JSE Main Market at September highs

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Friday, with the market rising after an equal number of stocks advanced and declined after an exchange of 143 percent more shares, with 36 percent more value than on Thursday, while closing the week at the highest point for September.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 1,015.97 points to 402,637.72, the Main Index gained 909.86 points to 367,526.77 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.84 points to settle at 97.14.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands, similar to Thursday, and closed with the prices of 16 stocks rising, 16 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.4 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 25,606,369 shares for $51,769,010  compared to 10,530,333 units at $38,041,905 on Thursday. Wigton Windfarm led the market with 86 percent of total volume in the trading of 22.05 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 6.2 percent and 1.58 million units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 512,447 units for 2 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 95,497 units at   $1,203,930 for each security, in comparison to an average  of 244,891 shares at  $884,695  on Thursday. The average trade for the month to date ended at 233,735 units at  $1,206,845 for each security, in contrast to  187,575 units at $1,207,217. Trading month to date compares adversely to August’s average of 497,441 units at $3,201,918.

At the close of the market, Berger Paints climbed $1.19 to $11.85, in trading just 50 units, Eppley gained 50 cents to close at $24.50, with 1,200 units crossing the market, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund rose 99 cents to $49.99 after exchanging 5,350 stock units. First Rock Capital fell $1.05 to settle at $12, with 12,574  shares changing hands, Jamaica Broilers Group shed 36 cents to end at $24.60, after 14,625 stock units crossed the market, Kingston Wharves rose $1 to $47, in trading 377 units. Mayberry Jamaican Equities lost 55 cents with an exchange of 10,384 stock units to end at $7.52, Portland JSX advanced $1.48, in ending at $8.50 with investors switching ownership of 400 stock units, Proven Investments finished at $36.35, with gains of 4 cents in trading 7,476 stock units. Salada Foods declined by $2.99 to close at $25 in transferring 10,000 stock units, Scotia Group gained 50 cents in closing at $50.50, with 124,036 shares passing through the market, Seprod rose $2 to $55.50 after the transfer of 24,995 stock units. Supreme Ventures picked up 49 cents to settle at $14, with investors switching ownership of 165,785 shares and Wisynco Group shed 65 cents to end at $16.35, in exchanging 40,884 shares.

Gains for JSE majors on Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Thursday with the market rising after stocks gaining edged out declining ones as investors exchanged 91 percent more shares than on  Wednesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 1,047.56 points to 401,621.75, the Main Index rose 962.30 points to 366,616.91 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.01 points to close at 96.30.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands compared to 40 on Wednesday and closed with the prices of 18 stocks rising17 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.2 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 10,530,333 shares for $38,041,905 compared to 5,515,713  units at $38,353,717 on Wednesday. QWI Investments led trading with 38.4 percent of total volume, with 4.04 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 20.8 percent amounting to 2.19 million units and TransJamaican Highway, with 15 percent for 1.58 million units. Ciboney Group was the only other stock to exceed a million shares, ending with 1.04 million units changing hands.
Trading ended with an average of 244,891 units changing hands at $884,695 for each security, in comparison to an average of 137,893 shares at  $958,843 on Wednesday. The average trade for the month to date ended at  187,575  units at $1,207,217 for each security, in contrast to 179,192 units at $1,254,388. Trading month to date compares adversely to August’s average of 497,441 units at $3,201,918.

Eppley Caribbean Property Fund shed 99 cents to settle at $49 and trading 7,460  stock units, Jamaica Broilers rose 36 cents to close at $24.96 in trading 19,670 shares, Jamaica Producers advanced $1.85 to $21 and cleared the market with 1,350 units. Key Insurance rose 66 cents to $8.57 trading 17,006 stock units, Kingston Wharves dropped $2.89 in closing at $46, with 10,317 units crossing the market, Mayberry Investments slipped 57 cents to $5.13, after 19,300 stock units passed through the market. Proven Investments advanced $1.85 to $35.95, after an exchange of 592 units, Salada Foods gained 99 cents to close at $27.99, with 75 units crossing the market, Scotia Group rose $1 to end at $50, after trading 32,180 shares. Seprod climbed $1.10 to $53.50, in exchanging 9,312 units, Supreme Ventures lost 46 cents to settle at $13.51 trading 101,403 shares and Wisynco Group gained 50 cents to close at $17, with 87,673 shares changing hands.

JSE Main Market dips on more volume

Trading picked up moderately on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on  Wednesday, with the market declining after thirteen percent more shares valued 40 percent more than on Tuesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 1,062.87 points to 400,574.19, the Main Index shed 921.81 points to 365,654.61 and the JSE Financial Index remained unchanged at 96.29.
Trading ended with 40 securities changing hands compared to 43 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 19 stocks rising, 11 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.3 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 5,515,713 shares for $38,353,717 compared to 4,882,753  units at $27,414,421  on Tuesday. Transjamaican Highway accounted for 37.3 percent of stocks trading with 2.06 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 23.7 percent and 1.31 million units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 625,040 units for 11.3 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 137,893 units changing hands at $958,843, in comparison to an average of 113,552 shares at  $637,545 on Tuesday. The average trade for the month to date ended at 179,192 units at $1,254,388 for each security, in contrast to 185,696  units at $1,300,931. MPC Caribbean Clean Energy climbed $8 to close at $163, after exchanging 636 units, Palace Amusement climbed $200 in closing at $1,300 trading 10 units, Proven Investments declined by $1.80 to $34.10 with an exchange of 5,490 stock units. Sagicor Group gained 30 cents to close at $44.90, in transferring 24,509 stock units, Salada Foods dropped $1 to $27, with an exchange of 11,896 units, Scotia Group climbed $2 to $49 while trading 204,296 shares and Sygnus Credit Investments ended at $18, with gains of $1.45 in transferring 104,248 stock units.

Lasco Distributors and Medical Disposables are back in the Junior Market IC TOP 10 while there are no changes to the Main Market IC TOP 10 listing.
Stationery and Office Supplies and Jetcon Corporation dropped out of the Junior Market list, the former earning, was revised down for 2020, with the loss incurred in the June quarter while Jetcon price inched up, to be squeezed out of the top stocks.
The top three stocks in each market saw little change in ranking, leaving the top three Junior Market stocks, with the potential to gain between 292 to 695 percent by March 2021. Caribbean Producers heads the list, followed by Lasco Financial and Elite Diagnostic, the focus on all three is on the 2021 fiscal year results that are projected to show recovery from the 2020 financial year final numbers. The top three Main Market stocks, with expected gains of 205 to 264 percent are Berger Paints followed by Radio Jamaica and JMMB Group, all three suffered declines during the week.
The targeted average PE ratio of the market is 20 based on the profit of companies reporting full year’s results, from now to the second quarter in 2021. Both the Junior and Main markets are currently trading well below this level, an indication of the potential gains ahead. The JSE Main Market ended the week, with an overall PE of 15 and the Junior Market 10.8, based on IC Insider.com’s projected 2020-21 earnings. The average PE ratio of the Junior Market has been slowly rising, with better profit opportunities than the Main Market and narrowing the gap. The PE ratio for the Junior Market Top 10 stocks average a mere 6 at just 56 percent to the average of the overall Junior Market. The Main Market TOP 10 stocks trade at a PE of 8.1 or 54 percent of the PE of the overall market.
The average projected gain for the Junior Market IC TOP 10 stocks is 279 percent, and 157 percent for the JSE Main Market, based on 2020-21 earnings, an indication of potentially, greater gains in the Junior Market than in the Main Market.
IC TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns up to March 2021 and ranked in order of potential gains, based on likely gain for each company, taking into account the earnings and PE ratios for the current fiscal year.  Expected values will change as stock prices fluctuate and will result in movements of the selection in and out of the lists for most weeks. Revisions to earnings per share are ongoing, based on receipt of new information.

Stocks mostly rose on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Tuesday after trading levels dropped sharply, with investors exchanging just 52 percent fewer shares than on Monday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,674.54 points to 401,637.06, the Main Index carved out a gain of 1,545.95 points to 366,576.42 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.12 points to close at 96.29.

The market closed with an exchange of 4,882,753 shares for just $27,414,421 compared to  10,157,738 units at $50,769,890 on Monday. Transjamaican Highway accounted for 40.4 percent of total volume, with 1.97 million shares, followed by JMMB Group 7.50% with 17.7 percent or 863,196 units and Wigton Windfarm with 15.6 percent for 763,084 shares.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Monday, with the market declining after more stocks rising than falling after investors exchanged 70 percent more shares than on Friday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 2,285.96 points to 399,962.52, the Main Index lost 2,070.30 points to 365,030.47, while the JSE Financial Index shed 0.92 points to close at 96.17.
Trading ended with 42 securities changing hands compared to 44 on Friday, with the prices of 18 stocks rising, 14 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 15.1 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

TTSE volume plunged on Monday

The number of securities trading on Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday jumped to 20, but the volume of shares trading dropped to just six percent of Friday’s and led to the market rising.

The market closed with twenty securities trading with five stocks advancing, four declining and eleven remaining unchanged.  The volume of stocks passing through the market amounted to a mere 35,937 shares, valued at $727,964 compared to 592,382 shares for $2,592,060 on Friday from 17 securities.
The average trade on Monday amounted to 1,797 units at $36,398 versus an average of 34,834 stock units for $152,328 for each security. For the month to date, the average trade is 15,532 units at $154,364 versus an average of 20,526 shares at $197,262. August closed with an average of 15,631 shares for $367,803.
The T&T Composite Index climbed 4.62 points to 1,330.01, The All T&T Index advanced by 4.02 points to 1,802.52, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.71 points to close at 115.83.

Stocks declining Agostini’s shed 25 cents trading 2,199 units to finish at $24.70, National Enterprises closed 18 cents lower at $4.02, after exchanging 3,000 stock units, One Caribbean Media slipped 8 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $5.02, in transferring 2,190 units and Scotiabank lost 1 cent trading 352 units to settle at $54.69.

JSE stocks in post-election rise

More stocks fell than rose, Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, the day after the national election was held in the country, returning the governing party to office, with a strong mandate for another five years, winning 49 of the 63 seats up for grabs.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 980.40 points to 402,248.48, the Main Index rose 858.57 points to 367,100.77 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.25 points to close at 97.09.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands compared to 38 on  Thursday, with the prices of 10 stocks rising, 21 stocks declining 13 remaining unchanged. One stock closed at an all-time high and one at an all-time low. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.1 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with fewer shares than on Thursday, in an exchange of 5,965,849  shares for $91,526,991 compared to 7,819,711 units at $77,429,738 on Thursday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 1.15 million shares for 19.2 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.08 million units for 18.2 percent of the day’s trade and Wisynco Group with 1.06 million units for 17.9 percent market share.

Slippage for many of TTSE stocks

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange ended trading on undefined, with the market declining after 246 percent more shares than on undefined, resulting in more than twice the number of stocks falling than rising and the prices of three stocks closing at 52 weeks’ lows.
The market closed with seventeen securities trading with four stocks advancing, ten stocks declining and three remaining unchanged.  The volume of stocks passing through the market amounted to 592,382 shares valued at $2,589,580 compared to 171,377 shares for $1,635,896 on Thursday from 13 securities.
The average trade on Friday amounted to 34,846 units at $152,328 versus an average of 13,183 stock units for $125,838 for each security. Month to date trading resulted in an average 20,526 units changing hands at $197,262 versus 14,126 shares at $217,364 on Thursday. August closed with an average of 15,631 shares for $367,803.

Trinidad and Tobago NGL slid 59 cents to $16.16, with an exchange of 2,200 units and Unilever Caribbean finished at a 52 weeks’ low of $16.70, after losing 27 cents transferring 5,000 stock units.

JSE Main Market gets election day bounce

With Thursday, being the day of Jamaica’s general election, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading, rose with an equal number of stocks rising and falling, with seven percent more shares exchanged, with 90 percent greater value than on Wednesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index surged by 1,988.44 points to 401,268.08. The Main Index climbed 1,851.55 points to close at 366,242.20. The JSE Financial Index gained 0.62 points to close at 96.84.
Trading ended with 38 securities changing hands compared to 45  on Wednesday, with the prices of 15 stocks rising, 15 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.4 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 7,819,711 shares for $77,429,738  compared to 7,341,364 units at $40,755,755 on Wednesday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 3.9 million shares for 50 percent of total volume, followed by Scotia Group with 1.18 million units for 15 percent of the day’s trade and Transjamaican Highway with 853,461 units for 11 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 205,782 units changing hands at  $2,037,625 for each security, in comparison to an average of 163,141  shares at  $905,683 on Wednesday. The average trade for the month to date ended at 209,284 units at $1,423,922 for each security, in contrast to  210,813 units at $957,419. Trading month to date compares adversely to August’s average of 497,441 units at $3,201,918.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the market shows five stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and seven with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Barita Investments jumped $3.50 to $57, trading 5,972 units, Caribbean Cement climbed $3.95 to $46.99, with investors switching ownership of 15,423 stock units, First Rock Capital shed 60 cents to close at $11.90 and 8,500  units passing through the market. Jamaica Producers fell $1 to $21, with 5,106 units crossing the market, JMMB Group rose  97 cents to close at $30.50, while transferring 41,850 shares. Key Insurance rose $1.94 to settle at $9.15, in an exchange of 184,302 shares, Kingston harves advanced to $45, with gains of $1 trading 7,600 units, NCB Financial ended 50 cents higher at  $138.01 with investors swapping 38,808 shares. PanJam Investment carved out an increase of $1 to settle at $70 in trading 450 units, Sagicor Group gained 77 cents to close at $44.77 after exchanging  63,545 units. Scotia Group ended with a loss of 71 cents to end at  $46.02, in clearing the market with 1,184,453 shares, Seprod gained 50 cents to finish at $55, trading  4,895 units and Supreme Ventures lost 30 cents ending at $13.50, with 5,173 units changing hands.
In the preference segment of the market, Community & Workers Credit Union preference shares gained 28 cents in trading 11,500 units to close at $1.98.
