TTSE build Market activity on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange dipped sharply on Thursday with very moderate volume and closed with 10 stocks changing hands compared to 13 on Wednesday.
Trading ended with 32,776 units valued at $570,141 changing hands, compared to 84,825 shares valued at $1,022,125 on Wednesday, with 2 stocks advancing, 5 declining and 3 unchanged.
The Composite Index declined 0.04 points to 1,205.28 points, the All T & T Index lost 0.01 point to 1,832.84 points with its year to date loss at 5.94 percent. The Cross Listed Index down 0.01 point to 77.20 points with year to date gains of 55.93 percent.

Firm Trades | Ansa McAL closed at $66.50 with an exchange of 37 shares, National Commercial Bank, with 1,286 shares changing hands, closed at $2.87 and Point Lisas with 1,990 shares being traded, closed at $3.70.

At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index dropped 96.28 points to end at 200,516.86, the index recorded gains of 20 percent for the year to date. The JSE Market Index fell 16.65 points to finish at 183,671.40. The JSE combined index climbed 803.25 points to end at 196,077.05, with a gain for the year to date of 24 percent.
At the close with 4,593,992 units valued at $80,066,072 changed hands, compared to 9,349,308 units valued at $92,313,081 changing hands on Wednesday. Of the stocks traded, the junior market accounted for 1,222,548 units changing hands, valued at $5,774,823.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 140,477 shares compared to an average of 363,465 units traded on Wednesday with the average for the month to date being 122,285 units compared to 245,763 units for the month up to Wednesday. November ended with an average of 208,466 units.

The all Jamaica Composite Index rose 544.89 points to 201,157.03 the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index dipped 487.23 points to 184,175.28, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index gained 965.44 points to close at 196,239.24 and the junior market index jumped 49.97 points to end at 2,476.15.
The all Jamaica Index gained more than 1,000 points prior to the cut off of this report before it pulled back to the lower level.

More gains for Jamaican$ on Wednesday

Pound The Jamaican dollar made more gains against the US dollar and the euro in foreign exchange trading on Wednesday, following gains made on Tuesday but lost value against the British pound and the Canadian dollar. At the close of the market, dealers bought the equivalent of US$58,868,333 of all currencies and sold US$36,828,727, compared to US$57,996,882 purchased and US$49,187,617 sold on Tuesday.
In US dollar trading, dealers bought US$50,506,344 compared to US$53,844,073 on Tuesday. The buying rate for the US dollar rose 10 cents to $128.22. A total of US$30,039,107 was sold versus US$47,268,489 on Tuesday, with the selling rate slipping by 6 cents to $128.64.FX sum 14-12-16 The Canadian dollar buying rate gained $2.91 to $97.55, with dealers buying C$7,270,007 and selling C$6,871,594 at an average rate that climbed $1.12 to finish at $98.03. The average rate for buying the British Pound slipped 26 cents to $159.97 for the purchase of £2,209,920 while £1,156,688 was sold with a rise of 80 cents to end at $162.92.
At the end of trading on Wednesday, dealers sold €66,011 with the selling rate for the Euro, closing with a fall of 27 cents to $135.88, according to data from Bank of Jamaica. Dealers purchased €63,330 of the European common currency at $132.18 after rising 27 cents. The US dollar equivalent of other currencies traded, amounts to US$8,283 being bought and selling of US$18,267.
