Declining stocks on top Monday
The JSE Market Index declined 236.68 points to 97,430.27 the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 264.54 points to close at 107,839.80 but the JSE combined index dropped 234.79 points to end at 100,012.08.

In trading, Cable & Wireless had 128,943 units changing hands at 45 cents at the close, after shedding 2 cents. Caribbean Cement had 68,775 units trading at $5.50, Carreras lost $2.20 while trading 20,000 shares to close at $48.30, Desnoes and Geddes traded at $7.56 with 35,000 shares, Gleaner ended with 5,600 shares changing hands to gain 10 cents, for a 52 weeks’ high of $1.29. Grace Kennedy ended with 21,158 units at $63.50 by dropping 50 cents, Jamaica Broilers gained 50 cents in trading 7,605 units to end at $6, JMMB Group added 10 cents in trading 400,538 shares and ended at $7.50. Mayberry had 36,805 shares trading, to end at a $2.52, National Commercial Bank fell 47 cents while trading 99,459 shares, to close at $29.03, Sagicor Group fell 15 cents with 485,685 units trading, to end at $12.55, but only after it traded during the day at a 52 weeks’ high of $13.10, Sagicor Real Estate Fund saw trading in 6,053 units but lost 40 cents in closing at $7.30, Scotia Group had 11,027 units trading 4 cents up at $23.25.

Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with 17 stocks rising, 6 declining as 28 securities changed hands and ending in 1,670,491 units trading, valued at $31,272,240 and 4 stocks closed at 52 weeks’ high in all market segments. The main market closed with 12 stocks advancing to 4 falling.
The JSE Market Index gained 616.53 points to 97,666.95, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 689.12 points to close at 108,104.34 but the JSE combined index added 631.68 points to end at 100,236.87.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator was showing a worse reading than Thursday’s close of 12 to 5. The reading at the end of Friday’s trading is 7 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 6 with offers that were lower as the market continues to swing between ups and down.
In trading, Carreras put on $2.23 while trading 1,000 shares to close at $50.50, Gleaner ended with 13,000 shares changing hands to gain 12 cents for a 52 weeks’ high of $1.19, Jamaica Broilers gained 50 cents in trading 7,605 units to end at $6, JMMB Group added 10 cents in trading 219,702 shares and ended at $7.50. Kingston Wharves climbed 15 cents to $7.15 with 14,071 shares, Montego Bay Ice has not traded in more than two years finally traded today but lost $2.95 to end at $15 while 1,560 shares traded to end at a 52 weeks low. National Commercial Bank rose 40 cents while trading 137,540 shares to close at $29.40, Proven Investments traded 132,278 share to close at 19 US cents, Sagicor Group inched up 9 cents with 105,691 units trading, to end at $12.70, Sagicor Real Estate Fund saw trading in 101,000 units but lost 30 cents in closing at $7.70 and Scotia Investments climbed $1 to $28.50 with 677,500 units, most of the stock traded at $2.
JSE records gains as 12 stock rose
The JSE Market Index rose by 850.14 points to 99,251.97, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 950.23 points to close at 109,875.98 and the JSE combined index gained 909.48 points to end at 101,846.89.

After two hours of trading on Thursday there was heavy trading in a number of stocks. The big trades for the day are Caribbean Cement with 4,504,011 shares to close at $4.80, the vast majority traded at $5. Carreras traded 528,878 units to end at $50, Jamaica Broilers with 3,019,120 shares changing hands, closed at $5.50, Scotia Group traded 1,103,300 shares with the price closing unchanged at $25.50 as Scotia Investment bought most of those to trade. Supreme Ventures had 8,559,749 shares traded to end at $3.50, down 25 cents and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 836,000 units with a gain of 19 cents to end at $2.30.
Elsewhere in the market, Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 21,150 units to end with a gain of 20 cents to a new closing high of $5. National Commercial Bank with 248,135 shares closed at $29.60 to end with a 5 cents gain, Pan Jamaican Investment traded 5,678 shares to close 3 cents higher at a new 52 weeks high of $60.55, Pulse Investments traded 300,000 units at 45 cents, to gain 9 cents for a new 52 weeks high. Sagicor Group had 388,585 shares trading to close at $12, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 418,797 shares at $7.60, up 50 cents on the day, Scotia Investments exchanged 20,028 shares to close at $26.28 and Proven Investments traded 146,255 shares at 21 US cents.
JSE near 2 year high with 2,528 points rise
Main Market|The JSE Market Index gained 2,261.39 points to 87,351.52, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 2,528.34 points to close at 96,381.35 putting it back in line with the close of 96,381.58 on May 3, 2012 and the JSE combined index gained 2,134.42 points to close at 89,072.22. Scotia Group’s price movement to $24.50 in early trading was the major factor behind the big surge in the main market indices, as such there may be a fall back on Tuesday as Scotia’s price seems likely to settle back well below the price of $23.81 used in computing today’s indices, unless other stocks move up to compensate.

In trading, Scotia Investments bought all Scotia Group’s shares to trade, in the early morning session up to $24.50, for a 52 weeks intra-day high, but the stock ended with 205,115 units trading to close at $22.10 with a 24 cents fall from Friday’s last sale price. Desnoes & Geddes traded 92,793 shares up to $5.90, with a 10 cents gain, Grace Kennedy traded 933,318 shares and closed at $62.01, with a total value of $57.8 million, with the price dropping $1.99 from Friday’s last traded price of $64. National Commercial Bank traded only 21,750 shares to close higher at $26, with an increase of 47 cents. Radio Jamaica 86,383 units that traded did so at $2, Sagicor Group 16,400 units traded at $10.50, Sagicor Real Estate Fund had 48,600 units changing hands at $6.75, to gain 25 cents and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded 33,500 units at $3.10.
Kingston Wharves traded just 4,00 shares but ended up gaining 50 cents to close at $6.40, Scotia Investments gained 49 cents in trading 1,200 units at $23.50 and Supreme Ventures traded 4,000 units at $2.80 by gaining 30 cents.

Main Market| At the close, the JSE Market Index dropped 240.35 points to close at 82,309.34, the JSE All Jamaican Composite fell 268.71 points to close at 90,743.97 and the JSE Combined Index declined by 217.82 points to close at 84,003.67.

Jamaica Broilers concluding trading with 2,351 shares changing hands, gained 25 cents to $4.30, Pan Jamaican Investment finished trading with 15,330 shares traded with a gain of $1.95 to $57, Sagicor Real Estate Fund closing with 4,650 shares changing hands at 25 cents higher to $6.95 and Scotia Group concluding trading with 84,692 shares with the price rising 5 cents to $21.05.
Firm| The stocks in the main market to close without a change in the last traded prices are, Desnoes & Geddes ending trading with 2,200 shares at $5.45 and Grace Kennedy while having 66,194 shares changing hands closed at $61.

Caribbean Cement finishing trading with 26,007 units, as the price slipped 5 cents to $2.25, Carreras ending with 10,560 units 10 cents off to $39, Jamaica Producers in trading 1,150 units, slipped 40 cents to $15.60. Mayberry Investments finishing trading with 40,168 shares changing hands for 2 cents lower at $2.36, National Commercial Bank had 56,063 shares changing hands for 88 cents loss to $24.11 and Sagicor Group contributing 321,714 shares to trading at 4 cents lower to $10.51.

JSE’s healthy climb on Tuesday
The Jamaica Stock Exchange reported healthy gains in the main indices on Tuesday, resulting from in the prices of 8 stocks rising, 6 declining as 27 securities changed hands, ending with 3,289,252 units trading, valued at $15,185,420, in all market segments.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index gained 456.93 points to 82,156.02, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 510.86 points to close at 90,572.54 and the JSE combined index climbed 363.77 points to close at 83,896.99.
