Strong November close for TTSE

Investors pushed the prices of the majority of stocks higher on the final day of the month and driving the Market indices upward on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange after an exchange of 267 percent more shares and a 575 percent increase in the value of stocks trading compared to Friday.

The market closed with 19 securities trading, up from fifteen on Friday, and ended with ten stocks advancing, two declining and seven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 707,901 shares for $19,305,014 compared to 192,797 shares valued 2,859,811 on Friday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 37,229 units at $1,016,053 versus an average of 12,853 units at $190,654 for each security on Friday. Month to date averaged 12,529 shares at $181,770 compared to 10,981 units at $129,455 on Friday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index advanced by 7.43 points to 1,294.15, the All T&T Index climbed 10.94 points to 1,725.33, while the Cross Listed Index gained 0.53 points to close at 116.89.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Ansa McAL ended 50 cents higher at $52, in trading 227,540 shares, Clico Investments rose to $25.34, with gains of 34 cents exchanging 72,057 shares, First Citizens Bank added 50 cents to close at $44, in transferring 25,190 stock units. Massy Holdings climbed $2 to $59, with 1,725 units changing hands, NCB Financial Group gained 10 cents to finish at $8.10, after 42 units crossed the market, National Flour picked up 14 cents to settle at $2, with an exchange of 64,372 shares. Point Lisas ended at $3.12, after gaining 12 cents and trading 2,000 units, Scotiabank rose $1 to $55, after transferring 20,327 stock units, Trinidad and Tobago NGL advanced by $1.38 to $15.88, with 77,461 shares changing hands and West Indian Tobacco closed 72 cents higher at $33.22, in trading 42,543 shares.
Stocks declining│ Agostini’s lost 1 cent, transferring 15,000 stock units to finish at $24.49 and JMMB Group closed 5 cents lower at $1.77, with 150,000 shares crossing the exchange.
Stocks trading firm│ Ansa Merchant Bank traded 944 units at $39.50, CinemaOne transferred 40 units at $4, First Caribbean International Bank exchanged 870 units at $7.05. Guardian Holdings closed at $20.40, with a transfer of 2,085 units, Grace Kennedy ended at $3.70, with 1,595 units changing hands, One Caribbean Media transferred 3,000 units at $4.80 and Unilever Caribbean held firm at $16.70 trading 150 units.

Stocks mostly rise on TTSE on Friday

Stock prices mostly rose in trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, sending the market indices higher after 52 percent fewer shares and 71 percent lower value changed hands compared to Thursday.
Ansa Merchant Bank jumped $3.11 on the news of its intention to acquire all the shares in Bank of Baroda (Trinidad and Tobago).
The market closed with 15 securities trading, similar to Thursday and ended with six stocks advancing, three declining and six remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 192,797 shares for $2,859,811 compared to 399,542 shares valued $9,719,737 on Thursday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 12,853 units at $190,654 versus an average of 26,636 units at $647,982 for each security on Thursday. Month to date averaged 10,981 shares at $129,455 compared to 10,884 units at $126,268 on Thursday. October averaged 16,922 shares at $285,061 for each security.
The T&T Composite Index advanced by 5.21 points to 1,286.72, the All T&T Index climbed 8.32 points to 1,714.39, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.28 points to close at 116.16.

First Citizens Bank rose 50 cents to $43.50, with 5,200 stocks changing hands, Grace Kennedy ended 10 cents higher at $3.70, in trading 89 units and JMMB Group added 2 cents to settle at $1.82, with 111,820 shares crossing the market.

Market inched higher for TTSE stocks

Market volume rose sharply by 886 percent and led to the value jumping 13 times Wednesday’s trade on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange at the close on Thursday, but the impact on the market indices was marginal.

The market closed with 15 securities trading, up from 14 on Wednesday, and ended with four stocks, each advancing and declining and seven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 399,542 shares for $9,719,737 compared to just 40,527 shares valued at $676,306 on Wednesday and ended with two stocks closing at 52 weeks’ lows.
The trade for the day averaged 26,636 units at $647,982 versus 2,895 units at $48,308 for each security on Wednesday. Month to date averaged 10,884 shares at $126,268 compared to 10,018 units at $131,742 on Wednesday. October trading resulted in an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index gained 1.51 points to 1,281.51, the All T&T Index rose 1.82 points to 1,706.07, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.08 points to close at 115.88.

Stocks declining│ Grace Kennedy ended 5 cents lower at $3.60, with an exchange of 121,940 shares, Massy Holdings declined $2 to $57 after transferring 180 units, Trinidad and Tobago NGL closed at a 52 weeks’ lows of $14.50, after losing 10 cents trading 10,145 stock units and Unilever Caribbean lost 9 cents to finish at a 52 weeks’ low of $16.70, with 299 units changing hands.

Trading dropped on Wednesday with 83 percent fewer shares changing hands as 83 percent less funds changed hands compared to Tuesday on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange. At the close, the major indices bounced but failed to wipe the sizable declines on Tuesday.
The market closed with 14 securities trading, down from twenty on Tuesday, and ended with six stocks advancing, two declining and six remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 40,527 shares for $676,306 compared to 236,245 shares valued $3,864,740 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 2,895 units at $48,308 versus an average of 11,812 units at $193,237 for each security on Tuesday. For the month to date, averaged 10,018 shares at $131,742 compared to 10,403 units at $136,252 on Tuesday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.

Just one stock rose at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, but 12 declined, sending the major market indices into a slide with Ansa Merchant Bank and Republic Financial Holdings suffered multi-dollar declines.

Trading resulted in 38 percent fewer shares than on Monday with values climbing 151 percent as 236,245 shares costing $3,864,740 changed hands compared to 382,748 shares valued $1,536,873, on Monday.
Trading averaged 11,812 units at $193,237 versus an average of 27,339 units at $109,777 for each security on Monday. For the month to date, trading averaged 10,403 shares at $136,252 compared to 10,286 units at $131,483 on Monday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.

Republic Holdings knocks Trinidad stocks

Republic Holdings dropped $6.24 to $132 on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, with the group reporting audit profit plunging from $1.58 billion to just $904 million for the year to September with the company also cutting the dividend paid for the year from $4.50 to $2.70.
With the sharp fall in the price of Republic, the T&T Composite Index declined 8.19 points to 1,281.45, the All T&T Index dived 16.26 points to 1,710.45, while the Cross Listed Index remained unchanged at 115.25.
The market exchanged 16.8 percent fewer shares, with the value jumping 81.2 percent above Thursday, with Clico Investments and Grace Kennedy accounting for 72 percent of total volume and 46 percent of the day’s value.
The market closed with 12 securities trading, down from thirteen on Thursday, and ended with three stocks rising, four declining and five remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 172,050 shares for $3,148,874 compared to 206,882 shares valued $1,738,641 on Thursday.
The average day’s trade was 14,338 units at $262,406 versus an average of 15,914 units at $133,742 for each security on Thursday. For the month to date, the average trade amounts to 9,224 shares at $132,834 compared to 8,936 units at $125,534 on Thursday. October’s daily average was 16,922 shares for $285,061.

More than 75 percent of the securities traded held their price for a second day at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Thursday as the main indices dipped, after an exchange of 149 percent more shares, at a 45 percent greater value than Wednesday.
The market closed with 13 securities trading, down from fifteen on Wednesday, and ended with two stocks advancing, one declining and ten remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 206,882 shares for $1,738,641 compared to 82,960 shares valued $1,200,746 on Wednesday.
The average trade amounted to 15,914 units at $133,742 versus an average of 5,531 units at $80,050 on Wednesday. The main indices fell for a second consecutive day, Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday after 68 percent more shares were exchanged over Monday, with Clico Investments, the volume leader, accounting for 73 percent of the market’s value.
The market closed with 15 securities trading, up from sixteen on Monday, and ended with four stocks advancing, four declining and seven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 287,597 shares for $3,642,409 compared to 171,072 shares valued $3,576,359 on Monday.

Stocks declining│ Angostura Holdings shed 30 cents trading 120 units to close at $16, Grace Kennedy ended at $3.60, with a loss of 5 cents transferring 72,309 shares, Point Lisas slipped 15 cents to $3, with 25,000 shares changing hands and Trinidad and Tobago NGL lost 35 cents to close at $14.65, after exchanging 1,136 stock units.
Stocks trading firm│ Ansa Merchant Bank was unchanged at $39.50, in transferring 528 units, Calypso Macro Index Fund closed at $14 exchanging 2,430 stock units, First Citizens Bank remained at $43.50, with 2,592 stock units crossing the exchange. JMMB Group held firm at $1.75, trading 20,000 shares, Massy Holdings ended with an exchange of 635 units at $57, National Enterprises traded 24,820 shares at $3.40 and Unilever Caribbean finished at $16.80, with a transfer of 3,266 stock units.

More points dropped by Trinidad stocks

All primary indices experienced a sizable fall at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday after a 271 percent rise in the number of shares exchanged, with a 618 percent rise in value over Friday as Clico Investments contributed half of the market’s volume and 40 percent of the value.
The market closed with 16 securities trading, up from fifteen on Friday, and ended with six stocks advancing, six declining and four remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 171,072 shares for $3,576,359 compared to 46,072 shares valued $498,067 on Friday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 10,692 units at $223,522 versus an average of 3,071 units at $33,204 for each security on Friday. For the month to date, the average trade ended at 7,800 shares at $118,570 compared to 7,500 units at $107,666 on Friday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index declined 8.30 points to 1,289.95. The All T&T Index tumbled 12.29 points to 1,728.83, while the Cross Listed Index shed 0.58 points to close at 115.04.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with three stocks’ bids closing higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Clico Investments advanced to $25.10, with gains of 10 cents after exchanging 85,087 shares, First Caribbean International Bank closed 1 cent higher, in transferring 24,063 shares and closed at $7.05, Guardian Holdings rose 63 cents to $20.78 trading 26,020 shares. Scotiabank gained 5 cents to finish at $54.05, with 24 units crossing the market, Trinidad and Tobago NGL settled at $15 after picking up 35 cents and exchanging 15,751 stock units and West Indian Tobacco closed with gains of 2 cents after transferring 3,259 units to settle at $33.44.
Stocks declining│ Ansa McAL shed 50 cents to close at $48.50, trading 2,021 units, Massy Holdings dropped 37 cents to $57, after exchanging 55 units, NCB Financial Group lost 9 cents trading 450 units to finish at $7.90. National Enterprises declined 45 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $3.40, in trading 100 units, Republic Financial Holdings dropped $1 to end at $139, with 370 units changing hands and Trinidad Cement closed 10 cents lower at $2.10, in trading 2,862 units.
