More points dropped by Trinidad stocks

All primary indices experienced a sizable fall at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday after a 271 percent rise in the number of shares exchanged, with a 618 percent rise in value over Friday as Clico Investments contributed half of the market’s volume and 40 percent of the value.
The market closed with 16 securities trading, up from fifteen on Friday, and ended with six stocks advancing, six declining and four remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 171,072 shares for $3,576,359 compared to 46,072 shares valued $498,067 on Friday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 10,692 units at $223,522 versus an average of 3,071 units at $33,204 for each security on Friday. For the month to date, the average trade ended at 7,800 shares at $118,570 compared to 7,500 units at $107,666 on Friday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index declined 8.30 points to 1,289.95. The All T&T Index tumbled 12.29 points to 1,728.83, while the Cross Listed Index shed 0.58 points to close at 115.04.
The Investors Choice bid-offer indicator ended with three stocks’ bids closing higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
Stocks rising Clico Investments advanced to $25.10, with gains of 10 cents after exchanging 85,087 shares, First Caribbean International Bank closed 1 cent higher, in transferring 24,063 shares and closed at $7.05, Guardian Holdings rose 63 cents to $20.78 trading 26,020 shares. Scotiabank gained 5 cents to finish at $54.05, with 24 units crossing the market, Trinidad and Tobago NGL settled at $15 after picking up 35 cents and exchanging 15,751 stock units and West Indian Tobacco closed with gains of 2 cents after transferring 3,259 units to settle at $33.44.
Stocks declining Ansa McAL shed 50 cents to close at $48.50, trading 2,021 units, Massy Holdings dropped 37 cents to $57, after exchanging 55 units, NCB Financial Group lost 9 cents trading 450 units to finish at $7.90. National Enterprises declined 45 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $3.40, in trading 100 units, Republic Financial Holdings dropped $1 to end at $139, with 370 units changing hands and Trinidad Cement closed 10 cents lower at $2.10, in trading 2,862 units.
Stocks trading firmAnsa Merchant Bank traded 3,080 units at $39.50, First Citizens Bank held firm at $43.50, in exchanging 2,326 units, Grace Kennedy closed at $3.65 after trading 3,894 units and JMMB Group remained at $1.75, with 1,710 units changing hands.
