Low trading interest for TTSE

Trading activity on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange was just moderate on Monday with just 10 securities changing hands, with only 93,727 shares traded valued $1,208,281 as companies accounting for only 32 units.
On Friday 15 securities traded accounting for 156,178 units valued at $2,255,149 and resulted in
1 stock advancing, 6 declining and 3 remaining unchanged.
The Composite Index declined 0.80 points to 1,243.62, the All T&T Index fell 0.42 points to 1,790.91 and the Cross Listed Index slipped 0.16 points to close at 93.52.
IC bid-offer Indicator| The Investor’s Choice bid-offer ended with 4 stocks with bids higher than last selling prices and 7 with lower offers.
Gains| First Citizens gained 4 cents and closed at $32 with 1,500 shares changing hands, is the only security trading with an increase price at close.
Losses| The last traded prices of securities declining and the volume changing hands are Ansa McAL that lost 1 cent, trading just 15 units at $65.79, Guardian Holdings lost 10 cents, in closing at $16.10 with a mere 10 units, JMMB Group closed at $1.30, losing 2 cents while exchanging 27,887 shares. National Flour Mills with a loss of 4 cents, to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $2 with 3,236 shares. Trinidad & Tobago NGL slipped 1 cent to $22.99 trading 5,614 shares and West Indian Tobacco closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $125.46, after losing 1 cent with just 7 units.
Firm Trades| The last traded prices of securities and the volume traded unchanged at the close of trading are Ansa Merchant Bank exchanging 4,056 shares at $40, Clico Investment trading 35,920 shares at $20.75 valued at $745,211 and NCB Financial Group remained at $5.10 with 15,482 shares changing hands.

JSE index up 8,700 points – Monday morning

In a moderate trading session on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday the market index recovered almost all of the huge amount in excess of 10,000 points it lost of Friday.
After an hour of trading at 10:30 this morning, the All Jamaica Composite index rose 9,567.14 points to 286,516.50, the JSE main index was up 8,716.75 to 261,048.95, the Composite Index surged 8,138.33 points to 273,201.83 and the Junior Market index rose 9.87 points to 3,044.93.
Carreras traded ex split with 46,723 shares changing hands at $10.80. JMMB Group was trading at an intraday high of $23 but with just 8,968 units. NCB Financial had just 100 units changing hands, back at the $90 it traded at ahead of the pull down in price in the last few moments of trading, on Friday. The stock is offered currently at $88 with 1,460 units on offer, with the bid at $85.01 to buy 1,200 units. Scotia Group traded 680 units at $48, up from the $45.05 it ended at on Friday.

Scotia drops $6.95 & NCB $10.19 – Friday

Stocks advancing on the Jamaica Stock Exchange were edged out 11 declining stocks 10 on Friday, but that did not prevent the All Jamaica Composite Index tumbling by a record 10,134.09 points as investors pushed down the prices of Scotia Group to $45.05 within 2 minutes of the close and NCB Financial to $80.06.
The sharp fall in the market on Friday does not appear to be an indication that the upward climb in the market has ended. The 6 to 2 positive Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator suggests that the majority of prices could be rising on Monday.
At the close of market activity, Berger Paints gained of 50 cents, and closed at $11.50 with 28,241 shares, Cable and Wireless closed at $1.10, after falling 9 cents with 28,080 stock units changing hands, Caribbean Cement exchanged 7,900 units at $27.50, Carreras lost 3 cents and closed at $107.97 with 62,828 shares, Ciboney Group fell 3 cents trading 388,884 stock units at 17 cents, Grace Kennedy climbed $1.50 and ended at $43.50 with 6,005 units. Jamaica Broilers gained 25 cents, closing at $16 with 347,061 shares, Jamaica Producers traded $1 higher to $16 with 58,252 stock units, Jamaica Stock Exchange lost 16 cents to close at $6.35 with 536 units, JMMB Group with a loss of 20 cents, closed at $21 exchanging 147,249 shares. Kingston Properties exchanged 83,308 stock units at $7, Kingston Wharves climbed $1.55 to $32.40 with 13,777 shares, NCB Financial Group dropped a whopping $10.19, closing at $80.06 with 268,345 stock units, 1834 Investments ended with a loss of 4 cents at $1.30 with 2,384 units. At the close, 15 securities changed hands compared to 18 on Thursday with 3 rising in price, 4 declining and 8 trading unchanged. Market activity led to the Composite Index slipping 1.53 points to 1,244.52, the All T&T Index falling just by 0.38 points to 1,791.53 and the Cross Listed Index easing 0.37 points to close at 93.68.

Scotia Group drops $2

Scotia Group price dropped as nine months results were soft.

Trading picked up on Thursday with value of trading increasing sharply over the low level on Wednesday, but the most prominent stock in the last two weeks, Scotia Group fell in response to lower than expected profits leading to a fall in the market indices.
The number of securities trading ended at 23 compared to 28 on Wednesday but the volume traded rose well ahead of Wednesday’s level at 6,273,419 units versus 2,295,944 units.
At the close of the market the volume of stocks changing hands and prices they last traded at, are Berger Paints exchanging 64,088 shares at $11, Cable and Wireless rising 9 cents, to $1.15 with 151,475 units, Caribbean Cement closing at $27.50 and losing 50 cents with 181,572 shares, Carreras closed at $108 with 20,739 stock units, Grace Kennedy with a loss of 5 cents, to end at $42 trading 1,480,399 shares. Jamaica Broilers dropped $1.05 to $15.75 with 696,244 shares, with investors reacting negatively to lower profit in the first quarter to July, with Net Profit from continuing operations coming in at $212.6 million versus $401.3 million. Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 2 cents to close at $6.51 with 288,079 shares, followed by JMMB Group that closed at $21.20, with a loss of 30 cents in exchanging 44,432 shares. Kingston Wharves ended with gains of 37 cents at $30.85 with 4,100 units, Mayberry Investments dropped 58 cents to $4.22, with 4,488 units, NCB Financial Group closed 25 cents higher to $90.25 with 44,389 shares, 138 Student Living traded 8,350 units at $4.75. PanJam Investment lost 40 cents to $33.85 with 400 units, Pulse Investments lost 5 cents, closing at $1.70 with 27,523 shares, Radio Jamaica fell by 16 cents, ending at $1.04 with 1,534,960 shares, Sagicor Group traded $1.28 higher to $34.53 with 32,438 stock units, Salada Foods gained 50 cents, ending at $8.50 trading 75,000 shares, Scotia Group closed $2 lower to $52 exchanging 182,331 units, Sterling Investments lost 10 cents to close at $11.90 with 264,322 shares, Supreme Ventures closed at $10.80, losing 20 cents with 5,722 units. 6 stocks rise 1 fall on TTSE

Republic Financial Holdings dominated trading on the TTSE on Thursday.

Activity on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange was the most robust it has been for several weeks on Thursday, with 18 securities changing hands compared to 12 on Wednesday. Advancing stocks climbed to 6 with 1 declining and 11 unchanged.
At the close, 623,687 shares traded, valued $14,619,055 compared to Wednesday’s trades of 185,605 units valued at $2,920,184. Republic Financial Holdings dominated trading with 68 percent of the value of securities traded while NCB Financial Group and Trinidad & Tobago NGL,, accounted for 11 percent and 9 percent respectively.
The Composite Index gained 1.02 points to 1,245.95, the All T&T Index advanced 2.35 points to 1,791.71 and the Cross Listed Index lost 0.05 points to close at 94.05.

Trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday resulted in 12 securities changing hands compared to 14 on Tuesday with the ratio of stocks rising and falling 1 to 1.
The market closed with 4 stocks advancing, 4 declining and 4 holding firm as 185,605 shares traded at a value of $2,920,184 compared to Tuesday’s trades of 369,044 valued at $3,923,576.
The Composite Index fell by 2.14 points to 1,244.93, the All T&T Index slipped 0.05 points to 1,789.36 and the Cross Listed Index lost 0.58 points to close at 94.10.

JSE trading dropped on Wednesday

Trading levels dropped sharply on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange with 2 to 1 ratio to declining stocks on Wednesday but advancing stocks beat out declining ones more than 2 to 1.
Recent headliner Scotia Group traded up to $54 ahead of the results that were released after trading closed showing a reduction in profits for the third quarter.
At the close of the market, the volume of stocks changing hands and prices they last traded at are, Barita Investments closing at $9 with 100 units trading, Berger Paints ending with a loss of 50 cents, exchanging 25,657 shares to at $11, Cable and Wireless with a gain of 5 cents to $1.10 with 17,242 stock units. Carreras closed at $108 with 21,840 shares, Grace Kennedy ended at $42.05, gaining 5 cents with 21,302 shares. Jamaica Broilers shed 70 cents to $16.80, with 564,868 stock units, Jamaica Producers traded 25 cents higher to $15 with 124,041 shares, Jamaica Stock Exchange exchanged 126,810 shares at $6.49, while JMMB Group closed at $21.50, with gains of 50 cents trading 87,322 stock units. JSE market indices tumble – Tuesday

Scotia Group dropped $2 and helped to pull the market index down on Tuesday.

The main market indices of the Jamaica Stock Exchange dropped sharply at the close on Tuesday with limited number of securities trading.
At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index plunged 4,592.97 points to 287,374.30 and the JSE Market Index tumbled 4,184.72 points to 261,830.51.
The sharp pulled back in the market is triggered by relatively big fall in the prices of Caribbean Cement, JMMB Group, NCB Financial Group, Sagicor Real Estate Fund and Scotia Group.
Tuesday’s fall pulled the market below the critical resistance level for the All Jamaica Composite Index of 290,000 points. In the short term, how the market behave around current levels is likely to depend on the reception of the market to the release of Scotia Group’s nine months results before the week ends.
Trading in the JSE US dollar market index resulted in the index losing 3.45 points to 181.77. At the close of trading, 19 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 6 stocks advancing and 8 declining. The main market ended with 2,309,285 units valued at $75,635,060 changing hands compared to 4,726,576 units valued at $111,468,464 at the close on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 70,247 units valued at US$16,047 bringing the total of all trades to J$77,705,099.

The main market ended trading with an average of 121,541 units valued at $3,980,793 for each security traded compared to an average of 181,791 units valued at $4,287,249. The average volume and value for the month to date ended at 177,247 units with an average value of $3,342,808 compared with an average of 185,205 units with an average value of $3,263,060 on the previous trading day. The average volume and value for August ended at 184,094 units with an average value of $4,336,090.

Drop in finance stocks sink JSE – Tuesday

NCBFG helped pull down JSE on Tuesday.

The JSE pulled back sharply to close 4,592.97 points on the All Jamaica Composite Index below resistance at 290,000 points to end at 287,374.30 as Scotia pulled back further to end at $53 and NCB Financial,  joined in the fall with the price dropping from $90 on Monday to $87.55.

Adding to the decline are Caribbean Cement down $2 and Sagicor Real Estate Fund down by $1.05. Stocks rising enjoyed a maximum gain of 50 cents, with most below 10 cents.
At the close of the market the volume of stocks changing hands and their last traded price are: Barita Investments closing at $9 with 13,000 shares, Berger Paints exchanging 68,404 stock units at $11.50, Caribbean Cement ending with a loss of $2, to $28 with 8,820 units. Carreras closed at $108 with 15,885 shares, Ciboney Group gained 2 cents, in closing at 20 cents with 200,000 units, Grace Kennedy rose 50 cents to $42 with 578,893 shares. Jamaica Broilers closed at $17.50, gaining 30 cents with 416,012 stock units, Jamaica Producers traded 15 cents lower to $14.75 with 13,083 units, JMMB Group closed at $21, losing 50 cents in exchanging 532,303 shares. Kingston Properties closed at $7 trading 3,000 units, Kingston Wharves ended with a loss of 30 cents, closed at $30.50 with 24,747 shares while NCB Financial dropped $2.45 to $87.55 with 171,811 shares. Portland JSX rose 5 cents to $9.30 with 2,115 units, Sagicor Group added 5 cents to close at $33.05 with 4,525 units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed $1.05 lower to $11 with 4,420 units, Scotia Group dropped to $53, having lost $2 trading 251,107 shares, Supreme Ventures with gains of 10 cents, closed at $10.90 with 960 units.
