The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange indices jumped on the back of a $1 movement in the price of Desnoes & Geddes in response to an offer by Heineken for approximately J$31 per share for the shares it does not now own. At the close, there were 14 stocks rising, 3 declining with 21 securities totalling 2,920,468 units, valued at $33,633,857 changing hands, in all market segments, and with three junior market stocks ending at new 52 weeks’ closing high.
The main market indices enjoyed a day of decent gains. The JSE Market Index climbed 1,270.20 points to 99,072.69, the JSE All Jamaican Composite indexjumped 1,419.52 points to 109,675.59 and the JSE combined index jumped 1,316.98 to end at 102,980.98 points.

In trading, Cable and Wireless added 1 cent with 8,000 shares changing hands to close at 51 cents, Carreras traded 70,682 shares to close $1.25 higher at $50.25, Desnoes and Geddes (D&G) traded just 3,000 shares to close at $8, after gaining $1. The D&G stock closed with a bid of $9.20 to buy the stock Jamaica Broilers closed at $6.50 with 29,188 shares changing ownership while gaining 41 cents, JMMB Group is worth watching having traded just 7,850 shares at $7.65 with a 1 cent gain but closed with the .
bid at $7.80 to buy 468,490 units with the closest amount offered being 51,500 shares at $8.50, the next amount offered is 9,171 units at $9.50. Kingston Wharves ended with a gain of 38 cents, to close at $7 with 301,000 shares changing hands. Sagicor Group with 1,659,265 shares trading, closed at $13.05, with a 5 cents rise, Scotia Group added 10 cents in ending at $24 while 164,793 shares traded and Proven Investments lost 2 cents with 25,000 units changing hands to close at 20 US cents.
J$31 offer for D&G shares spikes market
D&G offer pushes JSE, juniors at new high
Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday morning has been slow but the news dominating the market is a J$31 offer proposed by Heineken to buy out all the shares in Desnoes & Geddes it does not now own. Heineken bought out the subsidiary of Diageo that owned the shares in Desnoes & Geddes thus giving them majority holdings in the local company. D&G traded at $8 with an increase of $1, the bid is now quoted at $10.50.
Elsewhere, trading so far has seen the junior market at a new all-time high with only a few of the stocks being active. Overall only 10 securities have traded at 11:15 am with a volume of a mere 57,540 units, 2 stocks declined and 6 gained.
Trading activity resulted in the JSE Market Index 535.63 points to 98,338.12. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 598.60 points to 108,854.67, the JSE combined index 617.64 points to be at 102,281.64 and the junior market is up 12.53 points to 1,056.68 for a new record and is not very far off from the all-time high of 1,040.59.
JSE down as 14 stocks rise 11 fall on Tuesday
The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, gave up about a third of the gains of Monday, when the main market indices surged sharply, with the all Jamaica composite rising over 2,000 points with the others just slightly below. At the close, there were 14 stocks rising, 11 declining with 26 securities totalling 2,430,349 units, valued at $25,713,681 changing hands, in all market segments. Three junior market stocks closed at new 52 weeks’ high.
The main market indices suffered declines with the JSE Market Index declining 613.31 points to 97,802.49, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 685.42 points to 108,256.07 and the JSE combined index dropped 399.42 to end at 101,664.00 points.

In trading, Berger Paints ended with 27,354 shares trading 1 cent higher at $2.30, Cable and Wireless lost 3 cents with 15,118 shares changing hands to close at 50 cents, Carreras traded 188,871 shares to close 99 cents lower at $49. Desnoes & Geddes traded 80,135 shares to close at $7, after gaining 18 cents, Grace Kennedy traded only 1,000 shares at $64 but had no shares on offer, at the close, for the third day running. 
Jamaica Broilers closed at $6.09 with 46,300 shares changing ownership while gaining 29 cents. Mayberry Investments had 132,117 shares trading to close at $2.25 for a loss of 10 cents. National Commercial Bank had 41,975 units trading at the close at $29.01 for a $1.49 cents fall, Pan Jamaican traded 30,050 shares to close with a fall of 50 cents to $61. Radio Jamaica traded 68,016 shares with a 50 cents rise to end at $4, Sagicor Group with 272,875 shares trading, closed at $13, Scotia Group added 15 cents in ending at $23.90 while 265,275 shares traded and Scotia Investments gained $2.45 with 5,000 units changing hands to close at $27.45.
JSE down in early Tuesday trading
Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday morning resulted in 17 securities trading changing hands at 11:15 am with a volume of 1,141,572 units, with 7 stocks declining and 10 rising.
Trading activity resulted in the JSE Market Index dropping 763.94 points to 97,651.86. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 853.75 points to 108,087.74, the JSE combined index declined 709.64 points to be at 101,353.78 and the junior market is up 1.31 points to 1,025.34 and is not very far off from the all-time high of 1,040.59.
Consolidated Bakeries had 962,000 shares trading at $1.10, Lasco Distributors had 68,350 units trading at $2. Mayberry Investments had 29,617 units trading at $2.20 and lost 15 cents, National Commercial Bank fell $1.50 to $29 with 36,975 shares Radio Jamaica traded 68,016 shares with a 50 cents rise to $4 and Scotia Group traded 106,491shares at $23.51.
JSE main indices up sharply on Monday
The Jamaica Stock Exchange saw continued low trading activity on Monday, while the main market indices surged sharply with the all Jamaica composite rising over 2,000 points. At the close, there were 12 stocks rising, 9 declining with 25 securities totalling 1,997,084 units, valued at $8,313,166 changing hands, in all market segments.
The main market indices suffered declines with the JSE Market Index leapt 1,796.05 points to 98,415.80, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index surged 2,007.19 points to 108,941.49 and the JSE combined index jumped 1,755.12 to end at 102,063.42 points.

shares in ending at $7.11, for a 19 cents fall, Mayberry Investments had 32,000 shares trading to close at $2.35, for a loss of 25 cents, at the close the stock was on offer at $2.20. National Commercial Bank had 30,500 units trading at the close at $30.50 for a 50 cents fall, Pan Jamaican traded 5,000 shares to close with a rise of 48 cents to $61.50. Sagicor Group with 32,000 shares trading, closed with a loss of 3 cents to end at $13, Scotia Group added 25 cents in ending at $23.75 while 149,247 shares traded and Proven Investments ordinary share close at 22 US cents after gaining 2.25 cents with 173,100 units changing hands.
JSE gains in early Monday trading
Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday morning continues to reflect moderate interest by investors, resulting in 17 securities trading changing hands at 11 am with a volume of 1,298,546 units, with 2 stocks declining and 6 rising.
Trading activity resulted in the JSE Market Index gaining 211.59 points to 96,831.34. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 236.46 points to 107,170.76, the JSE combined index climbed 257.66 points to be at 100,565.96 and the junior market is up 6.49 points to 1,023.87 and is not very far off from the all-time high of 1,040.59.
Cable & Wireless last traded 799,014 shares at 51 cents, Desnoes & Geddes traded 27,650 shares at $7 after gaining 38 cents, KLE Group had 228,390 units trading at a new low of 43 cents and Lasco Distributors had 187,793 units trading at $1.97.

Sagicor Group with 167,015 shares trading, closed with a gain of 3 cents to end at $13.03, Sagicor Real Estate Fund with 8,550 shares closed at $7.50. Scotia Group lost 20 cents in ending at $23.50 while 208,506 shares traded, Scotia Investments traded 8,550 units with a loss of $2.50 to end at $25 and Proven Investments preference share close at $5 with 51,480 units changing hands.
JSE indices jump in early trading Friday
Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday morning was subdued, resulting in 18 securities trading changing hands at 11 am with a volume of 547,500 units, with 6 stocks 
declining and 6 rising.
Trading activity resulted in the JSE Market Index gaining 135.03 points to 98,104.66. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 150.90 points to 108,593.77, the JSE combined index climbed 387.38 points to be at 101,690.73 and the junior market is up 29.10 points to 1,015.19.
General Accident Insurance traded 65,186 shares at $1.45 and Lasco Manufacturing had 280,424 units trading at a new all-time high of $2.30, to be the largest volumes to trade.
