, JMMB Group traded 51,620 units to end at $7.65, National Commercial Bank had 28,578 units changing hands and ended at $27.52 after losing 23 cents. Pan Jamaican traded 11,090 shares to close at $61.71. Radio Jamaica traded at $3.08 with 13,820 shares changing hands. Sagicor X Fund with 12,000 shares closed with a gain of 39 cents to end at $7.40, Scotia Group lost 95 cents in ending at $24 while 25,457 shares traded and Scotia Investments gained 1 cent to land at $25.01 with 55,000 units.

JSE Intra 29- 09-15Trading activity resulted in the JSE Market Index rising 380.32 points to 96,736.81. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 425.03 points to 107,065.12, the JSE combined index gaining 489.84 points to be at 100,116.27 and the junior market is up 14.64 points to 983.50.
The main trades so far are Caribbean Cement with 150,477 at $8, Kingston Wharves with 82,672 units at $6.50 and Scotia Investments 55,000 units at $25.01.

Trading in the main market was very light with only 446,610 shares trading.
The main market indices enjoyed a second day of increases with the JSE Market Index lost 150.92 points to 96,356.49, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index declined 168.66 points to 106,640.09 and the JSE combined index fell 112.62 to end at 99, 626.43.

Mayberry Investments had 13,500 units trading at $2.80,JSE fn qts 28-9-15 National Commercial Bank had 74,249 units changing hands and ended at $27.75, Pan Jamaican traded 2,337 shares to close with a loss of $1.29 at $61.71. Radio Jamaica traded at $3.08 with 18,847 shares changing hands. Sagicor Group with 14,503 shares closed 18 cents up, to $13. Scotia Group gained $1.18 in ending at $24.95 with 56,261 shares trading, Scotia Investments gained 47 cents to $25 with only 1,900 units, Sterling Investments ended with a loss of 40 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $13 while trading 3,000 shares and Supreme Ventures lost 15 cents with 10,300 shares trading to end at $3.60.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange saw low activity with securities trading, at the close there were 12 stocks rising to only 3 declining. The market closed with 23 totalling 2,461,162 units, valued at $7.455 million changing hands traded in all market segments. Trading in the main market was very light with only 253,878 shares with the exception of Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share, with 682,996 units at $2.50.
The main market indices enjoyed a second day of increases with the JSE Market Index gained 680.16 points to 96,507.41, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index added 693.16 points to 106,808.75 and the JSE combined index rose 760.12points to end at 99,739.05.
JSE Sum -25- 9-15 IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator had a reading of 17 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 8 with offers that were lower. This indicator has been increasing in strength over the past week as the period for company results for the third quarter approaches. Notwithstanding, there are still some pockets of weakness as shown by the number of stocks that are offered below their last selling prices.
Stocks that particularly weak are Hardware and Lumber with a last sale of $13 now being offered at $11.50. Grace Kennedy reported earlier in the year that they were considering a buyout offer for the shares thy own in this subsidiary at a maximum price of $18.50 and that the deal should be closed by the end of July, there is no further information on the deal. JSE fn qts 25-9-15Sterling Investments with a last sale of $13.40 is now on offer at $13.15, at 11 o’clock on Friday morning the amount of stock on offer at the closing quote was 242,600 units a Grace Kennedy that has an offer of $63.70 versus the last traded price of $64.
In trading, Cable and Wireless added 2 cents with 46,300 shares changing hands, to close at 51 cents, Jamaica Broilers had 86,628 units trading at $6 after shedding 9 cents, JMMB Group traded at $7.63 with 36,487 shares changing hands. National Commercial Bank had 23,100 units changing hands and ended at $27.75 while dropping 1 cent, Scotia Group traded 26,428 shares to close at $23.77.
IC Insider was unable to get the closing bids and offer volumes at the close of trading on Friday, accordingly the trading sheet do not carry this information.

Market gains in Friday morning trading

Activity was subdued on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday morning, resulted in JSE Intra 25- 09-158 securities trading changing hands at 11 am with a big increase in volume of 758,247 units, with 1 stocks declining and 4 rising.
Trading activity resulted in the JSE Market Index rising 203.74 points to 96,030.99. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 227.69 points to 106,276.32, the JSE combined index gaining 243.35 points to be at 99,289.24 and the junior market is up 5.71 points to 965.51.
The main trade so far are Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share with 659,996 units at $2.50 and Lasco Manufacturing that has gained 9 cents to be trading at $2.05 with 49,956 units.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange saw low activity with only 24 securities trading, the volume increased sharply from recent trading days with Cable and Wireless trading almost 11 million shares and Ciboney with just over 4 million units than on Thursday. At the close there were 11 stocks rising to 4 declining. The market closed with 24 totalling 18,198,760 units, valued at $28,814,733 changing hands traded in all market segments.
The main market indices enjoyed a second day of increases with the JSE Market Index gained 89.23 points to 95,827.25, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index added 99.71 points to 106,048.63 and the JSE combined index rose 167.49 points to end at 99,045.89.

This is an indication that while there is buying interest above current prices for a large number of stocks, there are still a noticeable number of stocks that investors want to be out of, at lower prices, than the last selling price.
Stocks that particularly weak are Hardware and Lumber with a last sale of $13 now being offered at $11.50. Grace Kennedy reported earlier in the year that they were considering an offer for this subsidiary at a maximum price of $18.50 and that the deal should be closed by the end of July. To date there has been no further information on the buy out offer, even as the July deadline is long past. Sterling Investments with a last sale of $13.40, now have on offer at $13.15, 242,600 units and no bids to buy.
Trading in the main market ended with Berger Paints trading 20,000 shares at $2.28, Cable and Wireless slipped 1 cent with 10,774,000 shares changing hands, to close at 49 cents. At the close the stock had 1,122,637 units on the bid at 48 cents and 172,996 units on offer at 51 cents. Carreras traded 224,067 shares at $49.50 while gaining 50 cents, Ciboney Group with 4,365,250 shares at 9 cents, Desnoes & Geddes ended with 135,000 shares trading with a 35 cents gain to close at $6.50, Jamaica Broilers had 35,930 units trading at $6.09, JMMB Group traded at $7.63 with 10,984 shares changing ownership. JSE fn qts 24-9-15 Mayberry Investments had 160,100 shares trading at $2.80, National Commercial Bank had 81,100 units changing hands and ended at $27.76 while losing just 1 cent, Sagicor Group with 80,000 shares trading, closed 1 cent higher at $12.82, Scotia Group traded 52,000 shares to close with a rise of 2 cents to $23.77. Scotia Investments traded 10,110 shares in closing at $24.53 with a gain of 1 cent, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share 313,046 units at $2 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share 1,841,065 units at $2.50 fo a rise of 1 cent.
