Trading up, prices down on TTSE

Declining stocks dominated trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the market after investors traded 11 percent more shares than on Monday.  
Trading ended with 16 securities changing hands up from 14 on Monday, with two rising, eight declining and six remaining unchanged. The Composite Index inched 0.58 points higher to 1,323.92, the All T&T Index squeezed out 0.65 points to close at 1,761.27 and the Cross Listed Index added 0.11 points to settle at 86.46.
The market closed with an exchange of 149,928 shares, for $2,388,564 compared to 135,274 units at $2,133,425 on Monday.
An average of 9,371 units traded at $149,534 compared to 9,662 at $152,388 on Monday. An average of 17,967 units traded at $266,286 for the month to date versus 18,757 units at $277,022. The average trade for January amounted to 13,836 units at $275,635.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows five stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and five with lower offers.
At the close of trading, Calypso Macro Investment Fund lost 25 cents at $14.75 with 820 shares clearing the market, Clico Investment Fund shed 25 cents in closing at $25.50 with 10,800 units changing hands. First Citizens Bank lost $1.29 to close at $42.70 in exchanging 5,724 shares, Guardian Holdings ended at $21 after 11,126 stock units crossed the exchange, L.J Williams B share remained at $1.50, after switching ownership of 45,000 shares. Massy Holdings gained $1 in closing at $62 in an exchange of 17,495 units, National Flour Mills dropped 7 cents to end at $2.43 trading 19,699 stock units, NCB Financial Group advanced 10 cents to $8.50 with 29,500 stocks clearing the market. One Caribbean Media ended at $4.81 in an exchange of 1,556 shares, Republic Financial Holdings closed at $134.98 after exchanging 477 stock units, Scotiabank lost 85 cents at $56 in an exchange of 1,166 stock units. Trinidad & Tobago NGL ended at $15.50 with an exchange of 2,400 stock units, Trinidad Cement closed at $3.75 trading 3,920 shares, Unilever Caribbean lost 9 cents in closing at $16.40 with 20 stock units clearing the market and West Indian Tobacco dropped 15 cents to close at $34.85 after exchanging 25 units.
In the preference segment, L.J. Williams shed 19 cents ending at a 52 weeks’ low of $3.60 with an exchange of 200 units.

Trading picks up for JSE USD stocks

Trading ended on Tuesday, with the market index slipping after trading volume rose 17 percent over Monday level, with more stocks rising than falling on the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
Seven securities traded, compared to six on Monday with four rising, two declining and one remaining unchanged.
JSE USD Equity Index lost 3.77 points to end at 199.99. The average PE Ratio ends at 14 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 73,195 shares for US$12,725, up from 62,513 units at US$10,864 on Monday.
Trading averages 10,456 shares at US$1,818, close to 10,419 shares at US$1,811 on Monday. Trading for the month to date averaged 69,933 units at US$8,351 in contrast to 76,872 units at US$9,114 on Monday. By comparison, January ended with an average of 121,154 units for US$15,408.

Sygnus Credit Investments settled at 14.5 US cents trading 2,901 stock units, Sygnus Credit Investments dropped 0.5 of a cent to end at 14.5 US cents trading 2,400 stock units and Transjamaican Highway advanced 0.03 of a cent to 0.94 of a US cent with 23,060 units crossing the exchange.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 5.75% increased 2 US cents to close at US$2.02, with owners switching 3,366 stock units.

Highest 5 weeks’ close for JSE majors

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Monday with the market rising after more stocks advanced than declined, with 47 percent increase in the number of shares exchanged over Friday, with values down 57 percent as the market closed another session with gains to land it a five weeks’ high.
The two main market indices are now down less than a percent for the year to date, as the All Jamaican Composite Index gained 2,037.03 points to end at 430,050.61, the Main Index rose 1,848.31 points to 392,126.85 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.50 points to settle at 99.86.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands, up from 43 on Friday and closed with prices of 21 stocks rising, 16 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 16.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 21,102,556 shares for $91,864,402 versus 14,347,348 units at $215,600,304 on Friday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 41.2 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 8.69 million shares followed by Transjamaican Highway with 9.1 percent for 1.93 million units, Radio Jamaica 8.4 percent with 1.77 million units, QWI Investments 7.5 percent with 1.59 million units, 138 Student Living with 6.7 percent for 1.41 million units and Pulse Investments with 5.9 percent market share for 1.25 million units changing hands.
Trading for the day averaged 468,946 units at $2,041,431, compared to 333,659 shares at $5,013,961 on Friday. The month to date averages 431,223 units at $2,808,510 for each security, in contrast to 427,484 units at $2,884,542 on Friday. Trading in January averaged 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Near 100 points plunge for Junior Market

The Junior Market Index declined 20.33 points to settle at 2,793.82, but plunged nearly 100 points during the day, with the market jumping sharply after just 20 minutes of trading to 2,886.96 points as investors pushed Lasco Distributors to a new 52 weeks’ high at $3.88 and Lasco Manufacturing to $4.95 with a few others chipping in.
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market on Monday pushed the total volume of shares exchanged up 585 percent with a value 215 percent more than on Friday. Market activity resulted in 74,563,869 units trading for $122,016,255 compared to 10,871,142 units at $38,718,293 on Friday as 38 securities changed hands, up from 36 on Friday with prices of 16 rising, 14 declining and eight closing unchanged. Three stocks traded at 52 weeks’ highs during the day but only two ended at closing highs.
Paramount Trading dominated the market controlling 81 percent of the volume after 60.50 million shares changed hands followed by Mailpac Group with 7.7 percent for 5.74 million units, Lumber Depot with 3.3 percent trading 2.43 million units, Jamaican Teas with 1.8 percent for 1.35 million units and Tropical Battery with 1.4 percent of the day’s trade for 1.07 million units.
Trading averaged 1,962,207 units at $3,210,954 up from 301,976 at $1,075,508 on Friday. Trading month to date averages 457,286 units at $1,077,386, up on 299,311 units at $853,420 on Friday. Trading in January averaged 232,651 units at $569,885.

Jamaican Teas gained 10 cents to a record closing high of $3.37 after hitting an intraday high of $3.54, with 1,348,424 units crossing the market. Lasco Financial gained 9 cents in closing at $2.69, after exchanging 44,500 shares. Lasco Manufacturing fell 72 cents to $4.26 after trading as high as $4.95 with 217,306 stock units changing hands; the stock closed with the bid at $4.89, Limners and Bards lost 7 cents to end at $2.48, with 224,829 stocks crossing the market. Lumber Depot rose 40 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $2.50, after the swapping of 2,434,406 units and trading as at a record high of $2.65 before the close. Mailpac Group shed 47 cents to end at $3.49, with an exchange of 5,737,107 shares, as investors reacted negatively to the release of full-year earnings of 18 cents per share, driving the stock to $3.10 during the trading session. Medical Disposables rose 46 cents to $4.46 trading 1,000 stocks, Paramount Trading lost 15 cents and ended at $1.30, in exchanging 60,499,360 shares and tTech lost 59 cents to settle at $4.11, with investors switching ownership of 10,000 units.

9.4% rise for JSE USD stocks in 2021

The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Monday, with the market rising after a 93 percent drop in the volume of shares than on Friday, with market Index gaining 6.92 points to end at 203.76, to be up 9.4 percent for the year to date.
Trading ended with six securities changing hands at the close, compared to seven on Friday and ended with two stocks rising, one declining and three remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ends at 13.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 62,513 shares for US$10,864 down sharply from 913,583 units at US$70,708  on Friday.
Trading averaged 10,419 units at US$1,811, in contrast to an average of 130,512 shares at US$10,101 on Friday. For the month to date, the average trade is 76,872 shares at US$9,114 in contrast to 84,256 units at US$9,925 on the prior trading day. January closed with an average of 121,154 units for US$15,408.

Falling stocks dominated trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday, with the market declining after investors traded 64 percent fewer shares than on Friday and resulted in more stocks falling than rising.
Trading ended with 14 securities changing hands compared to 16 on Friday, with three stocks rising, five declining and six remaining unchanged. The Composite Index fell 0.77 points to 1,323.34, the All T&T Index lost 3.12 points to settle at 1,760.62 and the Cross Listed Index added 0.22 to close at 119.84.
Traders exchanged 135,274 shares, for $2,133,425 compared to 378,912 units at $2,508,173 on Friday.
An average of 9,662 units traded at $152,388 compared to 23,682 at $156,758 on Friday. An average of 18,757 units traded at $277,022 for the month to date versus 19,553 units at $287,927. January averaged 13,836 units at $275,635.

More gains for Junior Market

Rising stocks dominated trading on Friday and allowing Junior Market stocks to hold on to modest gains in the market index for a second consecutive day, with 53 percent of the stocks traded rising after an exchange of 75 percent more shares than on Thursday and values 135 percent higher.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands, up from 34 on Thursday and closed with the prices of 19 stocks rising, 11 declining and six ending unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index eked out a 7.52 points gain to close at 2,814.15, to be up 7.5 percent up for the year to date. The average PE Ratio ended at 14.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 10,871,142 shares for $38,718,293 up sharply from 6,203,871 units at $16,459,757 on Thursday. Jamaican Teas led trading with 23 percent of total volume, after 2.51 million shares changed hands followed by Lasco Distributors with 21.5 percent of the day’s trade for 2.34 million units and Lasco Manufacturing with 17.2 percent market share for 1.87 million units.

Rising stocks dominate JSE majors

Rising stocks outclassed declining ones by more than a two to one ratio in Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market activity on Friday leading to a decent bounce in the market indices on Thursday, with 92 percent jump in the value of stocks traded.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 4,748.93 points to 428,013.58, the Main Index advanced by 4,304.89 points to 390,278.54 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.88 points to close at 99.36.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands, down from 44 on Thursday and closed with 25 rising, 11 declining and seven ended unchanged. The PE Ratio ended at an average of 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 14,347,348 shares for $215,600,304 compared to 14,742,217 units at $112,092,139 on Thursday. Jamaica Broilers led trading with 35 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 5.02 million shares followed by QWI Investments 13.2 percent with 1.89 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 11.9 percent market share for 1.71 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 8.1 percent for 1.16 million units.

Big jump in JSE USD trading on Friday

Trading on Friday resulted in the volume of shares changing hands rising 137 percent over Thursday’s levels, resulting in rising stocks edging out falling ones on the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.  
Trading ended with seven securities changing hands at the close, compared to six on Thursday and ended with the prices of three stocks rising, two declining and two remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equity Index gained 0.22 points to end at 196.84. The average PE Ratio ends at 13.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 913,583 shares for US$70,708 up from 385,820 units at US$23,055 on Thursday.

Trading ended on Friday, with the market inching higher after investors traded 54 percent fewer shares than on Thursday and leading to more stocks rising than falling at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
Securities trading totalled 16, down from 18 on Thursday, five gained, three declined and eight remaining unchanged. The Composite Index rose 0.12 points to 1,324.11, the All T&T Index rose 1.82 points to 1,763.74 and the Cross Listed Index lost 0.22 points to end at 119.62.
The market closed with an exchange of 378,912 shares, for $2,508,173 compared to 816,372 units at $3,985,868 on Thursday.
