9 new IPOs for 2018

Last year (2017), was a great year for Jamaican stocks with prices of several stocks more than doubling on the Jamaican Stock Exchange and 10 new companies listing on the exchange.
2018 seems poised to be another year for a number of new issues on the market as business owners take advantage of a buoyant market for equity investments.
The local market should have new 9 issues, Marlene Streete-Forrest, the JSE Managing Director confirmed. Streete-Forrest expects that 5 issues will list on the Junior Market and 4 for the main market. New financial entity Sygnus Capital is said to be heading to the public in January. Other listings expected shortly are Caribbean Insurance Brokers, NevEast and Elite Diagnostics. University College of the Caribbean with its main operations in Kingston, Jamaica, is expected to be the first educational institution to seek to list on the stock exchange. The listing is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2018. Mayberry Investment is also expected to bring their subsidiary, Mayberry West Indies to market by February.
In 2017, the Jamaica Stock Exchange had 10 new companies listing on the exchange, including 2 new companies listing preference shares. Two new listings were on the main market one on the US dollar market and 5 on the Junior Market.
Scotia Investments, Trinidad Cement, Montego Bay Ice and Margaritaville preference share were delisted during the year.

MoBay Ice jumps to new high

Montego Bay Ice traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of $20 with 193,900 units, to gain $1.37 cents, having risen by $3.73 on Tuesday. Trading, early Wednesday morning on the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues the slow pace evident for the early summer month, with moderate volumes with a few stocks trading over 100,000 shares.
ICI intra JSE 29-06-16After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Wednesday, the junior market had just four securities trading, but junior market index jumped by 2 percent with Lasco Distributors regaining most of Tuesday’s lost ground. The main market indices declined moderately.
Only three stocks traded over 100,000 shares, with Cable & Wireless trading 306,113 at $1.20 and Pan Jamaican Investment traded 313,590 to close down to $25.50.
Trading resulted in activity in 21 securities, accounting for a volume of 1,110,845 shares compared to as 7 stocks gained and 9 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to 52,897 units compared to an average of 28,363 units on Tuesday.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 170.62 points to 177,113.24, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index dipped 152.56 points to 159,412.55 the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index climbed 320.95 to close at 170,568.46 points andthe junior market index jumped 44.84 points to 2,212.43.

JSE down in early trading

Trading, early Tuesday morning on the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues the slow pace evident for early summer month with moderate volumes with few stocks trading over 100,000 shares. After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Tuesday, the main market indices gave up ground while the junior market gained moderately.

Grace Kennedy jumped $1.40 to $124.50, Montego Bay Ice jumped $2.60 to $17.50 and Scotia Investments climbed $1.70 to $27.70.
Trading resulted in activity in 23 securities, accounting for a volume of 652,351 shares compared to as 7 stocks gained and 6 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to 28,363 units compared to an average of 83,135 units on Monday.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 105.04 points to 177,444.31, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index dipped 93.92 points to 159,708.57 the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index fell 63.58 to close at 170,778.93 points andthe junior market index rose 2.28 points to 2,207.89.

In trading, Carreras put on $2.23 while trading 1,000 shares to close at $50.50, Gleaner ended with 13,000 shares changing hands to gain 12 cents for a 52 weeks’ high of $1.19, Jamaica Broilers gained 50 cents in trading 7,605 units to end at $6, JMMB Group added 10 cents in trading 219,702 shares and ended at $7.50.JSE fn qts 26-6-15 Kingston Wharves climbed 15 cents to $7.15 with 14,071 shares, Montego Bay Ice has not traded in more than two years finally traded today but lost $2.95 to end at $15 while 1,560 shares traded to end at a 52 weeks low. National Commercial Bank rose 40 cents while trading 137,540 shares to close at $29.40, Proven Investments traded 132,278 share to close at 19 US cents, Sagicor Group inched up 9 cents with 105,691 units trading, to end at $12.70, Sagicor Real Estate Fund saw trading in 101,000 units but lost 30 cents in closing at $7.70 and Scotia Investments climbed $1 to $28.50 with 677,500 units, most of the stock traded at $2.

JSE up more gains ahead

A number of market indicators continue to point to a strong rally ahead for local stocks. National Commercial Bank dominated trading with more than 27 million units trading as Mayberry Investments sold most of them and Scotia Investments bought most. Both brokers were acting on behalf of clients.
More stocks gained on Monday than declined, resulting from the prices of 9 stocks rising, 3 declining as 22 securities changed hands, ending in 27,680,503 units trading, valued at $563,375,725, in all market segments. Two stocks closed at new 52 weeks’ high.
strong> Main Market Indices| The JSE Market Index gained 662.29 points to 77,201.46, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 740.46 points to close at 85,033.12 and the JSE combined index gained 758 points to close at 79,171.24.

Gains| Stocks gaining based on the last traded prices, at the close of the main market are, Caribbean Cement ending with 7,800 shares while gaining 4 cents to $2.40, Carreras finishing trading with 37,223 shares and rising $1.50 to a new 52 weeks’ high of $41. Jamaica Money Market Brokers ending with 5,000 ordinary shares with an increase of 17 cents to $6.77, National Commercial Bank closed with 27,173,167 shares, the price climbed 30 cents to a new 52 weeks’ high of $20.20 and Pan Jamaican Investment in trading 7,293 units and put on 95 cents to $52.50.
Firm| The stocks in the main market to close without a change in the last traded prices are, Cable & Wireless closed with 10,000 units trading at 50 cents, Gleaner concluding trading with 416 shares changing hands at 81 cents, Grace Kennedy finished with 3,533 shares trading at $62, Proven Investments in trading 2,420 shares closed at 21 US cents, Sagicor Group closed with 62,506 shares trading at $10, Sagicor Real Estate Fund had 66,350 units trading at $6.70 and Scotia Group closed with 131,483 shares changing hands at $20.05.
JSE sum 2-2-15 Declines| Scotia Investments was the sole stock in the main market to end with a loss while 5,000 shares changed hands to close lower by 45 cents to $22.55 units.
Preference| Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 300 units to close at $2 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded 5,000 units to end with an increase of 2 cents to $3.02.
